Hey guys/girls/whatever you identify as. We've had fun together, right? Oh that sounds like I'm going to harshly break up with you or something. Forgive. Even though THW hasn't been around that long, running it has been fun and amusing for the most part. I won't lie, I seriously stressed over making sure I got something out to you daily for a long while. I'm sure you've noticed I haven't been updating nearly as often as I used to and I'm sorry for it.

The truth of the matter is that running this has gone from fun to something like a chore and, frankly, brain frying. I have been without ideas or inklings of ideas for over two months now. I've literally given you guys every bit of useless deducing knowledge I have in me and now I'm spent.

As of right now, I don't plan to continue updating THW. If someone ever submits to it I'll certainly add their contribution to our database (that sounds strange) or if they ask a question, I'll gladly answer to the best of my ability. In no way am I planning to delete the blog. A primary purpose of it was to teach each other little quirks and things so we could act more like Holmes. It would be entirely counterproductive of me to delete the knowledge we've gathered here. It's all still useful to anyone and everyone so it should still be available to them.

There are other blogs out there that do the same thing I have been doing and you're free to dump THW and move on to them. I wouldn't blame you in the slightest. You're also free to hang around if you want. Just please know that I appreciate every one of you for following THW.

Smoke Exhalation as an Indicator of Mood

Observe the way people exhale their cigarette smoke. Whether they blow it up or downwards is not always but often an indicator of their mood.

A smoker who is feeling confident, pleased or superior mostly exhales their smoke in an upward direction. Someone in the opposite frame of mind - secretive or negative - usually blows their smoke downward, sometimes from the corner of the mouth.

This knowledge is especially useful in card games. Even if a smoking player has a poker face on or makes a show of emotion at their hand, the direction they exhale smoke is subconscious and can hint at what they are actually feeling.

You Can Tell Where Someone Grew Up by Their Handshake

Everyone has a degree of personal space that they maintain, and people from different areas, even if they grew up in the same state or country, may have larger or smaller “bubbles". A child raised in an apartment with several other siblings will be comfortable standing quite close to other people in a non-intimate situation, and an only child that grew up on a ranch won’t sit next to a stranger when more distant seats are open.

In Western society, someone who steps forward and offers a hand to shake, holding it out by about a foot and a half, is/was a city dweller. If they stand with their feet planted, leaning forward with their arm outstretched, they’ve been raised in a rural area where they’re used to having a greater amount of personal space. A person who grew up in a very remote area (which in this day and age is unlikely, but can happen) may prefer not to shake hands at all, but keep a greater distance from you and wave.
