Part 1: Welcome to the Hotel (#9ta)
The northern hallway has eight rooms numbered 101-108. All of them look like the same size.
In addition to the room number, each door has a small whiteboard, apparently for the name of the current occupant.
Mayumi Tomokomaki.
KENSHIN: ...
KAZUSUKE: Do you think we should try to talk to her?
CHINARI: She clearly wasn't in the mood, and I don’t think it will have changed already. It's best to wait until she's ready to come out on her own.
And even then, we shouldn't push it.
MAKI: I bet we can ease her out eventually.
And she ought to at least join us for lunch, so...
KENSHIN: We'll see if she does.
I hope so. It's not good to have someone unaccounted for in this kind of situation.

Part 1: Welcome to the Hotel (#9tb)
No doors on this wall—just a painting of... I don't think it's supposed to be anything in particular. At least, I hope not.

Part 1: Welcome to the Hotel (#9tc)
Various forms of art line the hallways. Some of them are a little too much for me, but this landscape isn't bad.
It might be the only view of the outdoors we get for a while.
[back]
Part 1: Welcome to the Hotel (#9td)
Rooms 109-118 appear to mirror the rooms on the other side of the dividing wall. And Room 110...
Kenshin Yuuen.
ITSUROU: Ready for a break, are you?
KENSHIN: No, it's not like that! I'm still here to investigate.
CHINARI: It looks like these don't lock with normal keys. Key cards, maybe?
KENSHIN: Monobear didn't give us any key cards.
ITSUROU: Yet Mayumi has already vanished into her own room. Which leads us to the conclusion that...
KENSHIN: We already have the keys?
MAKI: Or Monobear gave her the key card separately! Right?
KENSHIN: I guess it's possible. She did run off and disappear pretty quickly, though.
But I think the most obvious conclusion is...
Taking out my Electronic Student ID card, I waved it in front of the sensor on my door.
WHIRR
CLICK
KENSHIN: It's open.
CHINARI: And that solves that.

Part 1: Welcome to the Hotel (#9sa)
Some of the tables are set a bit better than others. I guess there’s no need to stain a tablecloth if you don’t have to.
Even though this hotel only has rooms for 32 people, there's quite a bit of dining space. They must hold larger banquets here.
CHINARI: We found the dining room! Don't have to worry about that anymore.
KAZUSUKE: Honestly, I'm still not hungry enough to eat.
MAKI: There's already a buffet set out, though. It's kind of hard to stand here not eating it...
KENSHIN: Well, you can go ahead if you want...
MAKI: Hmmmmm...
[back]
Part 1: Welcome to the Hotel (#9sb)
A long counter holds an array of food. All of the lids are open, but I'm too far away to read any of the little signs.
KENSHIN: How long do you think that's been sitting out?
CHINARI: I guess we could see how warm it is.
We drew a bit closer to the counter, but...
ITSUROU: They're being heated from beneath. If they're warm, it doesn't tell us a thing.
MAKI: But we could tell if they were more reheated, right? Like, is there anything with cheese? I bet I could tell by the consistency.
KAZUSUKE: Is this really that important?
KENSHIN: I... don’t think it would tell us much about our situation.
ITSUROU: I do wonder where it originated. Everything logically has to come from somewhere, or we'd have a plot hole.
Does this hotel contain a lifetime supply of food inside, or is a smaller supply delivered from time to time?
KENSHIN: ...And every door is just as much of an exit as it is an entrance, right?
CHINARI: Still, we'd probably learn more about that looking around than eating.
ITSUROU: Indeed. The portal may not even be directly connected to this room.
Sometimes convenience must be sacrificed for discreetness.
MAKI: Guess we'd better keep looking, then.
[back]
Part 1: Welcome to the Hotel (#9sc)
The kitchen is separated by a swinging door. Inside, it... looks like a kitchen. There are prepared foods and raw ingredients alike.
CHINARI: Ah, so we can cook our own meals if we want.
KAZUSUKE: Are you a good cook, Chinari?
CHINARI: No. But I do like my macaroni and cheese a certain way.
And making cookies is kind of fun.
KAZUSUKE: You can bake me cookies anytime, babe.
CHINARI: How could I ever pass up such an offer?
ITSUROU: The outside door is secured tightly, with no clear way to undo it. I doubt this will end up being our escape route.
KENSHIN: It was worth a shot.

Part 1: Welcome to the Hotel (#9ra)
KUMIKO: Thank goodness... It seems we'll be able to do our laundry while we're here.
KENSHIN: We could have still used the sinks in our rooms, but this is definitely a lot nicer, yeah.
KUMIKO: Davvero? The sinks?
KENSHIN: Well, yeah. It works better when you have detergent, of course, but...
I guess you haven't done that much traveling?
KUMIKO: N-no... I've never been outside the country, actually.
KENSHIN: Really? With all the languages you know, I thought you'd have studied some of them abroad.
KUMIKO: Immersion is supposed to be very effective. But I don't think I would be able to handle being that far from home.
Even accepting an invitation to a school with its own dorms was a tense decision for me.
KUMIKO: A-and now... I-I may never set foot in my own home again...
KUMIKO: Uuuuugh...
KENSHIN: It's okay!
We're all determined to find a way out of here.
We'll get you back home, I promise.
KUMIKO: Right! I understand!
I... I'm sorry if it sounding like I was doubting you...
KENSHIN: It's fine. Let's just do our best to find an escape route.
KUMIKO: Okay.

Part 1: Welcome to the Hotel (#9rb)
MEIDOU: There's quite a lot of space for clothes considering it's a 32-person hotel.
I suppose they're prepared for the worst.
KENSHIN: And the worst they have gotten.
MEIDOU: I don’t think we'll be troubling the workers. I haven't seen another soul yet.
KENSHIN: Well, there are some clothes on the rack even though we've only just gotten here. Maybe...?
MEIDOU: You think they belong to staff? That could be it. We'd have to examine them further to find out.
[back]
Part 1: Welcome to the Hotel (#9rc)
KAKUMI: I checked farther in. Past the drying rack are several washers—not coin-operated—and plenty of laundry supplies.
Even if Monobear doesn't refresh the stash anytime soon, we should be all right.
KENSHIN: Anything else interesting?
KAKUMI: Not really. There are no other doors. It looks like the way through the counter can be locked, but there's no key in sight. It's a fairly large room, but that doesn't mean much in a luxury hotel.
KAKUMI: ...And the cash register is empty.
KENSHIN: Sounds like a pretty thorough investigation.
Or casing for a robbery.
KENSHIN: Do you think we should assign someone laundry duty, or would it be better to take our loads in by ourselves?
KAKUMI: Certainly by ourselves. I don't want someone screwing up my laundry.
...Or poisoning it somehow.
KENSHIN: That's a good enough point...
[back]
Part 1: Welcome to the Hotel (#9rd)
HAKUSHI: Hey! How's your investigation been goin’?
KENSHIN: As far as scoping out the place, good.
As far as finding a way out... Not so much.
HAKUSHI: Yeah... Same here...
HAKUSHI: But hey! Now we know the girls can wash their clothes as much as they want!
KENSHIN: Uh... You plan to wash yours eventually, right?
HAKUSHI: I don’t think we'll be here long enough for that, man!
I can't tell if he means we'll be out in a day or something else entirely.
HAKUSHI: There's nothin’ too excitin’ here otherwise, though.
Although I have noticed there aren't any fire extinguishers 'n here. There's still one just outside, but you'd have to run in and leap over the counter if you were in a hurry to put things out.
HAKUSHI: ...That sounds pretty rad, actually.
KENSHIN: In that case, I'll leave that to you if it comes to it.
[back]
Part 1: Welcome to the Hotel (#9re)
I'm guessing that normally an attendant would stand here to take your laundry and dry cleaning and present it back to you.
There's a cash register as well as a stack of papers to specify your specific laundry needs. I don't know if the customer or the worker would be the one to fill that out.
It seems no one will be now.
[back]
Part 1: Welcome to the Hotel (#9rf)
This is one of those drying racks that can rotate around to get the clothes you want. Looks like the controls are just under the counter.
Even though we're the only ones here, clothes of various formalities are hung up, mostly covered in plastic sleeves.
KENSHIN: H-hey! Wait a second!
CHINARI: What is it?
KENSHIN: That suit jacket! That's—mine!
MEIDOU: This one, by the frilly dress?
KENSHIN: Yeah.
Meidou hopped over the counter and came back with the jacket.
MEIDOU: You said it's yours? It's damp to the touch.
KENSHIN: I don't understand...
I didn't even bring this here with me.
KUMIKO: Huh?!
MEIDOU: Perhaps someone else just has the same jacket as you? I can tell you it's not mine.
KENSHIN: Yeah...
Hey, Hakushi! This isn't yours, is it?
HAKUSHI: What? What is it?
Is somethin' wrong with that jacket?
MEIDOU: I'm guessing it's not his.
KENSHIN: I would have to agree.
I'll... keep asking around.
But even if it isn't mine... Why is it wet?
How long were we unconscious? I'm really starting to get worried now...

I wanna fight Itsurou
ITSUROU: Would you prefer fisticuffs or a formal duel? Keep in mind I’m not willing to provide sabres, epees, or pistols myself.
