First Date (thehotshothero)
Ian held him close, hoping that the boy wouldn’t struggle against him. He was having a breakdown, he was breaking, no, shattering in front of him and there was nothing he could do but hold onto him. “I’m here..I’m here.." He would not let him go, not for anything, not until he was sure Souji was okay. “Shhh.." Ian murmured to him, wondering if his father had ever comforted him like this before, ever just picked up his son and held him and told him it would be okay. Ian could recall countless times both of his parents had just hugged him for no reason, and murmured ‘good job’ or ’ I love you’ into his ear and it broke him that Souji…probably never got that. If his father did love him, which he wanted to believe he did, then he never showed it openly and that was sad. It made him angry, but, his anger was not as important as Souji, especially not now when he…his boyfriend, was breaking, sobbing on him. He did not mind, not even when the hot tears soaked through his t-shirt, he just continued to stroke his hair and rub his back, the sounds Souji made terrifying him.
It was now that he noticed Souji was holding him back and Ian was nearly shocked. He was leaning into him, relying on him, taking comfort from him. He heard Souji quiet down, and when Ian looked back down, he was surprised and worried once more as he shook from the next bout of sobs. No, this was not going to be a quick cry, Souji was not just upset, he held all these emotions and feelings in, and they were all coming out now. “Its okay Souji.." Wait..he did just say his name…how odd yet pleasing it was too hear it come out of his own mouth. Why did he never say it before? They stayed like that for a while it felt like, though it could have been just minutes, and he spoke softly to him, urging him to breath when it felt like he was having difficulty and reassured him he was still there though he was holding him. It felt like the right thing to do..
Eventually, either because of what Ian was saying or his own self control, Souji managed to get himself to stop crying and slowly let go of Ian. He pulled back and rubbed his sleeves over his eyes. “S-Sorry…" he mumbled, not looking up again. His face was bright red from crying so much. God, he probably looked like shit. There wasn’t anything cute about this. “I’m better now…" Finding his normal courage, he looked up at Ian and gave him a small smile. “Thanks, Ian… For being so worried about me. I’m fine, though." Souji really was grateful Ian had been so worried about those scars, but they couldn’t be changed now and there was nothing to be done about it except to prevent more from being created.
Ian reluctantly let go and leaned away slowly, giving Souji a small smile back as he saw him give his own. Brave kid...That was what Ian was thinking as Souji thanked him, and smiled at him even after all of this. He was strong, even when letting weakness show. There was nothing wrong with crying or breaking down. He nodded, and his smile grew a little when he wiped his face on his sleeve. "No need to thank me.." But Ian was very glad he had been there, it felt like they had gotten closer somehow, now that Souji told him about his past. Trust. He leaned over and got a tissue then offered it to him, still smiling. "Souji..." He spoke softly, pausing a moment before sighing a bit and continuing. "I'm here for you, for anything...you can talk to me anytime. Alright?" He waited a moment then pat his cheek. "And you can always come here too.."
First Date (thehotshothero)
Ian stopped talking and waited anxiously for Souji to answer, to say something. He wanted to get through to him that he was not going to yell at him, but, he was still so angry and he wasn’t sure how to handle it. He noticed Souji’s shoulders droop and sighed a little as the boy seemed to be trying to calm down. But he felt the boy jerk and move his head towards him and Ian could only really stare when he saw his eyes finally meet his own. “Boy..?" He saw the fear, so much fear, all in his eyes and Ian’s heart skipped a beat when he also saw Souji’s eyes fill with tears. Ian’s eyes widened in surprise and concern, but could only mutter his name before Souji started to speak shakily to him.
Ian stayed still, taking in those words slowly. One minute, Souji was angry and tense, but now, those eyes they looked so scared. Ian was absolutely stunned. The boy never cried in front of him, ever, but now, his usual demeanor was crumbling in front of him and was replaced with so much sadness and fear. “Souji..come here.." His name slipped out without him even thinking, but he didn’t notice at first. Souji was crying, begging for an answer he could not give him, and he was showing his weakness, his doubts and greatest fear in front of him. The tears rolled down his face and Ian leaned forward, gently taking Souji in his arms, hoping he wouldn’t struggle against him. The desire to comfort was overwhelming, he couldn’t even try to resist. His words rang true, and they broke Ian’s heart. His dad..would leave him? No that was wrong. “Souji…Souji…hey.." He gently pulled him to his chest, wrapping one arm around his rigid back and the other behind his head, softly patting his soft hair. What the hell could he do? He didn’t say anything, he just held him tight and tried to make sense of it all.
Souji felt, just for a moment, some panic once he’d fallen into his breakdown. Ian would hold this against him, mock him for it, call him some other names… He barely noticed that Ian had said his name instead of Boy. Damn it… That bastard… Why couldn’t he just say his name like a normal person?! He wasn’t angry though… He couldn’t be because Ian pulled him in close and Souji couldn’t resist the comfort that was offered. He usually never had any. Leaning in, he buried his face into Ian’s chest and wrapped his arms around his waist. He was silent and at a glace, it would seem like he was done crying, but when he tried to breathe, his body shuddered. He just couldn’t stop crying…
Ian held him close, hoping that the boy wouldn't struggle against him. He was having a breakdown, he was breaking, no, shattering in front of him and there was nothing he could do but hold onto him. "I'm here..I'm here.." He would not let him go, not for anything, not until he was sure Souji was okay. "Shhh.." First Date (thehotshothero)
Ian waited for Souji to say something, anything, but was slightly surprised to see that he looked angry. Angry? At him? Okay maybe he was not going about this the right way but, how else could he ask him? This was just awkward. Souji would not even look at him and he didn’t want to lose his patience, he didn’t want to scare him or get angry at him because that was exactly what the Boy expected. But this was hard. “Hey.." When Souji turned purposefully away from him, Ian sighed a little then looked up at him as he spoke roughly, with coldness. “I’m not trying to look at you like a child, Boy." he said softly, maintaining his calm by sheer will to not prove Souji right. He sighed again and sat back. “I know, I know you can take care of your and I know you are very capable of handling a lot. However.." He dropped his hands to his sides and leaned towards him again."I can’t help but be angry at your father for hurting you and I won’t lie or deny it. I’m not mad at you, like I said. I’m mad at him, and as your boyfriend and someone who cares about you very much, I feel I have a right to be." He leaned closer, daring to touch his cheek with his hand. “And just because you can take care of yourself doe not mean that those scars don’t mean anything. They still hurt, and they still upset you and that matters to me too."
Souji’s shoulders drooped as Ian kept talking. If Ian didn’t want to treat him like a child, then why was he always calling him “Boy"? He took a deep breath to try and calm himself, discovering that he had been holding it. Turning his head as Ian touched his cheek, he finally looked Ian in the eye. He was scared. Scared of Ian’s rage. Scared of what his father might do if he found out he’d said something to someone else… Scared of his father in general. His stoic mask started to shatter as tears surfaced and spilled over without his permission. “What am I supposed to do, Ian? I can’t stop him… I mean, he’s my dad. He’s the only family I have left. What if he leaves me behind too?" Souji didn’t expect Ian to answer him. He didn’t expect anyone to. These were just questions he’d asked himself and had managed to bury away.
Ian stopped talking and waited anxiously for Souji to answer, to say something. He wanted to get through to him that he was not going to yell at him, but, he was still so angry and he wasn't sure how to handle it. He noticed Souji's shoulders droop and sighed a little as the boy seemed to be trying to calm down. But he felt the boy jerk and move his head towards him and Ian could only really stare when he saw his eyes finally meet his own. "Boy..?" First Date (thehotshothero)
Ian tried to keep composure, because he didn’t want to scare the Boy but it was getting much harder to as time went by. His eyes trailed to Souji’s hands, trying to grasp the sweaty glass with his shaking hands. Concern mixed with the anger quickly and his eyes widened a little when the boy started talking about how his father was better now. Now? He took a breath and stayed silent, wanting to let him finish at least before he said anymore. Ian was surprised, Souji never got this nervous, this upset, it was new to see his stoic side breaking bit by bit in front of him. He felt guilty for even bringing it up. He was right, the Boy became a great swordsman, but, were those scars worth it? Wait, did he just call himself material? Was that what he thought? The boy’s shaking voice had Ian leaning forward, wanting to help even though he was so angry. “Boy.." he started to say, but was cut off as Souji lost grip of the glass he had been clutching and the water spilled over the carpet under them. Souji cursed and Ian looked down, his eyes trailing from the water to Souji, watching him frantically try to pick up the cup. Ian reached over and placed his hand on Souji’s cheek, holding it steady for a second. “Hey, its just water. Its okay." He got up and went to get a towel, returning a moment later and simply dropping it on the floor after pulling the table a bit out, pushing his hand down once then sat back down on the couch. “See? Its no big deal. Boy.." He tried to catch his eyes, worry replacing his other emotions as the boy continued to shake. He was so upset, talking about it had really hurt him. “I’m not mad.." he added softly, reading the look in his eyes after a second. He wasn’t his father.
It was the water that had made him curse. He was losing his cool. He wasn’t supposed to show emotion like this. He wasn’t supposed to get so upset over it. It was just how it was… He sighed and sat back against the couch, letting Ian do whatever. He still wouldn’t look at Ian. He didn’t want to. He’d see pity, anger, a hatred for his father. Ian would treat him like a child, though he was surprised to hear Ian say he wasn’t mad. He probably was talking about the water though… He managed to get his shaking under control, but he specifically turned his head away from Ian. “Don’t look at me like that. I’m not a child. I can take care of myself. I always have." He was angry at Ian. Ian didn’t understand and he was starting to believe that this whole thing was pointless.
Ian waited for Souji to say something, anything, but was slightly surprised to see that he looked angry. Angry? At him? Okay maybe he was not going about this the right way but, how else could he ask him? This was just awkward. Souji would not even look at him and he didn't want to lose his patience, he didn't want to scare him or get angry at him because that was exactly what the Boy expected. But this was hard. "Hey.." First Date (thehotshothero)
Ian went to the kitchen then returned again with a tall glass of ice water, placing it on the dark brown coffee table under one of the little coasters before taking a seat next to him. He placed his own glass on the table, sighed, then turned to Souji. He couldn’t just circle around it, then everything would be much more awkward. "I’m sorry for freaking out earlier." He sighed again, his eyes trailing to him. "Now that we’re here away from everyone..can you tell me exactly what happened to your back?" He looked at him, his eyes serious, watching for whatever reaction he would get from Souji. He needed to know, he wanted to know, and he felt the tension between them, and wondered if the Boy would be angry for this. Of course he might, and if he was, that meant this was serious.
Souji picked up the glass of water and held it in his hand. The cold was enough to calm him down, but he wasn’t thirsty. Not yet. His throat felt too tight to swallow anything anyway. After a moment and a few deep breaths, Souji found the courage to talk. “I’ve been training to be a swordsman from the day I could walk…" he started slowly. Ian knew that, surely. “Nearly every day of my life, I’ve been learning the assassination sword style from my father. He… was a very strict instructor. He was especially hard on me when Mother left us. I… was not very good at the start." He started to shake, but he kept his voice even. This was hard. Ian would yell at him. He was scared and it was in his eyes. He kept his focus on the water in front of him. “There were a lot of times I failed to block during training. Other times, I showed rebellion and disobedience… Pain is a method of learning too…" He really didn’t want to get into detail and he hoped Ian understood. Each scar was made by his father.
Ian waited patiently, watching him in silence as he spoke about his past. He noticed right off that Souji had to make himself calm before talking and this urged him to scoot a bit closer. He waited and listened closely, folding his hands in front of him. He nodded a bit as he started, trying to think about what it must have been like to train practically all his life. Hard, challenging, and a lot of work. He could imagine it. Ian went still when Souji mentioned his father and mother, looking down for a second, as he got deeper into the Boy’s life. He opened his mouth, then closed it and nodded again though he was sure Souji was not focused on him. Questions popped into his head, about his mother, but he remembered the Boy mentioning to Daigo that his mother left because of his father training him. He looked back up when Souji started to shake and Ian grit his teeth, his eyes narrowing as Souji trailed off. What? Did he just hear right? Pain was a method of learning too? Is that what his father called a good method? Anger started to build inside him, he could feel it but he just shook his head. “He was the one..who put all of those scars on your back…as a way to teach you..or punish you.." His voice was dead calm but underneath there was a fire brewing. “Boy…do you think..that’s right?" God he looked scared, how could he think it was right? It obviously bothered him and hurt him, more than just physically. What kind of father would use pain purposely to teach his own son?
Despite Ian’s best efforts to remain calm, Souji could hear how angry he was. Ian would lash out at him, surely… He adjusted his grip on the glass of water, the condensation making it slippery and his hands were shaking so much. “I don’t know" Souji answered softly. Because of it he became a good swordsman at a young age, enabling him to become a Kyoryuger, even though it hurt so much. “H-He’s lightened up considerably. He really only gets mad when I ditch training a-and… It’s made me into the material needed to be a Kyoryuger…" His voice shook and finally he lost his grip on the water. It fell to the floor and thankfully didn’t shatter on the carpet, but water spilled everywhere. “S-Shit…" He ran his wet hand through his hair and reached down to pick it up.

"Oh, hello! What brings you to this room?" Mayu asked cheerfully.
"Hello miss, I heard you wanted a delivery of food from the Tiger Boy and I am here to grant your wish." Ian walks in with a big smile, a bag in his hand. He had not been happy when Daigo pushed him into being delivery boy, since he was busy being the chef and Amy was the only waitress there. He didn't even work there. But somehow, Daigo had convinced him, but now he didn't mind as much, as soon as he saw the young woman smiling at him. She was very pretty. "You are--" He trailed off and looked down at the paper in his pocket. "-Watanabe Mayu right?" Ian looked up and smiled at her.

First Date (thehotshothero)
Ian glanced back at Souji then turned forward and walked right to his door, number 308. He unlocked the door and walked right in, nodding back to Souji and then gestured to the sleek black leather couch in the middle of what would be, his living room, or the main room. “Have a seat." He closed the door behind him then smiled a bit as Souji spoke. “Yeah, its a nice place, perfect size for me, nice and big and spacious." He grinned a little and then headed to the kitchen area. “Want a drink?" He wanted to be as casual as possible, and to not jump down Souji’s throat, maybe if he was more comfortable this would be easier? The boy looked tense, yet curious, but he knew…he probably wasn’t looking forward to the questions he was going to ask.
Souji followed Ian into his apartment. It was about what Souji had expected. Full of good furniture, artifacts from around the world and most definitely spacious. It was also European style, which was interesting. “Just… water. Water’s fine" he said softly and moved over to the couch to sit, feeling just a little out of place. Ian was trying to act casual, but he could tell. Ian wanted to ask him. Now he just sort of wished Ian would get it over with… Get the yelling and blaming out of the way…
Ian went to the kitchen then returned again with a tall glass of ice water, placing it on the dark brown coffee table under one of the little coasters before taking a seat next to him. He placed his own glass on the table, sighed, then turned to Souji. He couldn't just circle around it, then everything would be much more awkward. "I'm sorry for freaking out earlier." He needed to know, he wanted to know, and he felt the tension between them, and wondered if the Boy would be angry for this. Of course he might, and if he was, that meant this was serious.
First Date (thehotshothero)
Ian waited in tense silence, wondering if seeing those scars was the worse thing that could happen right now, since the Boy wasn’t even speaking to him. They were going to date, so Ian expected Souji to be honest and open, but, he also knew, that was something he would have to work on too. It wasn’t fair for him to pry but Ian was concerned, he wanted to know exactly how he got those scars, they had just thrown him. They all had wounds, they all had cuts and bruises and some scars from battle, but, these were different, they just felt different and Souji’s reaction only confirmed it. And he seemed angry or very wary that he was asking about them. “Boy.."
The brisk answer only had Ian sighing and quietly. No, he wasn’t fine, the tone didn’t reassure him at all. Wordlessly, he took Souji’s hand and tugged him down the street and took a sudden left, leading him away from their usual route to the Tiger Boy. “I don’t believe that for a second." he murmured softly, replying calmly yet his voice was dead serious. He kept walking, faster, keeping the bag in one hand and his hand in the other, moving quickly down the street and down a few blocks until he saw the familiar building come into view; his apartment complex. “Lets talk somewhere with more privacy shall we?" No, he wasn’t going to let it go, he couldn’t, and he was sure the Boy knew that. At the entrance he let go of Souji’s hand and unlocked the front door, then nodded to him. “This way." He gave nothing else, no explanation, just like Souji did to him, and continued to walk, tempted to take his hand again. He wasn’t a child, but he wanted the contact, he didn’t want him to get upset and leave but he trusted that Souji would talk to him once they were completely alone.
Souji was tempted to pull his hand out of Ian’s as he was lead down a different street. Of course Ian didn’t believe it. Ian wasn’t stupid. He looked up when Ian started to slow at the apartment complex. So, this was where Ian lived. Silently, he nodded and didn’t look Ian in the eye. He felt like he was cornered. Ian was going to make him talk about this one way or another. He only hoped Ian wouldn’t yell at him… He followed Ian up to the apartment, staying close to him as they made their way up the stairs. “I didn’t know you lived here. I walk by here on my way to school…" he said quietly.
Ian glanced back at Souji then turned forward and walked right to his door, number 308. He unlocked the door and walked right in, nodding back to Souji and then gestured to the sleek black leather couch in the middle of what would be, his living room, or the main room. "Have a seat." He closed the door behind him then smiled a bit as Souji spoke. "Yeah, its a nice place, perfect size for me, nice and big and spacious." He grinned a little and then headed to the kitchen area. The boy looked tense, yet curious, but he knew...he probably wasn't looking forward to the questions he was going to ask.
First Date (thehotshothero)
Souji paused as Ian didn’t immediately shut the door behind him and whipped his head around as Ian harshly addressed him. What did he do? He had only just reached for his shirt- Oh… Ian had saw his… He took a step back from Ian’s hand that reached out to touch him, nearly hitting the back of the changing room. Did… Did Ian hate him for having those? He didn’t say anything as Ian shut the door and he stayed where he was for a moment. This had been a bad idea. Why had he agreed to this? This was stupid. This was embarrassing and… he didn’t want Ian to know.
He changed quickly, silently and prayed that in that time, Ian would just drop it all together. Quickly, he exited the changing room, keeping his head down as he made a B-line for the cash register, whether Ian talked to him or not.
Ian tried his best to keep his cool, to stay casual and just calmly wait for Souji to finish changing but on the inside, he was filled with sudden anger. Who the hell hurt Souji like that? Who scarred him, and why? Was it just training, did they come from battle, or was it something else? He needed to know, the concern and questions in his head were overwhelming and yet he didn’t want to scare the boy. Dammit! The look on Souji’s face when he saw him was full of wariness, surprise, and fear? No, he wasn’t afraid of him, that was silly, there were friends, teammates, boyfriends..but even so, the boy looked scared. The boy had stepped back and nearly hitting the room behind him and had stepped away from him. Now, he was staring, unable to do anything but wait, cut off from the Boy by one door. He wanted to know, he wanted to ask, but how when the reaction on his face had been so apparently upset? Ian questioned it all, then stood back away from the door when Souji emerged, ready to say something reassuring to him. However, the Boy did not even look at him and zoomed past him before he could. Blinking, Ian turned and followed behind, the concern returning twofold as Souji refused to talk or even look at him. “I’ll pay for them, don’t worry." Ian murmured from behind him, gently taking the suit out of Souji’s tense hands before stepping up to pay for both suits. “Thanks" he said absently to the cashier, then nodded to the Boy, before heading out of the store that now felt very crowded and intrusive to him. Ian waited for them to step out before opening his mouth, not able to really bare much of this silent awkwardness that he now felt. Should he not have said anything? But those scars…they meant something, he knew it did, if the Boy had reacted like that about it. First things first…was to get the boy to talk. He took a breath and let it out softly, before asking exactly what he wanted. “Are you okay?" The words left his mouth slowly and Ian looked over to Souji, staying close to his side.
Souji let Ian take the swimsuit without so much as a sniff. He certainly wasn’t going to wear that without a shirt now… He stuffed his hands into his pockets and moved on ahead while Ian paid for them, completely shut off. He wouldn’t look at Ian. They were dating, so secrets were meant to get out eventually, but this was too fast for his liking… Not that he would’ve volunteered the information anyway. They started walking again and Ian started in on it. This probably wouldn’t be the end of the questions either. Well… At least he wasn’t being that tactless. “I’m fine" he said, his voice as sharp as the blade he wielded and he didn’t offer any other information other than that. He’d answer Ian’s questions… He wanted to be somewhere slightly more private though. Maybe Ian’s place, if it was close by.
Ian waited in tense silence, wondering if seeing those scars was the worse thing that could happen right now, since the Boy wasn't even speaking to him. They were going to date, so Ian expected Souji to be honest and open, but, he also knew, that was something he would have to work on too. It wasn't fair for him to pry but Ian was concerned, he wanted to know exactly how he got those scars, they had just thrown him. They all had wounds, they all had cuts and bruises and some scars from battle, but, these were different, they just felt different and Souji's reaction only confirmed it. And he seemed angry or very wary that he was asking about them. "Boy.." The brisk answer only had Ian sighing and quietly. No, he wasn't fine, the tone didn't reassure him at all. Wordlessly, he took Souji's hand and tugged him down the street and took a sudden left, leading him away from their usual route to the Tiger Boy. "I don't believe that for a second." he murmured softly, replying calmly yet his voice was dead serious. He kept walking, faster, keeping the bag in one hand and his hand in the other, moving quickly down the street and down a few blocks until he saw the familiar building come into view; his apartment complex. "Lets talk somewhere with more privacy shall we?" No, he wasn't going to let it go, he couldn't, and he was sure the Boy knew that. At the entrance he let go of Souji's hand and unlocked the front door, then nodded to him. "This way." He gave nothing else, no explanation, just like Souji did to him, and continued to walk, tempted to take his hand again. He wasn't a child, but he wanted the contact, he didn't want him to get upset and leave but he trusted that Souji would talk to him once they were completely alone.
I can only imagine Kyoryu Grey sitting there next to his waterfall painstakingly making this small model. I wonder how long it took him to do this. HE LIKES TO BUILD.

Ian smiled as Souji looked down at his body, watching him try to process the compliment he just gave him. It was fun to see the Boy absorb the attention and react to it, but it also pleased him that Souji seemed happy about it. But when he suddenly answered him so matter-of-fact like, Ian could not help but hold in a chuckle. He nodded, looking down his thighs and legs, then back up again, noticing very much so that the suit hugged every curve to him. Comfort was always good too. “Alright, great. That’s a good choice for you, Boy." He let his smile linger on Souji’s face for a moment longer, giving him a bit more attention before backing up. As Souji turned to get his shirt, Ian lifted his hand to shut the door for him so no one would see him, and then froze on the spot as the boy’s back came into view. He immediately saw…a long scar down his back wrapping around towards his side and Ian could not help but stare, startled by the image.
The scars were long and narrow and all over his back, most of them faded and some a little shorter and darker than others. “What…Boy?!" He muttered harshly, not even thinking as he walked forward, blocking the room’s view from anyone else as he nearly reached out to touch one before stopping himself. He shook his head, holding back his urge to bring them up and took a step away. No, this wasn’t the time, but, those scars, all over his back, what happened? Training? But how did he get so many, and who? “I’ll..I’ll be here.." Ian said to Souji, reaching up and closing the door for him before he could say anything stupid. He would let Souji change back first, he could confront him later, and he would. Ian waited next to the door, waiting for Souji to change back before he paid for the bathing suits. At the moment, the only thing on his mind was now Souji..and those scars on his back.
