The First Kyoryuger. The Clashing Hero

Bunpachi snorted and Tessai smiled slightly. “He doesn’t expect you to. Your head wouldn’t be able to take it.” Tessai eyed the device curiously, but said nothing as he heard him call his partner. He looked up as he heard the roar, standing stock still even in the strong wind caused by the pterodactyl landing. Once he was introduced, Tessai bowed politely. “It is an honor to meet you.” Bunpachi walked a little closer to Top, observing him, before looking back to Tessai. Tessai coughed into his fist, hiding a chuckle. “No, I don’t believe this one is powered by batteries either.”

Top observed Bunpachy when he came closer before he turned his head to his partner. "He is not purple like Bachycelo." Mikoto couldn´t help but laugh softly when he heard how disappointed his partner sounded. "Of course he isn´t. You saw him first, you shouldn´t sound so disappointed. Just be glad that he isn´t pink.” He shook his head at his partner before he went a bit closer to Bunpachi, looking up at him. "My partner runs without batteries. We´re linked through a spiritual energy that gives us power. But that´s not all, he and the other Bakuryuu can talk, some of them don´t know how to be silence at all." He explained for the dinosaur before he turned to Tessai, meanwhile Top narrowed his eyes at his partners words.

Bunpachi blew a puff of air at Top, and commented dryly. 'Pteragordon has better manners, but you don't hear me complaining, young one.' He looked back at Tessai, who nodded, taking his cue to explain. "The Zyudenryu get their powers from the batteries that hold the spirits of their species. They cannot speak out loud, but if you are brave enough, you can hear them."

Tessai dipped his head. “Well, then, I am not one who does not understand loneliness." He dropped his hand from the waterfall and clasped it behind his back. Behind the waterfall, the red eyes blinked and moved forward with deliberate care. The large armoured head with the end of his tail guarding it was the first part of him to emerge, but soon the rest of Bunpachi stood in front of the two of them. He leaned in towards Tessai and gently bumped his head against his, and was gently headbutted in return. Then he turned to observe Mikoto.

The waterfall? He should have known, Top and Stego had been the same when it came to hiding places. He looked on as Bunpachi and Tessai interacted with each other and smiled a bit. Some things would probably always be the same no matter which team it was. Mikoto bowed his head when the dinosaur finally turned to him. “Hello Bunpachi. I hope you´ll understand that I´m not going to headbutt you as greeting." He smiled a bit more and inclined his head before he raised his left arm and pulled the sleeve away, revealing the device under it. "Top? Can you come here? I found someone very interesting." He got no answer, but knew that his partner was on his way nonetheless. A few moments later a high pitched roar could be heard in the distance, coming closer quickly. Mikoto looked around the area around the small river for a moment. “It´s a bit narrow, but I think you can land here." He spoke in the device and again recieved no response. The sudden strong wind was the first sign that someone was coming, a moment later a large white pterodactyl flew over the two humans and the dinosaur before it landed a bit awkwardly next to his partner. "It´s too narrow." “I did warn you." Mikoto pointed out before he turned back to Tessai and his partner. "This is my partner TopGaler."

"Utsusemimaru, hmm?" Tessai remained facing the falls, even as regret crossed his face. He should have been involved sooner with Gold. “So a pteradactoyl, and a warrior with the power of a dinosaur. What brings you after Bunpachi, if you have a partner of your own?" There was a very faint hint of a joke in his voice, if listened to hard enough.

"I knew a Pachycephalosaurus named Bachycelo once, he was part of our team … call it nostalgia." He shrugged before he sat down on the side of the small river and continued to watch Tessai. "Top is the only one left in this world, all the others are back in their homeworld." He said after a few moments. "He doesn´t admit it, but I think he´s lonely. He only has me and I don´t think I´m a suitable replacement for his friends."

Tessai dipped his head. "Well, then, I am not one who does not understand loneliness." He dropped his hand from the waterfall and clasped it behind his back. Behind the waterfall, the red eyes blinked and moved forward with deliberate care. The large armoured head with the end of his tail guarding it was the first part of him to emerge, but soon the rest of Bunpachi stood in front of the two of them. He leaned in towards Tessai and gently bumped his head against his, and was gently headbutted in return. Then he turned to observe Mikoto.

Tessai nodded. “My first successor nearly vanished when his partner’s battery was invaded by Debo Virussum." He walked over to the near-by waterfall, and let the water run off his hand. “So you have a partner of your own?" Behind the waterfall, two red eyes blinked open, but otherwise nothing moved.

He watched the other going over to the waterfall before he nodded. "Mhm, I have. Utsusemimaru and I have one or two things in common, but I´m not Gold, my color is white." He stated, curious if the other would be able to make the connection as to what his partner was.

"Utsusemimaru, hmm?" Tessai remained facing the falls, even as regret crossed his face. He should have been involved sooner with Gold. "So a pteradactoyl, and a warrior with the power of a dinosaur. What brings you after Bunpachi, if you have a partner of your own?" There was a very faint hint of a joke in his voice, if listened to hard enough.

"I do not know. I never had the chance to go there. Just popped right back up. For all I know, I will remain here so long as Bunpachi does, as our powers are linked. I will disappear when he does. Or I will be allowed to move on when the battle is over." Tessai raised an eyebrow. “From the way you speak, may I assume that you have been there?"

"You´re linked, eh? My partner and I are the same. Dragged him with me out of the afterlife when I came back to the world of the living." He mused, answering Tessais questions without so much of a second thought.

Tessai nodded. "My first successor nearly vanished when his partner's battery was invaded by Debo Virussum." He walked over to the near-by waterfall, and let the water run off his hand. Tessai raised an eyebrow as he was poked, and shook his head. “I’m what’s called a Spirit Ranger. My spirit will continue fighting Deboss until the enemy is defeated." His eyes got an amused glint to them. “Torin’s reaction when I walked up to him was quite amusing."

"Hm, so once those Deboss guys are defeated you´ll stop having this form and go to the nice white place with the soft light?" He pointed up towards the sky with his right thumb while he continued to look at Tessai. "You´ll probably like it there. It´s quite cosy if you´re into that. But don´t expect them to let you fight or stuff like that, they don´t like it very much if someone tries to rampage a bit to have some fun." He shrugged as if it was completely normal to talk about those things.

"I do not know. I never had the chance to go there. Just popped right back up. For all I know, I will remain here so long as Bunpachi does, as our powers are linked. I will disappear when he does. Or I will be allowed to move on when the battle is over." Tessai raised an eyebrow. "From the way you speak, may I assume that you have been there?"

"Well, dying tends to halt the aging process nicely. And as for the Ulshades… well, the doctor is rather difficult to describe. Uniquely odd man. I did not get to know the girl."

"Dying …?" He tilted his head while he looked the other up and down. "You look pretty alive to me." He mused as he reached out and poked Tessais shoulder. That felt like a solid body. “Did that odd old man gave you a new body or how are you able to be in this form?" It was the first time that he was more interested in the man than his dinosaur partner.

Tessai raised an eyebrow as he was poked, and shook his head. "I'm what's called a Spirit Ranger. My spirit will continue fighting Deboss until the enemy is defeated." His eyes got an amused glint to them. "Torin's reaction when I walked up to him was quite amusing."

Tessai smiled slightly. “Oh, he’s still a young one to me. I started fighting Deboss over 1500 years ago with Bunpachi." He pulled out his partner’s battery. “I didn’t have quite such a useful device as this then. That was all Violet and his granddaughter."

"1500 years ago? But you´re still looking good for your age." He looked at the battery and nodded. "I haven´t met them yet. What are they like, that Violet and his granddaughter?"

Headcanon: Fighting Bunpachi

Tessai is a martial artist, and naturally, does not fight with weapons. So when he fought Bunpachi, he did so with his bare hands.

He eventually managed to defeat Bunpachi, and gain his approval. This may or may not have involved headbutting him until he gave in.

"Kyoryuger… That explains the robot dinosaurs, I suppose. What exactly are you fighting?"

"The Deboss Army, the force behind the extinction of the dinosaurs. They seek to destroy the dominant species on a planet, to make it go extinct. They succeeded in destroying the dinosaurs, but they will not be so lucky with humanity."

"Deboss…" She mused, trying to remember where she had heard that. “Oh… The angry lion man. You fight him?"

"So you have met Dogold. Yes, him and those like him. For over 1,500 years."

"He reminded me a bit of my son’s cat…"

"Must be quite the angry animal."

Tessai tilted his head in acknowledgement. “So you know of us. You must have met some of the young ones. Yes, I am." He knocked his head again. “I am remarkably hard headed, after all."

"Mhm, I´ve met all six of them." He nodded. "But I´m not so sure if I would call Utsusemimaru young. I mean, do you count his normal age plus the 400 years he was sealed away?" He looked down at his hands, pretending to count with them for a moment before he looked back up at the other, frowning a little when Tessai knocked himself on the head again. He knew that he and his partner shared a few character traits, but that it was the same with this guy and the hard headed dinosaur …

Tessai smiled slightly. "Oh, he's still a young one to me. I started fighting Deboss over 1500 years ago with Bunpachi." He pulled out his partner's battery. "I didn't have quite such a useful device as this then. That was all Violet and his granddaughter."

"Yep. He’d be around here." Tessai smiled, and swung his legs. “Like I said, nothing here but old relics." He dropped down from the tree next to the other man, and tapped his own head with his fist. “Especially the hard headed ones."

Mikoto looked at the other and nodded slowly. Did this guy just called himself a relic? But if he knew of the dinosaur then … could it be …? "Are you a Kyoryuger and the pachycephalosaur is your partner?" He asked the other, a hopeful tone in his voice. Could he actually be lucky for once? It was so long since he had seen one himself.

Tessai tilted his head in acknowledgement. "So you know of us. You must have met some of the young ones. Yes, I am." He knocked his head again. "I am remarkably hard headed, after all."

"Grey…" She tilted her head slightly. "…Super Sentai. Like the Gokaiger?" It was a little outside of her field of experience but she’d learned a bit about them and found it to be interesting.

"I suppose so. Although it wasn’t much of a Sentai when I first started. Just myself and Torin and Bunpachi. There wasn’t a proper team up until this year."

"Interesting… That certainly sounds different from what I’ve heard of otehr groups…"

"Well, I was the first Kyoryuger. But I suppose it is rather different."

"Kyoryuger… That explains the robot dinosaurs, I suppose. What exactly are you fighting?"
