Desserts in a jar you say?
Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending Goodie Jarz mixer located at Willowbrook Mall in Houston, TX.
Goodie Jarz is a Houston-based company started by Christian Simmons and Dawnyel Holcomb. The love of desserts alike brought these long time friends together and Goodie Jarz was started.
At the mixer, the ladies had DELICIOUS sample mini vanilla cupcakes with cream cheese frosting and mini vanilla bundt cakes. Also on display, were banana pudding, strawberry cheesecake, and Hersey pie in 4 oz and 8 oz jars.
Everything was amazing to say the least and I can not wait to attend the next Goodie Jarz event.
If looking to order please contact:
Christian (281) 914-5841 or Dawnyel (832) 528-5719 or at the website

Can you send him a drink on me?
So ever since Erykah Badu released her “Can’t call my phone” mixtape that has been the only thing playing in my car. If you haven’t listened to it please do. It is a continuation to Drake’s, “Hotline Bling”. With listening to Queen Badu I’ve gotten this urge to just take control and take initiative. Which made me wonder how many women take initiative and when is the right time to?
Ladies, picture this… You’re out with your girls, you’re looking good and you make eye contact with a good looking guy, do you go to him first or wait for him to make a move? Or for someone in a more personal setting, you’re out with some friends and your crush is there. He seems flirting and you’re flirty, what do you do? If you’re anything like me, with the right about of alcohol and confidence  you turn into Kelis and have all the boys in the yard. But what if your not?
It seems like since birth, we’ve always been told to let a man do for us first. Approach us first, pull our chair out, or open our door; while I love the modern gentleman and all of that is nice but sometimes a chick just wanna do for herself. Which shouldn’t be an issue right? Right?! Now don’t get me wrong, if it’s a first date please believe that your are opening the door and you are pulling out the chair. However, once that level of comfortability has set in, I want to seat myself and I also want to pay the tab, occasionally. And if a man is secure in his masculinity then that shouldn’t be an issue.
Now, with taking initiative and finding your inner Beyoncé, you don’t want to belittle your man or make him feel less than you. Know that, y’all are equal and you can do for him and YOURSELF just like he can.
As women, we should not have to hold back with being upfront. The worse thing someone can say is no. And if no is the answer then you put on your big girl panties and you move on. Of course, there will be times of nervousness but always believe that you have the confidence of Trina in “Look Back At Me”.
All in all try something different, buy that cutie a drink at the bar that you made eye contact with, rub on your crush’s leg while y’all are at the game table, it’s all about taking a chance. Never know, you could find the one by making the first move. -The Homie
La Table’s Happy Hour
Originally named Phillipe’s, La Table has been the number one spot for an all day Happy Hour. Table is currently under renovation transitioning from Table on Post Oak to a prime French bakery and restaurant. Whether you’re dining downstairs in the lounge or upstairs in the formal dining area, you just have to take advantage of this all day, everyday happy hour.

Hump Day Fun
If you’re looking for some mid-week fun then please check out Avant Garden.
Every Wednesday, as part of my daily creeping I would look on snapchat and I would see my friends at this cottage type bar having the time of their lives. So after a little research and with my new boots in hand, I went to Avant Garden. AND. IT. WAS. LIT.
With a DJ on each floor of their 2-story structure you’ll never be without music. They also have cash bar specials, from $2 beer to $5 long islands. So if you want more bang for your buck I suggest you carry cash.
However, per the drunk girl in the restroom I met, if hip hop music is not for you the Wednesday is not the day to come. She also says that Thursday’s are just as good.
So, on Wednesday don’t meet me there beat me there and maybe your first drink will be on me.
*Side note: I’m in the process of testing apparel so if you would like a shirt, hoodie, etc please email me. -The Homie
