And I can totally picture Phanos doing that with a cheerful grin on his face. But good to hear you guys are doing okay. I do worry about you two even when Iām incommunicado. Though Iām sorry to hear about your troubles on that front.
I shall consider myself long distance blessed. I told my cat and he went and fetched one of my many burned socks that he has claimed so I donāt know if that means he is extending the same greeting back or just wanting to play.Ā

To be honest Iām not sure I can qualify it asĀ āhaving a lifeā. Iāve kinda been. Not really here? Mostly just auto-piloting nowadays. Then I remember that, oh, yeah, friends are a thing I have and I should check on them before they get worried. Thatās when I find out how long Iāve actually been out of it.
Tell her majesty the magnificent ballcat that I say hi back, and give her a pat or a hug or whatever sort of affection she prefers from me.

Donāt you anons dareĀ presume to speak for me, particularly when it comes to how I interact with my friends. Just because Iāve been busy trying to find my equilibrium and getting both my life and the ghost crap in order doesnāt mean I donāt miss my friends when I donāt see them for long periods of time.

The smile seemed to work. Danny returned it, although much more genuine.Ā āNext Iāll try not to work you so hard, yeah? You want another smoothie? Iāll buy.ā They probably shouldnāt fill up on lots of food after training, but did Danny care? Not in the slightest. His eating habits were about as good as his mental health.
So not good.
āSo did I really shock you that much with my raw skill? I have to say I have been getting pretty good lately.ā
An internal sigh of relief weighed heavily in Valerieās chest, simultaneously thankful and surprised that Danny seemed to buy her excuse. Then again, they werenāt as close as they could have been, and Danny hadnāt had time or reason to learn any tells she had yet. In any case it granted her reprieve from questioning, at least for now.
āPfft, you wish!ā Valerie responded to Dannyās quip, her tone teasing.Ā āBelieve it or not Iāve got other stuff I occasionally worry about too. Sure, youāre getting stronger and got more endurance... but itās gonna be a while before you have the finesse.ā She shook her head.Ā āIāll pass on the extra smoothie, though thanks for the offer.ā She couldnāt help herself, and she glanced at Dannyās glove yet again.Ā āSo... um. Have you noticed any... I dunno... weird side effects from that thing?ā It certainly had taken her own suit a long time, with a lot of tiny changes she didnāt notice until much later.

āYou seem nervous.ā Danny was sitting across from Valerie at a smoothie shop. The two of them had just been training together. Dannyās physical strength was much better than it used to be. He could hold his own in a fight against her nowāthough he had the sneaking suspicion she was going easy on him.
As it was, he hadnāt missed the nervous glances to the glove he now always wore. To anyone else it was just a weird fashion statement, but everyone who knew Danny knew it housed the suit he wore when traveling the ghost zone. He didnāt bring any weapons with him to this outing, but the suit went everywhere with him. Everywhere.
Valerie had been trying. Really, she had! All throughout training she managed to ignore the fact that Danny had been suited up, choosing to pretend that he had just made himself some sort of fancy outfit rather than the intricate and potentially dangerous weapon that it actually was. Still, she was taking things somewhat easy on him, not wanting to over-strain the suitās abilities. Not after what had happened to her. She didnāt want to subject Danny to her fate after everything heād already endured.
She snapped out of her musing at Dannyās voice, giving a grimace at being called out.Ā āItās nothing,ā she assured him, pointedly tearing her gaze away from Dannyās glove to her own smoothie so she didnāt keep eyeing it like a potentially venomous snake.Ā āSorry, just a little spacey right now is all.ā She attempted a smile which hopefully didnāt look fake. She was pretty good at those... or at least she used to be.
