I’m just so not fucking okay. My grandmother passed away yesterday morning and she shouldn’t have. She was so damn healthy and took such good care of herself but the stupid fucking hospital messed up. They messed up so bad and killed her and it’s not fucking fair.

She went in for knee surgery. Knee surgery. And she died because the staff at this hospital are literally the worst and can’t do their fucking jobs. All they had to do was connect her to the freaking heart monitor machines and all that other shit but no. They left my 80 year old grandma ALONE in a stupid room unsupervised, connected to literally nothing after a surgery that she never even woke up from because they gave her too strong an anesthesia even though she had documented trouble with anesthesia.

Because she was literally connected to nothing, the staff didn’t notice she had a fucking stroke and stopped breathing. It’s literally only luck a nurse happened to walk in and find her unresponsive and revive her. They don’t even know how long she was without oxygen because for an entire hour not one single nurse/doctor felt the need to check on her or her vitals.

And making it all even worse...she survived that. She was in a coma for days, fighting to survive after what they did to her. My grandmother was fighting so hard to wake up, they gave her 24 hours and she made it 3 whole days. She even began to breathe all on her own. Was starting to open her eyes. She went from essential brain dead, having no response to anything, to breathing and even slightly moving. My family went from planning a funeral to planning on which rehab or whatever to send her to for when she would wake up because she was trying to. Trying so hard...and she still didn’t make it. It’s not fucking fair. It wasn’t her time, it really wasn’t her time.

can we talk about how derek is the strongest character, tho? not physically, but mentally. imagine how fucking hard it had to be for him to just sit right besides the daughter of the family that took his away. how much self-restraint that man has, because let me tell you that entire scene could have played out oh so differently.

he could have taken his revenge right then and there. derek could have killed allison, could have left her body at the argents fucking doorstep. wouldn’t matter she was innocent in all this, because so was derek’s family.

but i’d bet my money that that thought never even crosses his mind because derek isn’t a monster, isn’t a killer.

instead of lashing out or attacking allison in any way, he just digs his claws into the rubber of the steering wheel’s cover and listens to her idle teenaged chatter all the way to her house, to safety.

his life is the perfect set up to be the villain, to be the horrific big bad wolf that tears into people without a second thought. but no, derek fucking hale is instead a fucking hero who only wants to help and if that isn’t strength idk what is.

like imagine that full scenario played out, Derek walking up to her all smiles and charm, giving her some story about why Scott ran off but not to worry he can bring her home. And Allison is smart, she wouldn’t just leave with a guy she doesn’t know which means she trusted Derek within the few minutes they talked. Grumpy, sourwolf Hale who is the worst at holding conversations talked to Allison for a short while and gained her trust. He was sweet and charming and kind to the daughter of the family who killed his.

Then picture the actual drive home. Picture the small talk Ally would try to start, because she’s sweet and kind and new to town, she’d want to make friends. And poor Derek just gripping the steering wheel as tight as he can without breaking it, because he’s not about to have a casual conversation with an Argent of all people. But Allison would just keep going, eventually bringing up the topic of Scott since it’s all they have in common at the time as far as she knows. Imagine Ally just being all “Scott seemed so nice” “I can’t believe he ditched me” “I really thought he liked me”. Poor Derek just sitting there just nodding his head or making vague noises to let her know he’s listening cuz he’s the last person to comment on the relationship between a hunter and a wolf.

After a few moments Derek just finally calming down enough to actually listen to Allison, take in all she is. Not a single word she says is cruel, she’s not even angry at Scott, Derek can smell the sadness and confusion coming off her like waves but not a single hint of anger. She’s just like a normal teenage girl, and Derek easily puts together that she must not be a hunter, not yet. Allison is too kind, too soft. Not yet hardened and cold like all the hunters he’s ever encountered. No wolfsbane or gunpowder staining her scent. This calms his wolf immensely, but he still knows the rest of her family is a danger, knows that the second that they caught wind of him back in town they’d come for him, come for Scott the instant they knew a wolf was sniffing around their daughter.

Now imagine Derek boldly driving up to the Argent house, every single nerve in his body on edge. Allison hopping out of the car, thanking him for being so nice, for giving her a ride home even when he didn’t have to. Allison just thinking he’s some sweet older guy who helped her when she needed it. Derek again just nodding, still not bothering with actual words. But as Ally turns he just reaches out and stops her, telling her to be careful and that “his friend Scott” has a lot going on in his life right now. Because really that’s the best warning he can give her that keeps Scott and himself out of harms way. Besides, Derek can protect Allison if needed, keep Scott away from her for his own safety as well as her’s.
