There are many people who don’t share this sentiment, but I have an appreciation for when a fanfic is so separated from canon that it could’ve easily been its own original novel, and yet the author was only ever going to put that much energy into it if their favourite characters got to be there
I think there’s a difference between “the author stripped the media of everything it had to replace it with something easy” and “the author thought up a concept they really really like and are bestowing it upon the character like a medal”
it's the opposite of sanding off the serial numbers. like you really invented a brand-new AU just to put your blorbos in. you built an entire world just for them to play in. it's like rat park but for blorbos. i love you so much i invented whole new situations just for you. beautiful
and a little borzoi design

i love scrolling past x reader fics
he is NOT doing that to me
they should invent putting on sunscreen that doesn't feel like putting on sunscreen
Me when there’s a good drink:
santa claus but instead of naughty or nice i judge if uve been banal or avant garde
imagine getting sold to a band you aren’t a fan of that would just be so awkward
another pet peeve I have with fiction is when the narrative treats the need to leave an illusory or fantasy reality for The Real World as self-evident
nooo ha ha don’t remain in the dimension you feel at home in you’re so sexy aha you have a moral obligation to live out a specific set of expectations that has been foisted upon you by western society please come conform to them it’s the only way to be truly happy
your emotionally abusive parents miss you come back to the real world and make amends it’s immature and immoral of you to want to remain in a world where you have agency and are not systematically oppressed
i’m gonna call- (remembers i hate cops) steam support on you
eyes emoji was the perfect invention for nosy people. like 👀 whats going on over here 👀👀 i just wanna know #LetMeKnow 👀👀👀
i hate when an arranged marriage fic is like "author's note: nothing sexual happens until both parties are completely ready and willing" and im like 😞 not even a little dubcon for giacomo?
I love, love, love the ending!!
We say goodbye to the blue castle (for now) while knowing Valancy's blue castle is going with her on exciting new adventures.
The pets are safe, the Stirlings are never going to bother her again, and she has 2 million dollars.
"Well, I think I’ll run away, too, and disgrace myself. It seems to pay."
I actually love this line. Love it for Olive, I mean. It indicates the kind of frank communication and humour in Olive and Cecil's relationship that I would not have suspected based on everything else.
This is the same Olive who was all "Let me tell you what scandalous thing Valancy said" to her father the night Barney's car broke down.
But her letter to Cecil is journal-like in its honesty.
I mean, it's as catty as ever, but she's allowed to snark to her fiance!
Even though the whole passage could be read as bitter (and there is a note of bitterness for sure), I actually think Olive is just being her usual snooty, disapproving self while having found a place to be more open and vulnerable in Cecil.
And it makes me like them both a little bit more than I had at any point in the book.
