A piece of me! The first time I went to Delhi..alone...was in the final year of my graduation. It was for the entrance examinations being held at Delhi. Sole reason for choosing Delhi rather than the centres near my College Campus was I could reach out to various people if I was stuck in any unexpected situation. I recall very clearly, I was scared to death when I got off Ranikhet Express at Old Delhi Railway Station at 4:30 in the chilling morning of January, 2018. I wasn't sure if I would be able to roam across the city. As the naive girl I was, I went to the waiting room to wait for the sun to come up, since my exam was scheduled for the second half of the day. On the way I grabbed a few snacks from McDonald's and sat there scrolling through my social media accounts. Coincidentally, a cousin brother, who was staying in Gurgaon, called up and asked what I was doing. Now, on a normal day, I'd have been pissed for calling me this early but that day, I got a scolding since I forgot to tell him I was visiting Delhi. He asked me to take the next metro to his place. Although I was scared, I somehow agreed. As soon as the freezing air hit my face and the crowd in front of the Chandni Chowk Metro Station came into my view, my brain was flooded with all the unpleasant news and incidents I'd read till date. Gathering all my courage, I walked to the gate and stood at a distance from the crowd (as they were mainly men 🤷🏻♀️). After a while the gates were thrown open to the passengers and everyone rushed in. I waited for them to clear out and in few minutes, I finally entered the metro station, alone. Saying that I was confused & lost would be an understatement. Somehow, I managed to navigate through all the crowded metro lines and finally reached the destined station. No matter how many times I have travelled via metros at wee hours, the way I felt that day can never be the same. One thing I learnt that day - Irrespective of what it is, if we try to hold things in a certain purview...they'll always be difficult to experience it in the most raw forms. So let the prejudices go!! 🤗 (at Chandni Chowk | चांदनी चौक Metro Station) https://www.instagram.com/p/CCd-Y7GAsko/?igshid=xfcnl67wtxoc
