We went to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park on a recent trip to Japan. There were many things from survivors on display. This was the most heartbreaking for me. This bike and helmet were owned by 3-year-old Shinichi Tetsutani who died from the blast. His father thought that Shinichi was too young to be buried in a lonely grave away from home so he buried his son in their backyard. He also buried these two with his boy because he thought Shinichi, who was always riding this bike, would still want to "ride" his bike.
