American Horror Story: Murder House S01E11 Birth
what I love about devil's minion is everything's insane. the canon is insane, it's already nuts.
Daniel says onscreen: hey it feels like everyone's been raptured and I'm just staring at my maker, Amand. that's happened to you too, right Louis (famous loverboy and centuries long tumultuous-romance-haver Louis) right Louis, you too?
and Louis is like: nah, that's new
microdosing on catharsis by watching a fictional character or persona i relate to have an emotional breakdown until my chest starts to ache from the amount i've repressed
I'm in a little local cafe and the women behind the counter started griping to each other, "Oh Christ, Stephen's back again," "It's him, is it? I thought he'd stopped coming," "It's definitely him, look, it's bloody Stephen on a Thursday morning," "Do you want me to get rid of him or are you going to do it?" and so I was peering outside, trying to spot this nightmare customer, this pestilence of a person, this pox upon the cafe trade, and then one of the women from behind the counter ran outside, clapping two trays together loudly and yelling "GET OUT OF IT, STEPHEN!" and it turns out that Stephen is an absolutely gigantic fuck-off seagull who hangs around outside, menacing people for crumbs
she wants that cookie so effin bad dee girl CONTROL YOURSELF 😭
One thing that's interesting to me as we get into the Lestat POV after being in Louis' is that yes, both of them are unreliable narrators in their own ways, but VERY differently. In IWTV, Louis has told himself this same story over and over again. He's curated it. He's refined the narrative (with some major help from Armand both lying about, uhhh some major events, and at least in the SanFran ep, messing with his memory). Louis doesn't THINK he's being unreliable at all, least of all lying. This IS the story to him. It only starts breaking when Daniel pushes back. "Was it raining, Louis?" and "He didn't save you. Lestat did!" and the entire turning Claudia scene. Bits of the truth start seeping into the cracks in the story. Suddenly, Louis' whole life get broken open and he gets out of his own head. Many of the things he's lived the last 70 years of his life telling himself AREN'T true. But he was so convinced of these things that he wasn't TRYING to be unreliable, but god was he. I think all the time about the first glimpse of him cutting Lestat's throat and doing it coldly, and then later, we actually see him sobbing over Lestat's almost-dead body. That's one of the first moments when he realizes he's been lying to himself.
When you get to Lestat, at least going off of these first two episodes (and things I've heard about episode 3) Lestat is a lot more aware of when he's lying and when he's not, at least most of the time. When he has his first panic attack, he talks about the vampire armor he built to protect himself against his past traumas because he doesn't want to think about them! We see some memories that are smoother and more fluid when he's telling us the story and probably leaving stuff out because he doesn't want to talk about it (like the Auvergne scenes) but when he's thinking about something that he doesn't WANT to be thinking about (like the scenes where he turns his mother and they kill the family) they come in fragments without as much dialogue. He's constructed this persona based around how people perceive him, and he's VERY aware that it IS a persona. But hey, maybe it'll keep him safe, right? Maybe he won't get left again.
I could be wrong! We're only two seasons in. But I think it's just so clever on the part of the showrunners.
sabrina carpenter films her feather music video in a church in brooklyn > outcry at her being sexy in a church > the priest in charge of the church is investigated and stripped of his duties > the investigation reveals business deals between the priest and then mayor of NYC eric adams > adams is investigated further and is indicted on bribery, campaign finance, and conspiracy offenses > the charges are dropped by trump administration in exchange for help with ice raids and he can run for reelection > nyc obvious says fuck that guy and he drops out > zohran mamdani runs for mayor and wins
THE MUPPET SHOW (2026)
And like I genuinely am loath to negatively discuss women’s bodies online and I think the way that famous women’s bodies are up for discussion online and in the press is upsetting and dehumanising and I feel a lot of compassion for women who are struggling with eating disorders and body image issues in the public eye however the fucking mass weight loss happening to all famous women either through eating disorders or weight loss medication cannot just go uncommented on. Nearly every single famous woman got skeletal overnight and it is so incredibly worrying both for them and for what it signals to other women and girls about how they should look.
Just saw a post of a Lestat hater claiming everyone unhappy about the Auvergne flashbacks are ungrateful Lestat stans right after a post of a Lestat stan claiming everyone unhappy about the Auvergne flashbacks are Lestat haters who want tvl to flop. 10/10 no notes they should kiss about it

Because if you demonstrate to me that you're willing to set aside concern for truth, evidence, and verifying things with your own eyes whenever it happens to be inconvenient for you, I have a solemn responsibility to make sure you don't get into medical school.
"oh, but this course is just a distribution requirement, it's not for my major"
Does saying things that are true and that you know are true only matter when someone is giving you a little prize for it?
Tumblr doesn't like to do this kind of ethics, so I have to phrase this carefully, but it's a question of character. And a person's character is clearest when they're being asked to do the right thing even when it doesn't matter to them.
I don't want to live in a world in which doctors and lawyers and politicians just ignore the responsibility to research and verify when it's inconvenient for them. When they're busy. When they have something they'd rather be doing. The world I live in is already too full of those people in positions of power. I'll be damned if I let there be more of them.
