ABIGAIL IS UNSURE WHAT HE MEANS EXACTLY, but there's reasonable doubt the man knows anything about how she feels. How can he? Not many people can say their father killed people so he wouldn't kill them. Maybe it's the fear of the men she's had the misfortune of being raised by and knowing; seeing them for monsters but she can feel it in her guts. He's another one, and that fear sinks into her, gooseflesh raised on pale skin to the point she can feel her hair stand on end. She approaches this afraid if the wrong thing is said he'll be set off. There's going to be a day when men no longer set her on edge, but for now she'll treat him like a startled deer she's hunting. "What feeling is that? Fear? Loneliness? Regret? You'll need to be more specific ..... I feel more than one thing at once often." Assuming what he means could expose her for being a monster too. Trust is not something she's willing to give out so easily. "Tell me what it is I'm meant to understand and I'll tell you if I do or not."

MOST DAYS SHE FEELS SHATTERED , damaged goods or whatever. She knows, gods, she knows most people aren't out to get her. The words bring about some complicated mix of feelings welling inside, threatening to spill out in tears she blinks back. It's like victim has been branded on her very soul and Abigail hates herself for the flinch away. "I know. Don't worry.... I don't get hurt very often these days. After awhile you grow used to it enough that it all just seems.... predictable. I'm always waiting for when the bad happens that I forget to cherish the good moments... but the good never lasts. since early childhood abigail had collected over 200 little animal figurines displayed on shelves through her room. the last 8 bought after the death of all those sad girls she sees when she looks in the mirror. of course after her dad was killed and she nearly died her collection was packed up and she had to get rid of it because she would have nowhere to put them at the hospital in a verse where she lives she would start collecting again
