@thejaxon-reed
Shit happened, right? It just so happened it was all his fault this time. Even if he might not admit it. Jaxon was not proud of how he had handled the situation with his boyfriend, let alone the way matters appeared to have lined up somehow...but he needed a little bit of time to stew in it. Give Hollis the space he needed. It don't mean it wasn't hard, though. Big picture? He had ruined the only good thing to ever happen to him after Lucille for the exact same reason: appearances. The discomfort it caused him to seem anything other than tough.. or maybe it was fear?
Eitherway, the alpha was in a mood tonight. In fact, he was the one to sit alone this time..at some..cafeteria early in the morning, his arms bent over the table as he looked down on his coffee. His body language should have been a giveaway but someone did not care to notice.."If you know what's good for you, you'll get out of my face in two seconds." the male said without looking who had just touched his arm. And he meant it.

Jaxon followed Hollisâ nod with a solemn shake of his head, completely at a loss for words. That was exactly it. He did not know what else to say to mend this situation and even if he did manage to, he was sure the omega would not believe any of it. So, instead of doing any of that, he looked down like an idiot..pushing his hands into his pockets as the both of them stood on that cold alley.
It was the anniversary of his turning. The day his parents died, goddamit. And he was sending the wrong message across as if Hollis needed to feel any more shitty. What a great end to the day indeed. As the other moved forward, Reed could not. âDo you promise me youâre goinâ straight home?â He did disagree. There was plenty of stuff to talk about, starting with their relationship, but he would not voice it either..too afraid of what this awkward distance between them could mean now.
He could see that Jaxon wasnât feeling too great about how the conversation but, frankly, neither was Hollis. He was already hurting and Jaxon just had to rub salt in the wounds. His own boyfriend. Fuck, that was miserable to think about. Luckily, however, that meant that conversation was over and Hollis could go home and sulk in peace. That was all he wanted in the first place and look at where he was now. Pushing himself past the alpha, Hollis simply raised his hand before he waved it a bit, beginning to walk back down the street towards Southside, âIâm going home.â He repeated for the umpteenth time keeping his gaze on the ground as he drunkenly made his way down the street, ready to put the shit day to rest already.
End.
A chance encounter @ H&J
He knew that Jaxon was going to attempt to backtrack about what he said. It was only human to do so. Hollis wasnât particularly interested in hearing apologies or anything. What Jaxon had done was plenty enough. He shook his head, âItâs not about what you meant, Jax.â The man said simply, âItâs about what you didnât say. That spoke far louder.â Did he not see that? Sure, maybe he was blowing the whole thing out of proportion because he was drunk, but Hollis couldnât deny that he was hurt about the whole thing. He put his whole being into their relationship and Jaxon couldnât return that. Thatâs all it was.
Feeling the other grab onto him, he rolled his eyes and forced himself to stop, swaying almost immediately, âI told you a couple weeks ago âwhat was going onâ.â He drawled out before his eyes narrowed and his head tilted, âHow what looks?â Hollis asked, âHow being with me looks?â That was the only thing that could possibly connect in his head, âI donât think you know how badly that hurts me, Jax.â Hollis had stuck up for the alpha more times than he could count when people would tell him that he was bad news. He refused to believe because he knew that Jaxon was good. He had seen it time and time again. But right now? He was being unreasonably cruel.
Jaxon looked down with a frown. Hollis was right. He was right. And this was quickly spiraling out of control...more than he might be comfortable with. âIâm tryinâ to balance stuff out here. You know as well as I do that I struggle with this..so excuse me if I hesitated there for a second.â Reed did not care too look back. He knew his wolves had gone inside by now, probably because they had a feeling, just like him, that things were not going to resolve as quickly as theyâd initially thought. âYouâre drunk. Youâre blowing things out of proportion..â
Continuing on that line would have been dangerous but thankfully, his grip on the doctor was strong..and that kept him from taking off before heâd told him the truth. â..a couple weeks ago? Wait-wait-wait...â he swallowed, âThat is today?â Oh, no, it couldnât be. This was some major screw up here. Why the fuck wouldnât he remember something like that? And whatâs more, why would he let him face this on his own? By then, it was fair to say that Jax had lost all color in his face, his hand releasing Hollisâ jacket. â...look, I get how bad this is..and you got every right to be mad but letâs just..talk tomorrow, okay?â
A chance encounter @ H&J
He shrugged shoulders, âSure.â Even if they did love him, that didnât mean that he wanted to burden them with his own gripes of life, at the moment. They wouldnât really understand, anyway. They were both born into the life of being a werewolf. Today marked the twelfth anniversary of when he was turned and when his parents were killed. As much as he wanted to talk to about it, he didnât know who to turn to⌠So, booze it was. It was really just easier that way. His blue eyes shifted back and forth between the men behind them and Jaxon, and his gaze narrowed a bit at Jaxonâs response. The silence before his answer was enough to knock the wind out of Hollis. Jaxon was embarrassed of him? Hollis had been hurt by a lot of things in his life, but that was certainly up there.
Jaxonâs worries about him and wanting him to get home safe really didnât mean much to him at his point in time. Why should they? âI wonât get hurt.â Hollis said simply, pushing himself up from the seat of the bench, âI donât think much more can hurt me right now.â The omega admitted, âIâm sorry forâŚthis.â Hollis motioned at himself, then Jaxon, then area around them, âI didnât mean to embarrass you.â He said simply, his words still slurring as he spoke, but it would be hard to deny the sobering affect Jaxonâs words had on him, âI would really prefer if you justâŚlet me get home by myself.â He informed the other, turning to start his trek home.
Jaxon Reed knew that he'd screwed up the second that âsureâ left the doctorâs lips. It was messed up..how he was back to square one after discussing what they had but the alpha could not seem to help it. Love or duty..which was it now? And why now? Heaving a sigh then, the alpha was almost too distracted to stop what happened next, his whole body shifting backwards to make room for his boyfriend.. who appeared to be standing. âHollis, please..â Well, heâd been quick to speak now, hadnât he? âYou donât have to do this...I donât need -I didnât mean it like that." he tried to say. âItâs...complicated.â
By then, the alpha could not just sit there any longer and stood up right behind the doctor..grabbing the back of his elbow. â..wait. Arenât you even goinâ to tell me what this is really about?â There was the part where he was simply not letting him go on his own like heâd asked but Jaxon wasnât prioritizing this right now. âIâm sorry too, okay? But you need to realize how this looks..â
A chance encounter @ H&J
Hollis just stared over to Jaxon for a moment before he pressed his lips together into a thin line. Maybe now it was out of the norm⌠But Hollis about a year ago? This was a normal occurrence. Alcohol was his biggest vice, there was no doubt about that. Which was he tried not indulge in it too much. A glass of whiskey every other night was usually what he strove now. Not drinking the entire bar, as Jaxon said. His eyes drifted away from the alpha as he spoke about stability and Hollis just chortled quietly. If he was the stable one in the relationship, God help them.
He shrugged, âMeâŚâ The man answered softly. He hated to bug anybody with his problems. It just felt wrong to do. They have better things to worry about or listen to than little olâ him. Hollisâ blue eyes looked Jaxon over as he purposefully turned more inwards towards him, keeping his back out towards the other. Drunk or not, that wasnât a normal thing to do. Hollisâ eyes shifted back Jaxon, spotting the others standing there, before he turned to look back at his lover, âAm I embarrassing you?â He asked randomly then shook his head, running his fingers through his hair again, âI can get home myself. Iâve walked this a ton of times.â He wasnât worried about it. Walking home drunk was a skill he had learned, âDonât worry about it. Go have fun with your friends.â
Jaxon tried to remind himself to breathe there but goddamn, Hollis was so quiet. There must have been a lot in his head and he was just not meant to succeed in figuring it out tonight. Tomorrow, maybe..when the wolf had sobered up properly; gone past the whole..hangover part. âListen..Will loves you very much and as do I.â he shook his head yet again. The wolf had every intention to keep on going but then the omega had to go and ask that one question. Embarassed? He could hear the mumbles and that put him slightly on edge, sure but..that was a major word right there. â...no.â he declared but somehow it didnât sound convincing enough. Had he taken too long to answer? He had, hadnât he? Fuck. This caused Jax to frown..which only got worse when Uriel called out to him. âHey boss? You coming or what?â
Jax rose a hand, motioning for them to wait a minute and immediately let his nerves get the worse of him. âI donât care what you say. Iâm not letting you a cab and Iâm-asking Will to come make sure you donât need anything. Last thing I need is you getting hurt.âÂ
A chance encounter @ H&J
âI donât think itâs the whole barâŚâ He drawled out as his eyes fluttered closed for a moment, trying to steady himself as he stood there. Standing still wasnât great for him at the moment. Thatâs when he felt most unstable so it was probably a good thing that Jaxon was there. Slowly, he dropped his free hand back to his side and he looked around, âOh.â He sounded softly and swallowed, âI do remember that.â He said with a nod. Truthfully, he didnât. But he didnât want to appear more drunk than he was so a simple white lie wouldnât hurt, âIâm fine. Really. This isnât out of the norm.â The slurring words were, that was for sure.
With a groan of protest, he followed Jaxon towards the bench and sat down beside him, sinking almost immediately. His shoulders slumped as his head lolled forward before he lifted it again as his boyfriend spoke, earning a laugh from Hollis, âNo, no, no. Will doesnât care that much.â Will had better things to do, âNothing happened. I justâŚwent to the bar.â He nodded, âIâm fine. Really. You donât have toâŚâ Hollis waved his hand around, signifying something. What? Who knows but it made it sense to him, âIâm fine.â Hollis repeated with a nod.
âYouâre willinâ to bet?â Reed mused more firmly as he tilted his head. He did realize he should not be making his partner feel any worse about this whole situation but there was a reason behind it and he was going to find out what it was. â..Hollis, this is out of the norm in every way possible. You do realize that youâre the more stable one out of the two of us, donât you?â Hollis was perfect in every way that mattered and the one the alpha went to every time he needed someone to ground him but this..this was not what he saw now.
Doing his best to turn his back to the two people he had come here with, Jaxon moved his grip up..to the back of the otherâs neck for support. And just like that..he let him speak, exhaling long and soft until he somehow got to a nod. â..care that much about..what, babe?â he repeated, âYouâre not fine. I should probably get you a ride home or something..â or he could come and sit with them, he thought, but how good of an idea would that be? He was already not handling it great himself.
A chance encounter @ H&J
Hollis liked to believe he could control his liquor and how much he drankâŚbut that was a lie. Especially when he was in a mood of his. Once he started, there was no stopping. Not until he felt good and inebriated, which for him, took a lot nowadays. Hollis sat in that bar for quite a while until eventually the bartender kicked his sorry ass out. Hollis couldnât blame them. He was sucking down all their whiskey and gin like his life depended on it. And really, tonight, it did. He wanted to forget about the past but it was there rearing itâs ugly head at him.
Pushing himself from the barstool, Hollis practically collapsed to the ground but luckily, his cane caught him. Forcing himself to stand up straight again, Hollis pushed his hair back and moseyed on our the door, turning to the right immediately to walk down the street. At one point, he thought he was doing better than he was and he stumbled directly into a dumpster, earning a soft groan from him. No worries though. It was fine. Everything was fine.
He hadnât even been aware someone was approaching until he felt someone touch him. It was extremely familiar to him, which was good, or else he might have a different reaction. Turning his glazed eyes over towards Jaxon after he spoke, he shrugged, âJustâŚout. Drinking. Itâs fine.â He nodded, âWhat are you doing? Itâs good to see you.â Hollis smiled and brought his hand up towards Jaxonâs face to softly hold it.
Jaxon was not usually self-conscious but there was something nagging at him in this moment. Perhaps it had something to do with feeling observed and tested by those who should remain loyal to him but there was a guilt that tied in with it too. Guilt over not being as worried as he should be..or more so than anything else. Right now, all he needed was to figure out what was going on here. âJust..? I can smell the whole bar on you, Hol.â Jaxon took his palm in his hand gently and tightened the grip of his arm around him, âI told you I was going out, remember? What Iâm concerned about is you right now.â
Slowly, the Alpha moved them onto a bench, taking care of his cane before he brushed his blonde mane backwards. âAre you going to tell me what happened? This wasnât Will or anything, was it?â
A chance encounter @ H&J
It had been quite some time since the Alpha had ventured out for a social occasion with members of his pack. He could not put this on anybody but himself, really and so he vowed to make this a regular happening in his agenda. So far, they had been to a couple of joints..nothing too risky or close to any of the other territories, but it would seem they had made it to that humanâs now. Hayden, she was called.
They were right outside, talking, no less..when one of his wolfs seemed to look in a certain direction. Sure..he had heard the noise of someone crashing against a metal bin and figured it must have been some drunk doing what drunks do. Little did he know the surprise he was going to get when he did glance too. Hollis. Fuck, the word almost escaped his lips. The sight itself was a punch in the gut -something he might have had to stare at twice to believe it, but alas..there was no denying it. Someone had to have caused this to happen..or something, because this was not like the omega to do.
Pressing a hand flat over Urielâs chest, Jaxon put on a menacing glare and huffed. âGive me a minute.â It was an order..and so they did.
He then walked over, visibly tense, and put his arm around the doctor to hopefully get his attention. â..hey. What uh-what are you doing here?â he frowned, âYou okay?â

frccdxmâ:
Peyton nodded when he said they took care of it, it was comforting to know that whoever killed her parents got what they deserved. She gave him a small smile, she could tell this was hard for Jax. So she was quiet, clasped her hands together in front of her as she listened to him explain, taking note of the Liu name, although it meant nothing to her. Her frown deepened to hear that this hunter had just done it for no reason. âSoâŚhe just killed them for being werewolves?â she repeated, shaking her head, thinking this was probably the worst answer. âBut heâs dead, right? This Liu guy?â she asked, looking back to Jaxon just to confirm thatâs what he meant by getting him back. âI hate people who just hate a whole species for no reason, thatâs so fucked up,â she sighed.
.
âBasically, yeah. To him, killing some of us equals saving the world..or whatâs left to it, anyway.â He doubted all humans still thought that way..maybe about him, but there were enough Hollis, enough Will and Peytons out there that they might have started to shift their minds. Who the fuck knew. âYep. Chrisâ dead. Iâm not so sure about his offspring but..the matterâs been closed for a very long time.â Perhaps, he thought, he might be the only one to know about Hayden. Best to keep it quiet anyway. âOh, everyoneâs got a reason, Peyton. Believe me.â Jaxon half chuckled, â..or at least convince themselves they do.â
xdigginmygraveâ:
Hollis wasnât much for rushing. He could sit there all day and wait for Jaxon to talk about what he wanted. Patience was a virtue had been gifted and, in his opinion, it was one of his best qualities. His hand stayed within the alphaâs as he began to speak, focusing his full attention on the man beside him, âI doâŚâ He said softly, wondering if things werenât as under control as Jaxon said they were. That would be a very him thing to doâŚ
However, he assured him that they were and Hollis could take his word for it. His brow furrowed a bit as the other mentioned the Syndico business, but he didnât speak. He just listened. Hollisâ lips pressed into a thin at the mention of the time he and Mike slept together and how, apparently, that wasnât going to roll over well with Mikeâs significant other. His head nodded in understanding and he released a soft breath, âI donât think Iâll ever have the chance to relax around Mike, to be frank.â Hollis mentioned softly. The guy just hated him out of principal and considering the last time they interacted in person, Hollis knocked him out cold, he doubted that changed his opinion much.
âDo you think itâs going to happen?â Hollis asked, his head tilting a bit, âIs that why youâre telling me?â
.
The alpha did not miss the way Hollis appeared to take the news..but did not make much of a fuss about it, not deeming it appropriate to dwell on the small details. Itâd been before the both of them were together. That didnât make things any better. â..I admire your resolve. I truly do.â he mumbled instead, now finding himself in the position where he might just nod at the whole situation. âMikeâs a wild card. I donât think he can help it, now or ever..and shitâs often more about his ego than anythinâ else.â Or at least thatâs what it felt to him, along with a fleeting desire to be loved or something. âDo I think itâs going to happen? No. I donât think anything will come of it. But you deserve to hear it from me if it ever did. I donât exactly understand what they have with the vampire.â
hxlfcrxzyâ:
Mike couldnât help but smirk, knowing Jaxon well enough now that the small tones in his voice gave away more of his thought processes than he would usually care to let on. âNot happy with her getting so close to the mutt, are ya?â Not that it was any of Mikeâs business; it wasnât his pack, Aiden was his own man to do as he pleased, and honestly if the two wolves became an item, at least it left a gap at Obiâs side that Mike was hopeful to fill again. He quickly switched back to the topic of Bram with a nod, âwe canât remember who it was that tried to kill the other first, but after a couple of attempts at that, we both sat down after for a drinkâŚfound out we got more shit in common than we realised.â Theyâd been there for each other ever since. Bram had crashed with Mike after the humanâs turn, Bram had cared for Mike the first night heâd come home after breaking from Lilianaâs cage, patching him up the best he could. Even now, with the Mackie out in the woods somewhere, Mike knew if he called upon him, or the other he, theyâd be there.
The Delta shook his head. âDonât patronise us,â his tone already defeated, âwe met this demon once at the theatre, the night the human hideout exploded, then we bumped into him again at the Equinox festival and-â he didnât need to say much else, â-shit happens with us in alleyways. And it wasnât a fight.â Honestly, Mike couldnât get Drac out of his head sometimes, and he figured it was an imprint left by the demons lustful effects, but couldnât be sure. Obi would be happy when the demon was dead, but honestly, so would Mike. Jax leant forwards, hands brushing gently across Mikeâs, but The Mad Wolf pulled away, paranoid that even physical touch could give them away. âYou wouldnât have a choice mate. Whatever way you look at it, weâre dead. He kills us if we refuse. You kill us if we canât be stopped.â He chuckled, but there was a weirdly anxious twang to his laugh, eyes glistening just a little with forming tears, âwe could barely put a dent in Hollis and the guy can barely fucking walkâŚso what hope would we have against all of you, by ourselves?â
Even a simple question felt difficult to answer, and Mike swallowed but his throat was dry despite the amounts of beer heâd been drinking. Amber eyes looked up at Jax finally, giving the Alpha his full attention. âNo mindfuck. No games. No compulsion. WeâŚhad a talk. An actual talk. He uhâŚdropped the word loveâŚand heâs neverâŚnever done that. So he caresâŚbecause the person heâs given himself to has betrayed his trust once, unwillinglyâŚand doesnât need to know about the second time, that was willingly.â Now he did reach forward, grabbing the others hands and squeezing them tightly. âJaxon, we donât ask you for much, but weâre asking you this, please, you cannot tell anyone what happened with us at the cabin.â
.
âYou can tell.â Jaxon stated matter-of-factly, making it pretty clear that he was aware Mike could read his thoughts right now. In truth, he did not know what it was about Aiden he did not approve of -when it came to Peyton of course, he would not have cared about the wolf otherwise- but this was his kid..and whoever took her on was meant to be right for her. Turning his attention to the whole Bram situation, Reed listened with arched brows..lips slightly curling upward at the corners. â..you think heâs changed his convictions once he got turned? It canât have been easy, Iâll give him that. It looked awful on Nick.â Yes, the one wolf he had turned..though perhaps his memory failed him and there was actually more out there. âIâm curious, what sort of âshitâ you two got in common?â
Next thing you know he was paying attention to the deltaâs little adventure with Satan. He definitely did not change his view on it, nor the way he looked at him like he was questioning his judgement. Demons were a no-go. Psychopaths, really..incapable of having or faking empathy. âEitherway, crap choice, mate.â A huff and a shake of his head, followed by stillness as Mike pulled away from his touch. Crap choice on his own part. He was supposed to be fucking mad, right? âYou know thereâs a third option there, right? âcause youâre not wrong, I will fucking kill you if you try shit against any of my people, but...â Was it wise, to bring killing Obi? Because fuck it, he would do that too. Off the record, of course, he wouldnât want it to splash his pack. Noting the shine in the otherâs eyes, Jax looked to the side himself, gritting his teeth. âNevermind.â
He did not look back even when the word âwillinglyâ was uttered, but that squeeze made things really difficult..thumb momentarily gracing Mikeâs hand. âYouâre pathetic when you beg like this, you know that?â he muttered, finally glancing. âItâs not in my interest to anyway..but I need to tell the others what might happen. You know, in the event that you might succeed, they need to be ready and shit.â
xdigginmygraveâ:
Hollis wasnât a fool. It was easy for him to tell when there was something on Jaxonsâ mind, however, from his time with the man, he realized that he wasnât much for talking about those things. And that was fine. It could take a lot for Hollis to talk about things as well. However, if it was something important, he would tell the other, no matter how hard or difficult it was. His head tilted at the manâs statement and he nodded his head, âOkay.â He said simply, releasing a breath as he ran his fingers through his hair.
Pulling himself from the others lap, Hollis plopped down on the bed beside him and grabbed the sheet, pulling it up. He then reached down and grabbed the blanket as well and repeated the process before he reached out, grabbing Jaxonâs hand, âWhatâs going on?â He asked.
.
Hollis was concerned. Jaxon could always tell..even when he could only listen to his voice.. but the man was, well..patient, if anything and so he knew this conversation was going to happen with zero interruption. â..right. Remember that thing I said I had under control?â the alpha said as he arched a brow, fingers gently toying with the otherâs grip. âNothingâs changed. But.. William made me see that it may be a bad idea to keep you out of this one, no matter how..Syndico related it might be.â There was a part of Jaxon that still doubted around this, that still thought it may be worrying the other over nothing..or worse, that it might raise an issue, but he went on. âItâs about Mike. You should..still watch your back over him. Apparently..he hasnât told his boyfriend about us sleeping together at some point and..if Obi finds out, he is going to send him off to kill those in my circle..â
Jaxon placed his coffee cup on top of the table and bend forward, still thinking..still very much hesitant. It was not an easy subject and he did want to be as honest as possible while keeping things ..what was the word? Ah, nevermind. âThereâs no revenge to be had anyway. We..took care of it. But it is good to hear you say that, P.â the alpha nodded as he reached to gently squeeze her knee. Then, he leaned back again and exhaled. â..you know that it was a hunter- Christopher Liu. That was his name. Things were a lot different then. Humans..they were bolder back then...a lot less cowardly. From what I gathered, Liu just took it upon his own hands to kill as many of us as possible. Thatâs all. There were no other motives. I believe he just saw the chance and did it.â Reedâs eyes softened as he looked at the gamma. âIt wasnât fair..but our pack got him back, Peyt.â
