It's funny cuz, at first, I kind of?? hated? J and *now* I'm saving to (maybe) buy all her pendantz 😭😭 which is insane to me, I love the silly little corporate loser<3
When I first watched md I couldn't understand why she would be so mean to N (one of the reasons I started the show, kinda), she seemed cold and cruel for no reason at all, it was very hard for me to root for her (I know she's written as an antagonist in the narrative but shh, you get what I mean). And then I saw a lot of beautiful fanart lol (cofcofseraphontcofcof), it just- everything just clicked for me. She isn't heartless, she's just scared, and has a very peculiar way to cope and interact with the world around her.
I certainly saw J's dedication to the company as a symptom of her loyalty (read as: love) for Tessa, currently I see it quite differently but hey it was a fun interpretation.
I'm real happy the new special showed J in the way we as fans had been reading her character for a long time in a more explicit manner, as a confirmation, and more people will be able to understand her situation ;w; how all *three* of them were victims for the longest time, and being on the very front didn't make it better
Oh, and the idea of the (mostly) serious, professional and results-driven drone becomes a MESS for the pretty, silly, compassionate, free-spirited human it's soooooooooo everything. Moe gap, I'm an absolute sucker for the moe gap. Tessa being so special to her, only *she* can see her as a mess (after coming through her insecurities), only she can see her slack off and be a bit of a mess and love the same, if not more 😭💚💛
Both J and Tessa needed someone who would accept them despite their quirks and flaws, unconditional and judgment-free love I would say, someone who would stay at your side high and low, to know you'll have that comfort at the end of the day from that person who does her best despite her unfortunate circumstances; they try, they love and they care. (I need more Tessa content though 💔 I may be a bit slow when learning to read characters but ughhh I do know we needed more, to me they'll always be the most girlfriends ever tho<3).
They complement each other so well toooo, one appreciates order while the other wants freedom. Cancel each other out. J worried about her status as a drone and what it may mean to society (and for Tessa), while she doesn't care!!! To her, drones had been more human than any actual human she ever met, made her the love and acceptance she always deserved. And Tessa, she may feel insecure for the idea her parents instilled that she is 'a freak', but J can't help but love every aspect of her saviour, as weird as it may be; after all, isn't that same kindness what saved her in the first place? And keeps on brightening her days afterwards? They click, they have the chemistry ❗❗❗❗ and I aspire to be able to at least show a fraction of that in my work
