Happy Birthday to my now 10 year old son Jailen! Time has flown! I’m getting old. Lol. But, it’s amazing how this kid loves me. Flaws and all. I have a history of burning bridges, sabotaging relationships and making reckless decisions. So a part of me feels like I don’t deserve to be loved the way my son loves me. It’s a wonderful feeling. I love our bond. From our wrestling matches down to our handshake we do everyday before I leave for work. I’ve learned so much these past 10 years and look forward to learning so much more. Sometimes I feel like I don’t know what the hell I’m doing. But, my son is always there to reassure me that I’m doing a decent job. Lol. I got his back for life. I was living in Brooklyn Center, MN. Playing outside with my friends. I just turned 11 years old on September 11th. One of the kids who lived in the complex came outside in tears and told us the news that Pac had died. None of us wanted to believe him, but the look on his face told us he wasn’t lying. So we all just stood there for a few seconds in total silence, but that was shortly broken by the sound of us sniffling, which led to us wiping tears from our faces because we couldn’t believe our favorite rapper was no longer living. When he was shot just some days before, I knew he’d pull through and continue to make fire ass music for us to quote and ride to. But, that wasn’t the case this time. Not too long after Pac’s death rumors started swirling about him faking his death and that he would return some 7+ years later. I wanted that to be true so bad for so long. Today marks 22 years since his death and it still sucks for me that we lost such a great talent so young. RIP Pac and thank you for sharing your talent, knowledge and energy with us.
