"Well, just gonna say this once. If anyone wishes me a happy birthday just don't. It's cancelled this year."
Am I ever going to get rid of you, Maggie?

Sigh was the only response that Zachary gave his son when he finally got an answer to his question. If Adam didn’t wish to say goodbye to his mother then he wasn’t going to start an argument about it. Besides, Adam wouldn’t be the one to hear about it while he was gone. He wouldn’t put it past Lorina to complain to him about their son leaving without saying goodbye to her.
His blue eyes look at the keys for a moment before taking them and putting them in his pocket. “I’ll do my best to keep him out but I can’t promise much.” After all he was working himself and as far as he knew Cameron was home more often than he was. He was actually curious to know as to why his youngest son stayed within Adam’s house. “Why does he go in there anyways?” Zachary asked as he walked down the rest of the stairs and over to the car.
Adam sulked slightly as he looked towards his father and shrugged, he could accept that. “You know you’re going to hear it from Mum too if you don’t retire soon.” He knew that his mother wanted Zachary to be home, especially with how young Fiona was. The rest of them didn’t get him around all the time and it affected them all in some way. Margaret wanted to do exactly what Zachary was doing, idolising him – Junior was a tearaway.
“Haven’t a clue,” Adam replied as he thought about the possible reasons that Cameron would sneak into his home. “I don’t think it’s him going in there to do drugs or anything,” Cameron was too good a boy to do that. “He knows better than to smoke in there,” He shrugged clutching at straws. “Maybe he has a secret girlfriend.” Their mother would go nuts after all. Cameron was the youngest son, her baby. He followed his father towards the car as he glanced over at the main house wondering if his mother would see them through the curtain and come to say goodbye. He wanted to tell himself he didn’t want to say goodbye, but he would miss his mother more than he wanted to allow himself to believe.
and that was my sister.

A frown appeared on the telepath’s face as Adam didn’t reply to him right away. For a moment he thought that maybe his son hadn’t heard him but then he finally heard Adam’s reply. Nodding his head, even if Adam couldn’t see him do it, Zachary smoked on his cigarette a little before finally snuffing it out in the ashtray. If he went inside with it then he was sure Lorina would scold him for smoking in the house. With both him, Cameron, and Junior smoking every so often she didn’t seem to like the lingering smell of it whenever they did it inside.
When Adam finally came out of the house, he stood up from his seat on the steps and stretched his arms a little. He was getting old, much to his dismay, and it was starting to take it’s toll on his body. Looking Adam up and down in one glance he could see the nervous in his son. He wasn’t sure if he should address it then or a little later though. Thinking it best to do it later he took one of Adam’s bags to help him put them in the car. “Did you say goodbye to your mother?” Zachary asked in the hopes that getting Adam to talk a little would help him.
He sighed as he turned around and began to lock the door to the main house. When Zachary questioned him, Adam went silent again. Now he may have not said goodbye to Lorina, but he wasn’t sure how that would go. He knew how much his mother loved him and how hard it would be on her to say goodbye. He looked over his shoulder towards his aging father and shrugged his shoulders before shaking his head.
“I know I should.” But he had seen the way that her eyes watered just at the mention of him going off on this mission alone. Adam sighed and turned around before reaching his hand out with the key. He knew that if he took it with him it would end up just hanging in his locker at the agency. “Make sure that Cam doesn’t try and stay in there, won’t you?” He knew that Cameron did enjoy sneaking in for some reason or another. He had no idea that it was for spending quality time with Tyra away from his mother’s eye though.

Zachary let out a stream of smoke from his mouth as he continued to smoke his cigarette on the front steps. He had promised Lorina that he would be the one to see Adam off on his mission that day and he never broke a promise to his wife. Right then he was just waiting for his eldest son to come out of the house so they could get going.
It was hard for him to believe that Adam was already going off on his own. It was similar to him trying to get used to the idea that both Maggie and Adam would be taking up his own job. He didn’t like the idea of any of his children getting hurt but he had to quickly get used to the idea of that happening after the two of them got hired. Fortunately they didn’t get many injuries on the job and most of the time he was close at hand to help. Now he knew that wouldn’t be the case and he didn’t exactly like it. But Zachary wasn’t about to stop his son from going off.
Turning a little and banging on the door he yelled, “Come on Adam, we need to get going.”
He heard the yell of his father, but it didn’t do much to faze Adam from staring into his bedroom. He was sort of glad that none of his siblings were home (at least from what he knew) so he didn’t have to worry about any heartfelt goodbyes apart from most likely with his mother downstairs and then his father when they got to the agency.
“I heard you,” Adam coughed, as he realised there had been a long silence between when Zachary had shouted and he had replied. The blond picked up the second bag and slung it over his shoulder before turning, opening the door and leaving the bedroom for what could be months. He had done so much when he was preparing himself for this moment, he just didn’t realise he would be so nervous and that there would be butterflies fluttering around in his stomach.
His blue eyes roamed over to his father as he gave a curt nod of his head, trying to hide his slight worries and nerves. Everyone said he was the golden boy, the favourite, the perfect son… but it was plain from the small frown on his face that Adam Tylar was in fact nervous.

The blond stood in his bedroom and looked around the organised and uncluttered space with a sign of loss in his face. Yes, he knew that he would be leaving for what could be months; he had seen it day after day when he was younger. His father would go off for missions and would scare his mother to death, but he would man up and be there for her. Only now at the age of twenty six it was his turn. He had been employed by the World Maintenance Force since he was eighteen and now he was going to be going to do his first mission on his own.
He had gone off on little ones here and there with other people, but this was the biggie, this was the one where it was him and his technical support. Well, he was intending on ditching any contact needed with his best friend Daniel. Adam was sure that he wouldn’t need his best friend’s advice. For some reason Adam could research something and he’d still remember it months later, he was good. He didn’t need the support. Releasing a sigh he picked up one of the bags he had packed from the floor and thanked god for the fact his youngest sister, seven year old Fiona, was at school and didn’t have to deal with him leaving.
