With Robert at war and Stannis doing his best to make them survive through the siege without yielding and weakening his brother’s position in war, the boy is all innocence and curiosity, despite she knows he’s aware something in wrong as well. The war has just begun and only the gods know how long it’ll last and if her family was going to survive it — she could only pray they would, but fear kept her awake at night.    « My brave wizard. »    She bent forward to adjust the boy’s cape, before cupping his cheek.    « Of course you are powerful — but these outside are nasty men, horrible men — leave Stannis and Robert to deal with them. »

It wasn’t that he couldn’t see that his mother and brother were sad, even if she was always more keen to play with him and Stannis was too focused on looking serious to cry. What he couldn’t understand was how neither of them were not convinced that Robert would come any day now and he would slay the Tyrells with his sword, all of them at once. And he would bring them honeycakes and he would take Renly on his shoulders and they’d run around all day. Robert would come any time now, so why worry, why spend their days being sad? This was even better than a thunderstorm, there was no real danger here. ❝But Stannis doesn’t do anything, he is just here. And I want Robert to be proud and take me to the next war with him, so I have to show him that I am strong. So I will go out there and make these Tyrells disappear and make fa...famine disappear too, cause one guard said that this is what is more dangerous, so I am going to kill it too.❞ Tyrells would be the bandits and famine would be the dragon, since he wasn’t sure if that person was male or a female and thus couldn’t be an evil witch or sorcerer. ❝Will you be proud too, mother if I defeat them all?❞

Still, it was funny to think how Robert would agree with him and it would be a lie to say that he didn’t miss how he always boasted about his war, as if it had been the only thing that ever gave him life.

He laughed, throwing his head slightly back as he did so.  ❝That would be nightmare for both of us, would it not?❞ he leaned closer to her, a smirk on his lips  ❝Although, I assure you, our children...the future King or Queen of Westeros, they would be gifted by both beauty and wit.❞ If he actually believed in Gods, he would pray that these children would form into existence sooner rather than later —there was no crown in this world that would make him want to sleep with her, after all.
