AUR has been hit with malware
Per the CachyOS subreddit:
"As the title states, the Arch AUR has been hit by a huge malware infection campaign over the last couple of days. There's an earlier post referring to alvr. That's not the only package it's hundreds of them, many of them Aur packages average people would install like apple-music-desktop.
I don't have the full details of the scope of the malware campaign. I know it's a credential stealer so it steals ssh keys and browser login info and apparently has rootkit potential.
This was widespread and targeted orphaned packages. Aur for some reason allows other people to take over existing projects.
The bottom line is if you used the aur over the last couple of days you may have been infected and the problem with taking over orphaned packages I believe remains. I personally would not use the Aur for the foreseeable future, and ideally not at all. It's a security risk."
There is a script that you can run on your machine to detect if you have a package that is known to have been infected which you can view here. I have also linked the subreddit post here.
Just download it, make it executable and run the script with sudo and let it run, it will tell you what it found once it's complete.
Pls reblog to signal boost!!
Plaid never goes out of style! That timeless and beloved woven fabric technique was the inspiration for these socks, and this pattern is a
I made some modifications:
Princess sole - the smooth side goes against my skin because shudders textures
Custom toe shape. I've never met someone whose toes are a triangle with their middle toes at point. I don't understand why every sock wants that, I decided to try a thing and it worked perfectly.
I'm going to temporarily slow down on forcefemming linux users to instead forcelinux trans people. My girlfriend still uses windows. When I come over to her place I'm going to show up with an installation media and use my feminine charm to make her install linux
when tf did this get a thousand notes
I wanted to add a caption but then I looked at her cute tummy and awawawawawaawawa
this somehow breached containment and as you'd expect from the Reddit crowd the comments are filled with learned incompetence and reactionary takes
linux isn't harder you were just taught to use windows (windows is actually way more complicated once you know both. source I do)
linux has graphical applications for settings and installing stuff and whatever, you don't need to input commands if you don't want to
inputting commands isn't "coding" you just copy and paste 4 words that mean "run as administrator and install [program]"
and if you really do use a program that doesn't have a linux version or wine looks too complicated, that's okay!! just instead of going "NEVER!!" and playing into the Microsoft propaganda, considering saying:
I wish more developers would make their programs compatible with linux
Linux looks really cool, I'm just stuck because of [program] at the moment
fuck you Nvidia for making this harder than it needs to be
Woah that girl is really pretty
I wish that was me 😵💫

i really cannot emphasize enough to all of you: i know 2fa is annoying. EVERY tech person knows 2fa is annoying, because we use it constantly. 2fa is one of the most robust and effective security tools a website can offer you.
that confirmation code is the thing that will save you in the event that anything happens to your account. password leaked? yeah doesn't matter. because without your phone or a device already signed into that account, they can't do anything with it.
most scams have to maneuver around 2fa. every scam related to identity fraud/account hijacking is explicitly built around circumventing 2fa, because it so simply and effectively secures your accounts
THISSSSSSS!!!!!!! curate your own internet experience. block them because they’re allergic to peanut butter, block them because they have what you don’t, block them because they dislike your favorite food, block them because you don’t like their layout, block them because you can.
blocking is NOT a personal attack against someone. it’s you curating your own internet experience and catering for your comfort, and you have every right to do that.
you, yes, you!!! you CANNOT tell other people to censor themselves for your own comfort and personal likings. you CANNOT tell them what they can or can’t post. you CANNOT tell them what they can or can’t write. you CANNOT tell them what they can or can’t draw. BUT you CAN block them for whatever reason.
that block button is offered to you for free. use. it.

God I hate how normalized not being in control of your own devices has become. My phone updates in the middle of the night without asking me shit or getting my consent for anything and its like "Oh hi I'm your new AI, please enjoy this forced overlay that you can't exit out of until you go through my tutorial"
"Great fuck you, I would like to uninstall you" "Oh I'm sorry you can't uninstall me! I'm a core system application and if you uninstall me your phone won't function correctly despite the fact that I did not exist yesterday and your phone worked fine" "....." "You can disable parts of my functionality but I will always be here and I will pop up notifications asking you to re-enable me unless you figure out how to disable those too! Then I will still show up in a different color at the top of your settings application telling you that you need to 'fix" a 'problem' with your phone, that problem being that I am disabled. Does that help?"
Like, you know what I can do on my desktop? "sudo pacman -Rdd linux" , this will just fucking remove the entire linux kernel. Fundamentally breaking my computer until I boot up a live disk and chroot in and reinstall it or whatever, and the computer will go "Are you sure (y/n)" or whatever and i'm like "y" and it will just go "Ok you got it boss"
But its mine, I get to do what I want with it. I control the computer, the computer does not control me. I refuse to cede control to my phone or anything else. The thing is a lot of people will joke that like "Oh I love just letting the machine tell me what to do, I don't know what I'm doing, it knows best" or whatever but the thing you have to realize is that when you say that you are abstracting away that "the phone" or whatever is not some value neutral logic driven robot like from sci-fi, it is a collection of the the capitalistic and fascistic desires of the tech oligarch fuckwits that are burning the world to the ground right now. You aren't submitting to the phone, you are submitting to Musk, Bezos, Nadella, Pichai, Cook and all those other evil bastards.
Fuck them, fuck their little AI toys, and fuck this.
I am so sick of people justifying this by saying “but if you have access to XYZ basic tool then you can break your computer!.” Fuck that. It should be my goddamn right to break my computer. IT’S MY COMPUTER
Watermelon is just pink flavored cucumber
Cantaloupe is melon flavored cucumber
Cucumber is cucumber flavored water
I will be taking no questions, because I assume there are none about such uncontroversial facts
the hell. (a) that's ridiculous and totally not just the same patterns of oppression we all know but shoddily disguised as woke (b) where even is your argument.
for the last time you can't just. say things. without backing them up. at least just make them relevant ok?
i can def guess what was supposed to go Without Saying here but that technique is the opposite of logical.
update: we've reached ~80 notes!!! not a lot but i was NOT expecting this. keep it up folks
update 2: ~300???? yeah i really underestimated the growth here. this is easily my biggest original post by far now lol.
A lot of folks really struggle with the concept that "This Thing is bad for me" does not mean "This Thing is bad for everyone."
OOP correctly identified that masculinity, positive or otherwise, was harmful to her. Because any amount of masculinity was still too much. For her. But then incorrectly extrapolates from her experience that masculinity is just bad.
And this is gonna feel like a weird jump, but bear with me here, you see the same kind of logic with folks who recently learned about gluten free (or any dietary restriction) and tried it, and it turned out that they were actually intolerant to gluten. So their quality of life got way better when they cut it out. But then they misinterpret that experience. Instead of realizing "I am intolerant to gluten" they incorrectly conclude "Gluten is just bad" and subsequently become the most annoying person you've ever met.
The phenomenon is the same.
It's an easy mistake to make when you realize so many of your biggest problems were caused by this one thing. It's really easy to believe that it just must be bad. But you have to learn how to take a step back and ask yourself if what you're experiencing is really universal or if it's actually very specific to your circumstances.
