Spotlight: GOT7′s Jackson involved with car accident.

Issue: For those of you who do not know, recently GOT7′s Jackson was involved in a car accident due to a fan following his car. As a result, Jackson got injured. 

Sasaeng fans tailgating K-pop idols cars is something that has happened many times before. Many K-pop idols like EXO’s Chanyeol had voiced out about how dangerous it is to do that and gives fans a warning to stop for the safety of others. However, people still do it despite the warnings. This time, an accident actually occurred and the sasaeng’s beloved K-pop idol got injured because of it. Fortunately, it’s been said that Jackson’s injuries aren’t serious. However, you can see in these photos below that he was in pain.

To make things even more heartbreaking, sources say that Jackson got out of the car while injured and asked the people who hit his car if they were hurt or not. He was sleeping at the time when it happened, tired from his busy schedules and soon to prepare for GOT7′s comeback. What did he do to deserve all this? This doesn’t only apply to Jackson, but to all K-pop idols/celebrities. I understand that you would want to see your idol as much as you can since they don’t come often, but safety and well being comes first. You may think that “Oh, it’s okay. I don’t tailgate them so I’m not a sasaeng fan who stalks them.” However, there are many other ways in different degrees where you could be acting like one. If you think that these things only happen in China or Korea, I’m afraid that you’re wrong. For example, there were clips of fans running on the street swarming around a K-pop idol’s van as it was stuck in traffic at LAX airport. I was both shocked at how they would be willing to risk their lives and embarrassed for them. Imagine how it would be in their perspective. They probably felt like caged animals in the zoo or fishes in the aquarium, feeling small as many eyes stare at their every moment and bang on the class. There are certain boundaries that need to be kept. So please think first before you take action. It can risk the safety of others, the safety of your bias, and your safety. It is not worth it.

This applies to all fandoms, and I really hope that fans will stop asking for other members.

Please appreciate the fact that they actually take the time and effort to do live broadcasts for their fans, when they could doing something else. Yes, we have our own biases, but if you love a group, learn to love and appreciate the other members too?

Spotlight UG: VROMANCE

I know that they just recently debuted this year, but VROMANCE deserves a lot more attention than they are getting now!! Known as MAMAMOO’s brother group, they don’t disappoint when it comes to vocals. Their harmonies with one another are always on point and it’s just wonderful! If you haven’t already, check out their debut song “SHE” which also contains very cute lyrics about a guy falling for his best girl friend as well as a groovy tune! Also, DO YOUR EARS A FAVOR AND LISTEN TO THEIR FULL ALBUM. Every song made my heart race and made my ears feel so thankful to be able to listen to it. I am so in love with their voices. Overall, if you stan talent then stan VROMANCE.

[K-pop (K-hiphop) recommendation]: Luizy, Flowsik’s RECIPE

After SMTM5, they did a collab together and it is AMAZING. The song which was produced by UNIQ’s Seungyeon (Luizy) and his friends has a sick beat as well an epic instrumental. The instrumental and beat are strangely addicting, giving a horror game/movie vibe which I absolutely love! The rapping as well, was on point.

Spotlight UG: ToppDogg

Since there are many underrated kpop groups, I’m going to start putting the spotlight on some of them!! First up is the boy group ToppDogg, a kpop/k-hiphop group that debuted in 2013. Though they have great songs and are very talented, other great groups that debuted around the same time kept them out of the spotlight. Many of their fans are now trying hard to bring them back into the spotlight with the hashtag #stantoppdogg2k16. There’s a member that almost debuted with Vixx and also a member that could have been on Team A for YG’s survival show! If you wanna know more about the group check out the blog @stan-topp-dogg​ which is dedicated to introduce ToppDogg to new/potential fans!

[Kpop recommendation]: BTOB’s Minhyuk’s cover of Geeks’ Wash Away 

For those of you who don’t know, BTOB’s Minhyuk is multi-talented as he can sing, rap, and is one of the top athletic kpop idols. Not only is his voice very soothing to listen to, but his rapping is really great in this cover. With emotion, his deep voice, and the power he puts into the rapping, it’s just great. Not to mention that the instrumental is amazing with the drums and electric guitar playing in the background.

Everyone, please take the time to think before you commit to acting a certain way. Please remember that BigHit said that our behavior makes the image of BTS.

Going on Seho’s instagram page and posting burger emojis and bullying him is NOT going to benefit Jungkook in any way. He has to spend one more day with them and imagine the situation you’re putting him in? His cast mate is getting cyber bullied by his own fans?

Yes, I understand your anger. I was annoyed myself during the live broadcast. But if you really cared about Kookie, you wouldn’t want to make the situation worse just because of your anger. Jungkook probably wouldn’t want that to happen.

Let us be mature. Jo Seho will learn from mistakes and it looks like he already did. He was repeatedly warned not to talk too much during the second broadcast and I hope he is reflecting. 

On the other hand, let’s separate Jungkook and BTS from this situation and look at it from a new perspective. You do realize you’re taking part in cyber bullying? Cursing out Seho and calling him a fat pig is really unnecessary. How many celebrities have been extremely hurt and affected by cyber bullying? Seho may have annoyed fans, but NO ONE deserves this kind of hate unless they did something outright horrible.

1. Think about how Jungkook must feel.

2. Remember that revenge is not always the best policy.

[Kpop recommendation]: Grandmother Bird- Kim Youngok & MONSTA X’s Jooheon ft. MONSTA X’s Kihyun (Click CC to see the lyrics)

Not only was this performance beautifully performed, but the lyrics to the song were very touching and meaningful. The lyrics were written by Grandmother Kim Youngok herself and the rap parts were written by MONSTA X’s Jooheon which he dedicated to his late grandma...As someone who lost my grandma to cancer a few years ago, the lyrics and the emotion poured into the song brought tears into my eyes (and it moved the audience as well). It’s a great song dedicated to all the grandmothers out there, so please give it a listen <3

Spotlight: BTS Trolls/Haters?

“Scandal”: For those of you who don’t know, recently two girls on Twitter have been spreading false rumors about Jungkook dating someone and encouraging ARMYs to self-harm because of it.”

Spreading false rumors about an idol is something that isn’t new in the kpop world. We all have trolls and attention seekers who like to make up stuff with “evidence” that they come up with. Most fans are able to catch on quickly and just ignore these false claims, but many innocent fans have been tricked. You might think that this isn’t so bad, but the person who started these rumors had a friend join into the situation. This friend of theirs encouraged fans to cut themselves to show Jungkook that they disapprove of his (nonexistent) relationship and tried to trend the hashtag, #CutforKookie. What kind of sick person promotes this sort of thing?? I looked up the post myself to see if anyone actually believed all this and believe it or not, there were!! Many fans actually used the hashtag and did self-harm because of this which is so tragic...

Luckily, BigHit Entertainment found out about this and sent emails to these two people about how they should stop and delete the posts they made before they take legal action. Here’s the reaction of one of those people to the email.

A “joke”? Really?? People actually believed her and did self-harm!! YOU CALL THAT A JOKE? PROMOTING SELF-HARM??? I have friends who have bipolar depression and have self-harmed themselves before...It’s a serious thing, and it’s certainly nothing to be joking about. It’s so ironic that her username includes “Yixing” who is one of the kindest kpop idols I know. Such a disgrace...I usually try to be unbiased and understanding for both sides of the situation, but this...This I cannot understand no matter how hard I try. 

There’s no stopping these trolls. We can report them and bad-mouth/fight them all we want, but they will just make a new account or actually enjoy getting all the attention. So what we fans can do, is to fight bad with good. Sometime last year, BTS member J-hope was being cyber bullied by antis. In response, ARMYs worked hard together to trend “J-HOPEISPERFECT” worldwide. In the end, love overcame the hatred and won. Don’t waste your lives filled with lies and hatred, and live life with full of love. You only live once, so don’t live a life full of negativity.

Kpop Confession: I didn't really acknowledge BTOB's Peniel as a rapper until I heard his mixtape.
