Max Adler on kissing another boy.
Interviewer: What’s it really like locking lips with another guy?
Max Adler: Same as kissing a girl, I mean lips are lips you know what I mean. It wasn’t the least bit uncomfortable, there was no discussion about it.
Interviewer: Not awkward at all?
Max Adler: It wasn’t, it really wasn’t. I mean, no.
Interview with ET Canada (source)
No read more because these are my babies we’re talking about.
when or if I started shipping it. - When the kiss happened, I was too busy being shocked at what had happened to think of shipping Kurtofsky. Then I went on some forums and saw people shipping it and was intrigued by the idea. Over two months I watched all the Kurtofsky fanvids on YouTube (sigh most of my favs were taken down from that period shoots self), read fic, went on different sites for Kurtofsky, everything. Yet I still denied I liked the ship if anyone asks. Then I read the KIMS and the rest is history. Kurtofsky has never left my mind since.
my thoughts: Okay so you know I have a lot of thoughts about my babies. So here goes.
Kurt and Dave have a really strong bond and connection that no one can touch or break. They’ve been through the ringer together. Dave bullying Kurt, Dave trying to kill himself, the whole lot. Their road to friendship and trust hasn’t been easy, both of them know that, but it’s what has made them stronger in the end. They love each other for who the other truly is; love in its purest form. Kurt loves Dave in a different way than Dave loves Kurt, but I truly believe that given time and a deeper understanding, Kurt will most certainly fall in love with David.
When you look at their recent scenes together, you can just see the way that Dave looks at Kurt and how happy Kurt makes him. This boy, who he bullied for months and pretended to hate to cover the feelings he felt at that time from himself and others has become the only true friend in David’s life.
Their past has made them stronger individually as well as a pairing. Without the things they’ve experienced together, that connection and bond would, quite honestly, not be there.
They have become one of my favorite pairings of all time. I truly believe their story is one of the best love stories I’ve ever seen. And yes, love comes in many different forms, and I believe that my babies’ love for each other can count as a love story.
Not to mention the fact they’re one of the most developed pairings I’ve ever seen.
I just love my babies so fucking much you guys.
What makes me happy about them: Oh god. That they love each other and that Kurt accepts David for everything he is. That Dave loves Kurt and looks at him with such love in his eyes as if he’s the only one who matters in the world. That Kurt has become his anchor, his friend, his confidant, his mentor, his guardian angel, the boy he loves in so many different ways. That when everyone else shut David out, Kurt was there for him, holding his hand, helping him to imagine his life together and making it theirs, showing him that things get better.
That in the moment in which Dave speaks up to Kurt about how happy he was at that moment, not just in the fantasy, but in that moment with Kurt by his side, looking at him with tears in both of their eyes, something passed between them. I truly believe they’re soul mates and made for each other and it makes me so happy.
What makes me sad about them: That they don’t have more scenes in the show. If I ran this bitch, the main couple would be my babies, not Finchel. Just saying.
things done in fanfic that annoys me: lol don’t get me started. When Kurt says “oh my gaga” or when my babies aren’t in character it just…like I said, don’t get me started.
things I look for in fanfic: Characterization is really important to me. Just…everything. I love angst, I love fluff, I love everything - but it has to be written well. I also love build-up and epic types of stories with my babies like TWTCH.
My kinks: Everything. IDGAF. Let their dicks come together, amen.
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Um well this is difficult. I’ve become a bit of a stuffy Pirate who is “Kurtofsky or bust” so…yeah.
My happily ever after for them: In ten years, Kurt is on Broadway or a fashion designer or something great and Dave is a sports agent. They live in New York in a beautiful apartment and take their son to football games on the weekends. In ten years, David is happy and Kurt has never been more happy in his life when he sees the beautiful smile on his partner’s face. Neither one of them has forgotten the things they’ve gone through together, but in reality, that has made them stronger.
who is the big spoon/little spoon: Doesn’t matter.
what is their favorite non-sexual activity: Cooking together or bickering.
What Kurt stands to gain in Kurtofsky:
I just had my thoughts jumbled around over the idea, and I wanted to post them. I can’t remember if I’ve said all of this before, but I just wanted to add some new posts into The Kurtofsky Archive. Unfortunately, the Kurt side is a little bare. Not because we don’t love Kurt, but because 9.9 times out of 10 the pirates are left defending Dave from haters more so than Kurt.
Anyway, I’m digressing from the point. The fact of the matter is, we pirates care about Kurt just as much as the next Kurtsie. He’s not some ‘hot, super attractive, cutie-pie’ that fuels our ship. He’s not a trophy, but has equal weight in the relationship as much as Dave.
I can’t speak on behalf of all pirates, but I just want to make that clear. I’m speaking to the Kurtsies who are sick and tired of Kurt being a prize that fuels ships without genuine concern or care for the well-being of the character himself.

There’s a lot of talk about Kurt and Karofsky and Chris and forgiveness and not forgiveness and abuse and stuff. And I get it, there’s no right answer, there’s no one right thing that Kurt should do. Maybe it’s right that he forgives Karofsky for what he did and tries to help him. Maybe he shouldn’t forget so easily and stay away from the person that was so horrible to him. But.
Kurt has had time. He was at Dalton, then Karfosky left the school. Kurt has had time to heal and move on and I feel like if he wants to go and sit by Karofsky’s bed in hospital then fine.
What Kurt wants - what Chris wants - is a world where people can be who they are without judgement, without pain, without suffering and without punishment. Who Karofsky is now isn’t who he was a year ago. I doubt anyone was the same person from 16 to 17, or 17 to 18. If Kurt wants to forgive him, then I think that can be a good message.
Glee is about acceptance. Not about acceptance only if you’ve always done the right thing. Because no one on that show is perfect. Most of them, at one time or another, have done fairly horrible things. I’m not saying their mistakes makes Karofsky’s better. I’m just saying that no one is irredeemable. No one is worth less than anyone else, and that’s not an idea we should be participating in or perpetuating.
Think what you want about Karofsky. But think about a world with no forgiveness, no forgetting. It’s not a very nice place to be.

First of Max’s scenes in On My Way
ashamed to admit it but i bullied people who were gay almost every day in school with my friends just so i could fit in………….when i KNEW i was so that’s why i related to dave the most, even if he is a guy and i’m girl
JUST FUCKING SAYING
Yeah, that’s why I like Dave so much because I do believe he’s relatable to people on some level. You either knew a Dave, were a Dave, or had similar feelings of hopelessness, etc. etc.
Never has an episode of Glee hit home so hard.
Yes, as a lot of you know, I am still in the closet. You guys on Tumblr are the only people that know that I am gay.
So yes. I am Dave Karofsky. Closeted. Scared. Not sure of what my friends and family may think of me.
The suicide scene killed me because I have had thoughts about doing so. I’ve felt so alone, so mistreated, so hurt like Dave in that scene before. It was almost as if I saw myself through him in that scene.
And yes, luckily he is still alive. And I know I will never do anything to harm myself like that.
But it’s all thanks to the Pirates.
You all are the happiest part about my life. Logging on Tumblr, talking to you all, and sharing the same interests. It makes my day everyday.
So I just want to thank you all for being there for me and treating me like I am a part of something special.
I love you all more than words could describe.
You are important to us. Don’t give up. Grow up and get the fuck out of there. It’s hard and tenuous at times, but you can leave and live a better life soon.
It’s things like these that make the bullshit of “internet friends aren’t real friends” fly out of the window.
Boy, you already have heard me about a million times already, so I’ll just leave it at that. xD
Ship - Kurtofsky [Kurt/David] Beauty and the Beast - Tale as Old as Time
What are you doing to my emotions???
Okay, you know what? I don’t like to encourage haters by replying to their asks with anything but snarky comedy, but this argument really bugs the shit out of me, and I’ll tell you why.
Are you out of your stupid, ignorant, twisted, mother. fucking. mind?
Did you just put a question in my askbox that contained the phrase “Suicide attempt was a power shift in his favor” without thinking there was anything wrong with it? If this had been one of those caps-lock messages that were pure spewings of hatred and rape apologist shit, I might have ignored it. But your writing is relatively eloquent, and you clearly thought it through before you hit “Ask”, which is the most alarming and disturbing thing about this message.
So let me break it down for you.
1. A suicide attempt is in no one’s favor. No one’s. Don’t move on until you get that through your skull.
2. Despite what you seem to think, not everything in Dave’s storyline is about Kurt. This was not a call for attention, a “maybe Kurt will feel sorry for me now” thing, it was Dave attempting to take his own life because he had tried so many things to make life better for himself, and none of it worked. His worst nightmare came true and there was nothing he could do to stop everyone from turning on him.
3. Are you suggesting that if someone attempts suicide, they can never have a relationship that will be based on anything but pity? Even when Kurt told Dave he was sorry he hadn’t returned his calls, Dave cut him off. I’m not denying Kurt felt bad for him- that was clear. But to say even that their friendship is pity-based is something of a delusion. You’re not even worth arguing with if you can watch that hospital scene and tell me Kurt wasn’t feeling a genuine connection to Dave. I’m not even arguing that it was romantic, because I don’t think it was. But to say it never could be because Dave attempted suicide is not only disgusting, but also, for lack of a better word, stupid.
4. So much of what Dave has done- in the hallway scene, the breadstix scene, the hospital scene- it’s all been one big apology. He’s trying as hard as he fucking can to restore some sort of balance in his relationship with Kurt. While some people have to fight to get someone to see them romantically, Dave was also fighting just to be seen as a person, a human being, someone who could change and was capable of being loved.
5. Love is messed up. Please step out from the Teenage Dream bubble and join the rest of us in reality. Loving someone, romantically or not, puts you through some fucked up stuff. It hurts. And that’s because it changes you. So yes, they went through a lot of shit. More so, I’d say, than any couple on Glee has. And yet, somehow, they’ve come out on the other side, smiling, gripping each other’s hand. Knowing that two people are capable of that- of going through an intense storm of emotions and problems and horrible trials and still coming out not only in one piece, but strong and smiling because of each other- that is what a good fucking relationship is. Not skipping through life and singing love songs and praying you never encounter an obstacle.
So there you go. I took a minute to think about what I’m shipping. Maybe you should too.
In which I am proud of Kurt for coming out as pro-Karofsky (Pirate!), in spite of the haters.
Shaming forgiveness
After everything that we’ve been through, I didn’t have anywhere else to go.

I had a lot of “Kurt feels” when he delivered this line to the God Squad. I love that he treated the group as a confessional, because you know what? I don’t think he told Blaine about Karofsky asking him out. I really don’t think he told his dad, who is the only other person with whom to potentially have this conversation. So he goes to the God Squad, and he tells them about the guilt he’s feeling, because who else can he tell? (There is a good post and a couple of great comments speaking to this over at Deconstructing Glee. Go.)
Kurt says, “I heard you were praying for Karofsky.” Because obviously, his peers expect Dave to still be “Karofsky” to Kurt. They don’t know about the moments Dave has broken down before Kurt, or the extremely personal nature of their conversations. They don’t know that Kurt and Dave have sat side by side in a bar and spoken about the steps Dave is taking towards self-acceptance, or that just a week before, Dave had unmasked himself and confessed that he had feelings for Kurt. They don’t know that for Kurt, Karofsky has become “David.”
And I don’t think Kurt was ready for people to know that, either, in that scene.
There is an enormous amount of shame, ironically, in forgiving the person who has done something awful to you. Yes, society talks a good game about forgiveness and compassion and turning the other cheek and all of that, but in truth, people who forgive are seen as weak, or so damaged that they’ve lost the ability to make such judgements for themselves. (Think of Glee fandom, and how much disgust there has been at the idea of Kurt feelingpain or guilt about Karofsky’s plight: it’s been rampant, and hostile, and very personal.) If you forgive, you’re perceived as having no self-worth. If you move forward with any emotion other than hatred or anger, you are written off, contemptible. The reaction is not just, “I’m worried about you, and what effect this might have on you,” but “What is wrongwith you?”
Kurt is not just battling his feelings of misplaced guilt and responsibility. I think he is fighting his sense of shame in feeling so connected to, so compassionate towards someone who has hurt him. He can’t go deliver an edible arrangement with the God Squad, because when he walks into the room and sees David lying in that hospital bed, he’s going to break down (as he does). He’s going to say things like, “I’m so happy you’re alive, David.” He’s going include David in the us/them equation in a way that will be confusing, if not downright offensive to people who care about him. He’s going to try to brush off the past in a way that is neither healthy nor necessary (though David won’t let him): but he doesn’t have to erase what David has done to care what happens to him, to care about him. It takes him three days to be able to overcome that shame and walk into Room 5437 and commit to being a part of David’s life and recovery.
When Kurt says, “I’m going to help you, and so is everyone else who loves you and accepts you for you who are. And if they can’t accept that, then screw ‘em,” he knows that there are people he may have to shine off or write off because they will not understand his friendship and bond with “Karofsky,” who will see him as weak or too fucked up by this guy who tormented him to be allowed to choose such a relationship.
But people’s lives get tangled up in complicated ways, ways that are inexplicable to anyone on the outside. Glee is not a roadmap, telling us how to live; Glee is putting food on the table of our imagination, and we can take what we like and leave the rest for someone else.
I love Kurt’s forgiveness and humility. I love David’s repentance and the hope of his happiness. I love what these two young men have taught each other, and I love that they can hold onto one other, finally.
There is a we here, whether anyone on the outside approves of it or not. There is no shame in that.
just going to give my two cents on triggers.
i’ve been triggered before. as a lot of you know i went through a really tough few years with panic attacks, depression, anxiety, dropping out of school, watching my grandma die, having suicidal ideations because of an antidepressant, ending up in a “day hospital” (aka a mental hospital where i got to go home at night), and all of that. it’s reasonable that things can trigger me.
however, for me at least, triggers come out of no where, and aren’t the same thing again and again. they can be tiny details. the first time i had a panic attack i bumped my leg on the shower. sometime later when i bumped my leg on something i got triggered. i had my worst panic attack in the hospital with my grandma. being in a hospital while my brother got a simple procedure done triggered me. tiny things like that.
if i watch someone on tv having a panic attack, it probably isn’t going to affect me more than “that sucks for that character, i know how that feels”. however, i also understand that when something more serious happens that seeing a rape/attempted rape on tv can trigger a rape victim.
if a person had really bad bullies, perhaps hearing someone repeat a phrase that bully said to them could trigger them.
my therapist told me about a woman who was sexually assaulted and got into an elevator and was badly triggered. in the end, they realized she was triggered because the man in the elevator with her was wearing the same shirt as her assaulter.
now, if someone was bullied and is claiming to be triggered by karofsky, i don’t think they would’ve made it this far into the show. they would’ve stopped watching when the jocks began their homophobic bullying. how can you stand to watch the actual bullying and be okay, but can’t handle when the bully has reformed and is making amends and becoming a good and honest person?
so you can handle watching the bully do the bad stuff, but you can’t handle it once he redeems himself?
yeah, makes a lot of sense.
