Watching chinese wuxia/historical romance/fantasy/supernatural [whatever you want to call it] dramas is like a whole lifestyle change - and when the whole 50+ eps are over, and the OSTs are gone (but embedded in your brain), and the comically serious lines have been said, and the fighting sequences (that defy all laws of physics and medicine you ever learnt) have been done, you’re finally overwhelmed where you forget that it doesn’t make sense and instead you find yourself yelling at your screen telling the main guy to keep fighting/telling the girl to kick his ass/telling the villain to hurry up and kill all the idiots/telling the mentors to leave the lovebirds alone etc etc… it’s a strange feeling where what even is reality anymore by the time you complete the show? And then you get back to reality – only to find another one to pick up.

Unexpected 《来到你的世界》~ He Jie x Lu Zi Xing

He Jie is a manga artist who unexpectedly enters his own manga, Crystal Love. He is tasked with the mission to save the evil second female lead before he can return to the real world. He ends up filling up the loopholes of his own manga, creating a completely different and hilarious love story.

Animated film 山水情

Feeling from Mountain and Water/山水情 (Shan Shui Qing) is a 1988 animated film produced by Shanghai Animation Film Studio. It tells the story of  an impoverished elderly scholar and a young girl who cares for him briefly in return for guqin lessons. The film does not contain any dialogue, the only noises being the sound of the wind or other earthly elements. The animation is in Shan Shui/山水 style, which refers to a style of traditional Chinese painting that uses brush and ink to depict natural landscapes. The film is considered a masterpiece at the artistic level, since it is essentially a landscape painting in motion.

the reason these exist (iirc) is because peppa pig is banned in china for “promoting gangster attitudes”: peppa was popular (for whatever reason) with “shehuiren” (anti-establishment internet users), who made a lot of memes involving peppa and even got tattoos of her because it’s funny. the result of banning peppa is that shehuiren-types liked peppa even more afterwards, and now she’s a bit of a counterculture symbol in china. hence these shirts.
