It seems that the original post has been removed from Reddit, but I have heard lots of commotion about Netflix having not truly cancelled The OA.

Here is my take:

I think Netflix doesn’t want to invest any more in The OA. Maybe they tried to low ball Brit and Zal? Maybe Netflix put an unacceptable offer on the table and said “take it or leave it”... and for the integrity of the show maybe Brit and Zal walked out of the room.

If that’s the case, I hope they did. I hope B&Z honored the integrity of the narrative enough not to water it down into a final mini-ending like what happened with Sense 8. If Netflix can spend $200mil on D&D, they can afford to pay Brit Effing Marling what she’s worth.

Anyways. I digress...

Netflix is savvy enough to do a “soft cancel” and see what happens. That way they still have room to backpedal. I believe that’s what’s happening right now. And that’s why I believe all our actions truly matter.

The show is dead. Make no mistake. But nobody has cleaned up the body yet. Our beloved show is like Scott bleeding out on the floor, and Netflix is like Hap, blaming us and telling us it’s somehow our fault, and you and me? We are Homer and OA. Let’s do the movements all night long, with perfect feeling. Let’s come together. Let’s make some noise. Let’s be angels.

Let’s bring our beloved show back to life.

Because, at the end of the day, it’s Scott’s dimension that we’re fighting for after all. He dreamed of us. And we want to keep OA alive in our dimension. We want this story. We were never meant to become a part of this story, but there’s no going back now.

It makes sense to me that we’d fight so hard to save The OA... Touching the glass walls of our phones, we are isolated, yearning to escape our cages, and trying to connect with something meaningful despite everything that kills us every day.
