And for my next trick, here’s a preview of the next chapter of Bittersweet and Strange

The castle was fully out of view by the time Dex thought to look back. He couldn’t have gotten that far away on foot, but- Some far away animal call echoed in the distance. Dex jumped at a gust of cold wind that whistled past him, but he didn’t want to think about turning back.

He was scared, ok? Not just of the woods or the night or whatever prowled the land, but of what would’ve happened if he stayed where he was. It was the first time Keefe had used his ability on him, sure, but it was nothing like this. Be frozened in place obviously isn’t fun, but at least he still had the presence of mind to panic.

This time… Dex shivered and if he wanted to, he could lie and say it was from the cold. He’d never forget how his mind went just as slack has his body. He just had to get away.

But why couldn’t he have put a little more thought into where he was going away to? Maybe just slipping in the lab for the night would work-

The quiet was suffocating and no amount of thoughts could fill it.
