A few years ago, I took a class because I knew the professor because she had been an advisor and was totally awesome. It was a senior level English class on feminism, or postfeminism to be specific, and before it started my professor told me I was the only male student in the class. I told her it would be fine, probably, because my family were/are all women. Anyway, it was hugely eye-opening and I got an A- and I think only made one person really mad (but she later got my back during another discussion so I think all was forgiven.) The highlight of the class was the unit on riot grrl, and reading the riot grrl manifesto in class. My professor asked me to email her some links to Bikini Kill songs, which I did for no extra credit.

Mark Hoppus routinely made faces at me and did little comedy bits only I could see. He's a consummate entertainer with movie star looks and went out of his way to be generous and give a small group of us something special.
