Hello botw/totk fandom. Im obsessed with this npc Hino and i cannot stop thinking about him so i made a blog. For him. Also ill use this for general zelda stuff sometimes

Ummm thats all really. I got totk for my birthday and ive played it nonstop since but ive known about hino since botw and have documented. Almost all of his dialogue. And other stuff i find about him. Soooo all of that will go here

This is absolutely not the first time i focused on a random npc for a game i like but i figured i should make a blog bc i really do like these games and dont really have a place for any of it.

Age of imprisonment is giving me such wonderful material to work with. I have to finish the game before i come to any conclusions though... but shades possessing people? Making them act up like that... hmm... hmmmmmmm...........

Dunno if Hino still has a chokehold on your mind, but I discovered your blog today and I just wanted to say you're an absolute king, a total champ, I love seeing people passionately display their love for obscure characters!! Thank you so much! He absolutely does still have a chokehold on me, ive just not been very focused here since i got waaaay into the elder scrolls for a while. Ive also just run out of things to say about him that i havent already said, sadly. I hope your year goes well too, and sorry for the very late response, i did not see this at all until just now. All that to say, i may have to consider that i might, in fact, have a crush on him. You cant ever be too sure with such things. I have no idea how to tell. I just cant help but smile when i see him. Just some guy. My favorite guy.

Well its been a while for various reasons including but not limited to getting really really into the elder scrolls for about 3 months straight. But anyway i never stop thinking about hino. Its gotten too far. I thought, what if i try rutabaga. Because his name in french and danish is tabaga. Yes, that made me want try a vegetable ive never had before (or even seen, since it was surprisingly difficult to actually find any). And you know what? It was delicious. Im very pleased with this.

Hino means "sun", which is an interesting contrast to his obsession with the moon. Given how the sun and moon tend to be depicted in myths and fiction and whatnot, it makes sense for him to be named after the sun yet only have eyes for the moon.

His japanese name Hinabagan is supposed to sound like higanbana, which is this flower:

The red spider lillies, which are associated with death and the afterlife (from what i can understand), which goes very much in hand with his whole thing with the blood moon.

His other names are Hinagan and Tabaga. Im sure Hinagan is just a shortened version of Hinabagan, but im curious about Tabaga. It keeps the "-baga" part of his japanese name, but it doesnt seem to have to do with the moon or that flower, rather most likely being based in the rutabaga, which is a root vegetable, more specifically a hybrid of a cabbage and a turnip. Considering plenty of characters have fruit/vegetable/flower names, its not too odd that he would have one too, but compared to his other names it seems more out of place. Unless, of course, theres some sort of weird mythology around rutabagas that im not aware of (there is one thing in europe where they carve rutabagas to ward off evil spirits? I guess?). But also there may not be anything deeper about it. Who knows.

If link is 5ft-5'4 then that means most other hylians are at least 6ft tall on average. I wonder, then, how tall the yiga blademasters in botw/aoc were before getting shrunk in totk.
