Anit-Abortion legislation

A bill recently passed in congress that placed more restrictions on abortion, making it more difficult for women to express reproductive freedom. 

I would love to see one of those bills have attached to it a bunch of clauses that made the funding for the foster system increase immensely, and protect actual living children from abusive homes and starvation. You know, actually give a damn about people who are actually alive. 

I'd love to see how much less support the right wing gives that bill. 

If you're gonna make sure those pregnancies are birthed, you bet your ass you're responsible for the welfare of the resulting baby.

Bigfoot

You know how in scooby doo episodes, one of the gang looks around a corner for a monster, and the monster looks around the opposite corner, and the miss each other?

Maybe that's what happens when people go looking for Bigfoot. Like, there's a Bigfoot out there trying to prove to his people that there are humans on the surface world, and they just end up pulling a Hanna-Barbera moment.

Autoimmune diseases and cancer

Autoimmune diseases attack your body's own cells, for unknown reasons (from what I understand), and is sort of like your body overreacting to a threat that isn't there. You're essentially allergic to yourself. Allergies are similar. Your body overreacts to a typically harmless thing, (cat fur isn't supposed to be dangerous, people with cat allergies' bodies overreact to the presence of it though) and displays symptoms indicative of the body's overreaction.  Is it possible that autoimmune diseases were an evolved function of your body? When it discovered a cancerous growth, the body would attack them because those cells aren't supposed to be there, because all cancer is is an abnormal growth of your own cells.

Evolution isn't perfect, so if fighting cancer was indeed the "intended" function of autoimmune diseases, there's always the possibility it's needlessly triggered by nothing.

Monkey Chronicles part 2

I come to this place to think sometimes. Usually at night, though it's "closed after dark," but I call shenanigans. It's best after dark. It's this big gazebo structure at the end of the nautical mile strip here on Long Island. There has always been something about being near water, at night, that's always calmed me down a little. Though on this particular night, it was about 20 degrees, it felt warm there. 

I brought Monkey with me, because, well, I've grown to love a stuffed animal. Yes, I'm an adult. A very buttoned down serious-minded adult. But hey, Monkey has special meaning to me because he was made by my girlfriend and I. So taking Monkey on drives when I need to relax helps, because it makes me feel just a little closer to her.

My girlfriend loves this place, the Setti House in Norwalk, CT. I had never gone before, and she didn't get to go this year.  She and I made this monkey, dubbed Monkey, at build-a-bear in Manhattan, and she gave him to me for Christmas. I thought it would be a great idea to take Monkey to see the Setti House, with Monkey, because its a piece of her that I get to have with me when she's far away. She did put a heart filled with her love inside of him, after all. 

I love her enough to drive an hour and a half with a stuffed Monkey, walk around with him on my shoulder, and take pictures with him in a crowded family attraction.
