Why is Nick Italian?

I don't mean for this to be a jab at anyone's headcanons, I really don't!! But why are there so many fics and other L4D2 related things I've read where Nick has an Italian surname? I don't ever recall there being any mention of him being involved in anything Italian related...

And I mean, sure, it could just be vibes (if it looks, talks, and acts like a mafioso...), but I think ethnicity-wise we should all also consider Nick being Persian!!

I personally headcanon Nick to be half Iranian due to his face actor, Taymour Ghazi, also being half Iranian. I just think it'd be neat; it's something I haven't really seen before with his character. Nicolas Ghazi :3
