(Re)United Through Past, Present and Future? (5.3 Spoilers)
In which I will expose a theory about the bond between the WoL/D, Emet-Selch and G’raha Tia.
G'raha Tia’s bloodline can be traced back to the Third Astral Era, and a figure whose true name has been lost to the ages. Known only as “Desch,” Seekers of the Sun such as he were but a minor clan from the outskirts of llsabard.
During the height of the Allagan empire, Desch was conscripted into the imperial army alongside his brethren. The Miqo'te somehow gained the trust of princess Salina, and, as the era drew to a close, was entrusted with her blood and the secrets necessary to control the Crystal Tower. He survived the Fourth Umbral Calamity, and members of his family have since carried the royal line of Allag.
With the passing of the ages, the ties to Desch and the emperor grew thin, with only one child in every generation born with the telltale Royal Eye. G'raha was shunned because of it, and began to study in Sharlayan to learn the origin of the trait, armed with naught save the many stories he inherited from his forebears.
It was this study that saw him admitted to the Students of Baldesion. Now twenty four years of age, G'raha enjoys being outdoors where he will oft curl up under the boughs of a shady arbor and read until sunfall. He also has a beautiful singing voice, though he performs mainly those melodies that have been passed down through his family.
it occured to me that not everyone has access to the Elite G’raha Lore that he has a ‘beautiful singing voice’ and it’s my solemn duty to inform everyone of all lore at all times
I know this is totally obvious but I love the symbolism of the crystal exarch putting on his hood before he "died" and hiding his face VS G'raha, his reborn self, who has pinned his hair back like "LOOK AT ME I'M MYSELF NOW, ARE YOU READY FOR ME???" And I'm like yes, yes I am *cries*
G’raha is a reincarnation of Hythlodaeus, change my mind.
Tfw ur the Crystal Exarch trying to summon the Hero Of All Things across space and time to save the universe but u keep getting random members of their Squad instead :/
this is all i’m going to talk about for the next year
What will you say?
HE’S SHY (⁎˃ᆺ˂)
[What will you do?] ->Call him by his name.
I am screaming (again).
I cannot believe I did not realize this up until I saw this up-close.
The Fourteenth's crystal bears the magick to summon the "stars" to our side, that is, Azem's friends. It has etched the alchemical symbol of the Sun, that we know... but that symbol is actually this one. Can you spot the difference?
Aye, the symbol in Azem's crystal has two additional circles. An aesthetic choice to keep with the constellation theme, perhaps... except for the fact that the crystal was made to summon the stars to our side. That is, Azem's friends.
Three circles. Three stars. One in the middle and two circling it in perfect symmetry. As Hythlodaeus says before giving the crystal to us, he would see if we could reunite the wayward stars, and in his recording Emet-Selch says that though the world be sundered and our souls adrift, wherever we walk, fate will follow. This is the power of reunion. And the stars to be reunited as the crystal represents? None less than Azem, Emet-Selch and Hythlodaeus. The original friend power trio.
And we, the WoL/D, kept this crystal. We have the means to reunite in our hands now. Something tells me that we have not seen yet the end of this power trio and the wish and friendship transcending time, space and lives the crystal embodies. A recurring line this patch: "May we meet again under a blue sky."
I want to see Azem, Emet-Selch and Hythlodaeus reunite in the end of this tale even if just for a moment. I have a mighty need. For now, I will keep screaming and crying for their undying bond.
Elidibus banishing the WoL/D to the Rift: Struggle all you like. Even should you break free, there is no way back.
Emet-Selch:
I said this on twitter but...
Emet-Selch really seemed like he had a distaste for primal summoning but also primals in general.
Like take Allag and Garlemald. Both created by him.
Allag invented the summoner tradition as anti-primal fighters. Not only that but also a lot of Allagan take make use of tortured primals and their summoners.
Now Garlemald very famously was open to commit genocide on any group of people who performed summoning. Which was a directive born of Solus himself.
Maybe there's a part of him, no matter how small, that never really made peace with his role in the summoning of Zodiark and all that that it cost him.
