“Squirming ain’t going to pay any bills, Black, so maybe make it only into a hobby? I’d lower your..attempt at a smile. People might think that you’re actually trying to be nice and then your reputation will be ruined.”
“Fine, you don’t have to impress me, but don’t expect me to believe you’re some hot shot when there’s no proof.”
“Making fun of me is unnecessary, you can take your advice and fuck off.”
“You think I’m trying to impress you? Oh, piss right off. If I wanted some pureblood moaning at me, I’ll just go home, thanks.”
“Look, I’m not making fun. Just having a laugh, with a little bit of advice thrown in. Take your stupid quill. Just don’t have a go at me when people start looking at you as you begin to chew it.”
“You’ve got an awful lot of confidence for someone who I’ve yet to hear anything even remotely impressive about.”
“Plenty of people chew on feathers- that’s why they made a candy version? I just chew on them I don’t eat them.”
“You mean someone whose gotten into any fights, or is foolish enough to sleep around the school and gain a reputation. I’m a top grading student. I don’t need to impress students. Only teachers.”
“That’s disgusting and not normal in the slightest. They made a candy version for fun, not because there’s thousands of students sucking on feathers. Perhaps you should go and see someone about it.”
Amycus wasn’t in the best of moods, he had worked himself all up into a tizzy over this potions, and now he was unfairly taking it out on her. Well until she spoke back to him, and he just sat down in a huff. “I don’t want to do anymore, I can’t do it, there’s no point. I’m just wasting your time” he mumbled again, looking back at her with a frustrated expression planted across his entire face. Amy had never been amazing at his academics, and he was now beginning to wonder what was even the point of trying to get better.
She gave a large sigh, leaning back on her hands. She’d been sat cross legged for the past hour and her arse was beginning to get numb. “You were doing fine at the start. You just got distracted. Five minutes ago you were barely looking at what was happening in the cauldron and just throwing everything in It’s an organic process, you just need to be prepared to put the time and concentration in.” She gave a large yawn and grabbed a chocolate frog, throwing him one. “Is there any way I can make this fun? Turn it into a game or a competition?”
“Almost as character building as winding up in the Hospital Wing, I would’ve thought.”
“I have enough character, don’t you worry. Unlike you, I have more than four expressions and more than one topic of conversation. I’m sure you could be quite the scholar if you weren’t threatening to send everyone to Pomfrey.”
“I’ve been staring at this painting for an hour and I still don’t know what he’s doing.”
“He’s drunk. All the wine from the portrait before is all over the floor. I think he thinks he’s riding a horse, although I’m not sure how a branch translates into a large animal.”
“Interrupt me one more time and I’ll have your tongue!”
“It’s potions, Carrow, not a life or death situation. It might be a difficult one, but it’s not the end of the world.” She looked down at the cauldron and held back a sigh. Maybe they should have started with something a little easier, but she wanted to push him. “If you’re not into it, we can rearrange this for another time.”
“You’re the one who thinks insulting me is a good idea- maybe you’ve been placed wrong.”
“Why don’t you have your own? Besides I chew on the feathers- just give it back. I’ll give you another one if it’ll make you stop talking.”
“I highly doubt it. I’m a ravenclaw because I’m intelligent and quick thinking. I might not be scary and intimidating, but I know I could handle the repercussions.”
“Alright, alright. I don’t want your germs, I’ll give it back. But on one conditio- who even chews on feathers? Doesn’t it get stuck on your tongue and teeth?”
“How sweet it is that you so readily care for our well-being.”
“Actually, I was hoping that the diseases wouldn’t take so long to develop. It would do you lot some good if you got Dragon pox. It’s character building.”
“Oh how noble of you.”
“How ‘bout you just hand me my quill and not worry about what I am or am not into?”
“I’m a Raven, Mulciber. I’m not meant to be noble. Just like you’re meant to be cunning. Perhaps they placed you in the wrong house?”
“I’m using it. Finder’s keepers. I’m sure you have plenty spare.”
“I do not need ruses to talk to people. If I wanted to, I would. But I don’t.”
“My aesthetics should be the least of your concern.”
“This is Hogwarts, Lestrange. People don’t care what you need or want. They’ll talk to regardless. Although, if you tried to grow some straggly beard, that might eventually put people off.”
“You’re right. If anything, it should be your lack of manners, but as I’m feeling nice today, I’ll make an exception.”
“Like you’d ever be able to make it to that point, dear.”
“Don’t worry, I changed my mind. I don’t want to end up with any germs. Those dungeons can’t be good for all you Snakes. I won’t be taking my chances.”
“I wasn’t staring,” Nic retorted simply, “and you’d be wise not to put anything near my arse.”
“Staring seemed more intelligent that gawking, I just didn’t want to hurt your feelings.”
“There’s no need to get so dramatic Mulicber. You seem like the type of guy to be into all of that.”
“That sounds like something us Slytherins would do” he teased her, flashing her a wink for good measure, before he mused over the situation in hand. He wouldn’t care if Slughorn lost his job, in fact he would be rather happy to be rid of him considering he didn’t put much effort into helping those who were struggling, which was the case with Amycus, although at the same time he didn’t really put much effort into doing well – he was rather lazy like that. Listening to her dismiss the Library was pretty obvious when she said it , and was clearly another clue to show he didn’t really pay much attention. “Oh yeah, of course, but then again you shouldn’t dismiss my abilities, it would take something truly spectacular to knock over one of those bookshelves though” he teased, allowing his thoughts to run over what it could be like to do such things with her, but he quickly stopped them. After all she was doing him a favour right now, and he wasn’t going to ruin that. “The tower sounds great, so when do you want to start this little fling then?”
“Who says Ravenclaws can’t be bad? We’re just too intelligent to get caught.” She raised her eyebrows, daring him to go against what she had just said. She’d always believed she’d begun in Slytherin; her brother, father and mother had all been in the house, as had many other family members. She almost felt bad for not getting in. It didn’t mean that she lacked the qualities necessary, that was what her brother had told her, but it didn’t take away the sting of rejection. “It takes two to tango Carrow. We could have given a whole new meaning to the word spectacular. It’s just your ‘cute’ looks getting in the way. I prefer someone much more macho..” She stifled a laugh, instead turning to the matter at hand. “How about saturday morning? I get up around ten, so sometime after that? We’ll need a couple of hours at least. Don’t expect me to go easy either. A passive attitude doesn’t get good grades. By the end of this, you’ll be scared of me.”
After six years together, Amos was quite used to Zanim’s antics. She seemed to want to watch people break or be the one to cause the breaking. Well unfortunately for her Amos would never give her the pleasure. “The smartest people talk to themselves. Proven fact in history books,” He gave her a smirk. He had never choked and wouldn’t. “They seem not to care even so.” He couldn’t think of any person that was a morning person, so why did the world insist on waking up early.
“ The Mad Hatter isn’t the best role model, Diggory. His mind was posioned through mercury. Besides, it’s only one test. What’s so bad about failing?” Her eyes glittered, daring him to fail. She knew he wouldn't - Ravenclaws rarely failed, and if they did, it was certainly on purpose. Giving a sigh, she began to play with the bacon that remained half eaten on her plate, drawing a smiley face with the ketchup. “Maybe we should start a revolution. I’ll be the leader, you can be the martyr that dies tragically in the middle of the test, collapsing due to exhaustion. It’s a sad tale, but it’s one that will inspire the masses.”
“Oh, of course. Who hands over notes to someone who usually gives them out? Quite immodest, if you ask me!” Alice definitely didn’t make a habit of missing courses. Luckily, Zima’s notes weren’t all haphazard and difficult to read like so many people’s. That was why she’d ask her instead of someone else. “I’ll keep that in mind.Though I’m hoping there won’t be an next time. Any idea when we get to go back to Hogsmeade? My sweets box definitely needs restocking.”
“I don’t expect you to come back, not with your intelligence.” Zanim answered dryly, her fingers itching to take back the work that had taken her quite a time. “I dunno, but I feel you. I’m down to my last pack of pepper imps. I need something to keep me going in Diviniation. How else am I supposed to stay awake without any sugar?”
