It’s honestly sad to see the amount of people saying Argentina is going to win because FIFA wants Messi to win. As if the man has not endured humiliation, teasings, heartbreak for the last 10 years. We’ve seen the man breakdown due to the emotional stress of trying to win a title for his country. It’s disgraceful to throw out the quality players like Julian Alvarez simply because it’s all about “FIFA wanting Messi to win” As if it doesn’t take a team to win a game. This Argentina Vs Croatia game has nostalgic feelings to it. Suddenly it seems like 2014 where 14 year old me watched with hopeful eyes they’d proceed to finals.

Now at 23 years old I realize as this is also Messi’s last World Cup that I grew up. I grew up watching and following every single move of Messi since I was 12. He was the player that got me into soccer and through it all I’ve been his supporter not because I idolize him but because I admire his work ethic and passion. I pray Argentina wins this World Cup and if they don’t; I will continue to root for them because that’s the beauty of soccer. I said I wasn’t going to cry but dang it whose cutting onions in here.
