Don’t wait for Christmas to celebrate the birth of Christ. Make every day a thanksgiving for He reign in our lives.
Dec. 2, 2015 (via christianlivingposts)
He is with you.
Remain in love.
John 15:10 (via simply-divine-creation)
Coming from somebody who follows the same faith as 78.4% of the planet, of course there are smaller sects of Christianity but all together they make up 78.4% of the planets population.
If non conforming to the pattern of the world is biblical teaching maybe you should listen to your own message? I mean if 3/4’s of the planet all follows the same core belief, isn’t that a pattern in the world? According to Romans 12:2 you should not conform to patterns of the world and Christianity is a big whopping pattern the world over.
If you had any idea of the bible you would know this quote was just a fragment of what Romans 12:2 actually says. I love the way athiests take things out of context to try and disprove religion. I am not one to be brash and myself believe that one can believe what they wish to hence why I made this blog. For other Christians to interconnect. Not to make controversy, please if you do not like my blog or anything of the like the simplest thing is not to look at it. Thank you.
But just to let you know incase you want to use such an argument Romans 12:2 actually says “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God”.
It means not to conform to that of others, many Christians take that to mean the non-believers and to keep our mind set on God, for if we remain with a Holy mind we will not conform to that of the acts of this world. I interpret this as the idea of free will, in this world doing evil is easier than that of doing good and being Holy as per the bible. If you wish to talk percentages a statistic from 2012 says that only about 3% of Americans wait until marriage, 1 in every 11 Americans steal and statistics prove that a high percentage of married people commit adultery, providing proof for that idea. This tries to say that do not conform to those statistics and try to be pure in the biblical sense in order to allow for the good, and acceptable and perfect will of God. This can be said to speak to born again Christians more as when we accept Jesus into our lives we are to change from the people we used to be and become who God wishes us to be, to no longer be a part of sinful acts we used to be a part in.
1 Peter 2:12 also supports this idea: “Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation”, in other words “Always let others see you behaving properly, even though they may still accuse you of doing wrong. Then on the day of judgment, they will honor God by telling the good things they saw you do.”
Plus, I like the encouragement in this. Be yourself, and be proud of it. Do not let the judgement of others put you down. Be proud to be original. Many Christians identify with the phrase “only God can judge me”. Just like I’m proud to be Christian, I’m proud to be part of that 78.4%, that may not make me original in one sense but I’m me and I’m proud to be. My personality is what makes me original. So anyone reading my blog whatever beliefs you may or may not have, BE YOURSELF AND BE PROUD OF IT.
I wasn’t ever trying to disprove religion lol. I simply pointed something out I thought to be contradictory.
Also I didn’t take it out of context, your stupid picture took itself out of context, maybe put the whole verse in so people won’t “put it out of context”
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Ah yes his perfect, good and holy will, like when he ordered Moses to slay all the midianites (spelling?) But keep the female virgins for themselves, or sicking a bear on some stupid kids, or flooding the entire planet, or burning Sodom and Gomorrah down then letting lot’s two daughters rape him, that all seems good and perfect right?
Be transformed by the renewing of your mind. So basically, be open minded and accepting of new ideas? I shouldn’t have to say how ironic that verse is. Again I say, take your own advice and actually accept new ideas, or atleast don’t just reject them outright because it doesn’t fit your world view…
Again I’m not trying to disprove your faith I’m just pointing out what seems to be contradictions in your faith, so that you may question your beliefs and TRANSFORM YOURSELF BY THE RENEWING OF YOUR MIND.
Hey I’m proud that you’re proud of yourselves, everybody is certainly special individuals, my personality is also the source of my originality.
I’d like to say I’m not trying to attack anybody’s beliefs, I’m just trying to spark discussion and self reflection. So that we may grow mentally :)
Peace :D
And BTW glad you finally replied lol.
Okay, maybe I took your argument a bit in anger and did react a bit harshly. I welcome your comment and do agree while the bible gives us the basis of our religion there are faults in it. On your comments on opening my mind, I welcome it however, somewhat believe I already have I personally was an atheist and through many years of study became religious. God helped me, He made me feel welcome and through study of His teachings found a place I belong which is why I can be very defensive.
I can be the first to agree from time to time there are parts in the bible where I even as a Christian do not understand where God’s plan and will come in however, as a Christian I also believe that we aren’t supposed to. God is all-knowing for a reason and sometimes we aren’t meant to know where he’s going with things, faith is ultimately based on trust. I have reached times where I also have wanted to give up because in times of need God doesn’t always respond. So I completely understand that argument.
This was not my post originally hence the reason why I didn’t put the whole quote in it. Like I said we are all welcome to our own beliefs and I guess that’s why I’m defensive of my own.
Peace to you too :)
