johnny figures it out by accident.
you’re on the couch together, legs tangled, sharing something stupid on your phone. he’s eating chips, licking the salt off his fingers like he always does — lazy, distracted, zero shame.
and you look.
not at him — at his fingers.
he notices instantly.
his eyebrows lift, slow and curious, because johnny may be dramatic but he is not oblivious. he wiggles his fingers in front of you, teasing.
“what?” he asks, grin forming. “you want one?”
you roll your eyes, trying to play it off, but your face warms and he sees it. of course he sees it.
his voice drops. “oh. you do.”
you shove his shoulder. “shut up.”
but he’s already gone — eyes darkening, grin turning wicked, sitting up so he can face you better. he brings two fingers to your lips, hovering, barely touching.
“open,” he murmurs.
you hate how fast you do.
his breath catches when you wrap your lips around the tips of his fingers, slow and deliberate. he’s frozen for a second — like his brain short-circuited — before a low, surprised groan slips out of him.
“holy shit,” he whispers. “that’s… that’s not fair.”
you just look up at him, lashes low, sucking a little deeper, letting your tongue brush between his fingers. his thighs tense immediately. he swallows hard.
“baby,” he breathes, hand faltering, “you can’t— fuck— you can’t just do that.”
you hum around his fingers, and it sends a shiver straight through him. he shifts closer to you, breath warm against your face, eyes half-lidded and already gone.
he pushes his fingers a little deeper, slow, testing. “let me… can i?”
you nod with his fingers still in your mouth, and his jaw clenches so visibly you almost laugh.
“god, you’re killing me,” he whispers. “this is my new favorite thing. you know that, right? you’re never getting out of this.”
you suck a little harder, deliberately slow, and his head falls back.
“okay,” he groans, already breathless, “yeah. i officially have a thing now.”

He stretched and ran his hand across the sheets. The space beside him was empty and cold. Javier opened his eyes slightly. The room was dimly lit. Sunlight barely penetrated the curtains, but some managed to, casting a bright light on the foot of the bed.
He rubbed his hand across his face and buried it in the pillow beside him, still smelling of your shampoo. It was still early, and as Javier began to rummage through his mind, he concluded it was Saturday. His day off. You should be lying next to him, sweetly half asleep, sharing lazy kisses that landed randomly on your skin.
CRACK!
Something fell and shattered, the sound making Javier snap his eyes open.
"What the hell…" he gasped.
He sat up in bed, ruffling his already disheveled hair. The floor was cold under his feet, but he stood up and pulled on his pajama bottoms. With a soft creak, Javier opened the bedroom door and walked almost silently down the hallway, whose walls were lined with picture frames, then down the stairs.
"We need to clean this up quickly. Sit still, honey." Your calm voice reached his ears as he approached the kitchen.
Javier stood in the doorway, and a charming image flashed before his eyes. His three-year-old daughter, Sofia, sat politely on the counter. Her dark hair was tied into two small ponytails, and tears glistened in her eyes as she tried to hold them back.
"I'm sorry," she said, her voice brimming with emotion. "Will papá be mad?"
“Of course not, sweetie,” you replied, and Javier noticed you sweeping something off the floor. You finally straightened up, and he spotted the remains of his favorite mug on the dustpan. “We’ll buy him a new one, even prettier than this one.”
Sofia nodded, but he noticed that as you turned to the trash can, she quickly wiped her eyes with the back of her hand. Something tugged at his heart, and he decided to reveal himself.
“Hi, my beauties,” he said, entering the kitchen. Sofia’s eyes immediately lit up. “Why didn’t anyone wake me up, huh?”
“Mommy and I wanted to surprise you!” the girl said quickly, reaching out to him. Without hesitation, Javier let her hug him, and she wrapped her arms around his neck like a little monkey. “I broke your favorite mug, papá” she added, a little more quietly. “I’m sorry.”
Javier noticed your gaze, full of tenderness and love as you looked at them. "You should have stayed in bed. We were supposed to bring you breakfast."
"Scrambled eggs and bacon! And coffee!" Sofia looked at you enthusiastically. "But then I broke the mug."
"Nothing happened, princesa. Don't worry." Javier kissed her on the head. "Maybe you could draw me a mug like I should have, and then we'll go look for it, okay?"
"Okay."
He set her down, and she quickly ran to the living room, where she'd left crayons and paper on the coffee table. Javier's warm gaze focused on you.
"Hi, hermosa," he greeted, but his voice was lower, more intimate, just for you.
"Hi, Agent Peña," you replied with a smile as his strong hands rested on your hips and he pulled you close to kiss the corner of your mouth. “Did we wake you up?”
“Not exactly. I was more woken by the fact that you weren’t in bed,” he whispered, his lips brushing your jaw with impunity. “I was hoping for a moment of morning relaxation with my wife.”
“I’m sorry,” you sighed, placing your hands on his shoulders and closing your eyes, feeling his warm lips on your neck. “Sofia is so excited about this trip to the zoo. She’s been up since six.”
“God. But do you know what that means?” he whispered in your ear, grazing your delicate skin with his teeth. “She’ll fall asleep much, much earlier tonight.”
“Really?” you giggled. “What do you want to do in the meantime, Agent Peña?”
Javier pulled away. His dark eyes looked at you with joy and mischief. “I think I’ll find a few activities we can do together. And we don’t need clothes for them.”
“Impossible!” you laughed, but his lips quickly stifled your laughter.
Three and a half years after your wedding, Javier still kissed you as if you were just starting out. Passionate, ravenous, but with extraordinary care. You clung to his warm body, longing to feel his closeness. Only the whistle of the kettle brought you back to reality.
"I have to make you coffee in a different mug," you muttered, reaching over to turn off the burner.
"I don't care." He nuzzled his face into the crook of your neck. "Have I told you today that I love you?"
You laughed softly, tangling your fingers in his soft hair, letting his arms encircle you even tighter. "Not yet."
"Ugh!" Javier groaned. "I have to make it up to you."
A few kisses began to fall down your neck, and you couldn't help but laugh, feeling his mustache tickle you mercilessly. Damn, he would give anything for this moment. You in his arms, your daughter drawing in the living room, and even that broken mug was perfect. It was a life he never dreamed of, but one he had with you.
