Poem: Narcissus

I am not as in love with myself as is generally assumed Inwardly, I could more accurately be characterised as  ‘viciously self-conscious’, or  ‘the existential equivalent of a dog chasing its own tail’ This vulnerability is, I believe, predominantly rooted in self-preoccupation (a hypothesis bolstered by its own existence)

This forms something of a chicken/egg causality dilemma in that it is difficult to determine whether my emotional hypersensitivity  has caused my obsessive self-analysis and absorption or vice versa  (or both, in a repugnant jörmungandrian cycle of self-pity  resulting in latent hostility and the routine consumption of  medically inadvisable volumes of mac ‘n’ cheese)
