Delmonte Fruit Snacks: Low Carb Dessert
Low Carb Dessert. I have been on the look out for low carb dessert ideas and ever since I found out that gelatin has negligible carbohydrate it is a perfect ingredient but on its own can be very unexciting.
In a recent visit to the supermarket, i was looking for a sugar free fruit cocktail and was surprised that the Delmonte Fruit Snacks Tropical Mix has only 8 grams of carbs per serving.
On the first try, I mixed the whole packet with the standard recipe of gelatin and it was ok but could be better.
On my second try, I prepared a gelatin mixture of 4 tsp. unflavored gelatin with 2 cups of water and 2 grams of stevia and refrigerated until it was ready. This gelatin mixture has zero carb.
On a plate, I placed 1/2 cup gelatin, 1/2 serving of Delmonte Fruit Snack which is 1/2 of the packet and added 1 tbsp of Pascual strawberry flavored yogurt.
Total Carbs: The total carbohydrate is 8-9 grams which I consider a low carb dessert.
The taste of Delmonte Fruit snack on its own is not bad at all, yes it is not as sweet as the regular fruit cocktail but it is good enough for me.
