Dr. Richard K. Bernstein has lived with type 1 diabetes since age 11. At nearly 85 years old he remains busy treating people with diabetes, which he has done since 1983. Did you know Dr. Bernstein invented blood sugar self-monitoring and the use of a basal-bolus insulin dosing?Dr. Bernstein not
“Tried everything”?
Michael Crichton recently worked with the super team at Giants and Gentlemen for their client Dr. Bernstein Diet & Health Clinics. Working off the insight that people will try just about anything to lose some weight, all had a blast on set. Thanks to creatives Natalie Armata, Alanna Nathanson & super JP Spanbauer. All produced under the watchful guidance & espresso-fueled Rosanna Tanti.
Going Low Carb
Going Low Carb My going low carb came about after reading Dr. Bernstein Diabetes Solution book Going Low Carb could help you manage your diabetes better. I have been wanting to lose weight and as far as I am concerned, I have lessened my calorie intake not knowing that my carbohydrates intake is still considerably high and I am not within that "weight loss zone|'. I decided to do a version of Dr. Junger's Clean Diet, a 21-day cleanse, basically it is a juicing diet, the only meal is during lunch time. I had zero rice during the 21 days, looking back it was the perfect low carb diet. I lost 16 lbs.
New Years.....Welcome 2014
Well as most others are probably doing the same thing, I am looking at this new year as a new leaf and a whole new chapter in my life. I am doing a reset completely!
My resolution is to do more random acts of kindness. Doing nice things for others is such an awesome feeling. It really makes you realize how good you've got it and to be happier with what you have. I will be looking for opporunities to volunteer around the city (good ol' YEG) and for random people who look like they could use some help. It started the other day when I was stopping into Tim Hortons to grab a tea and saw a poor homeless man sitting in the cold snow with a cart full of empty cans. I decided that buying him a nice hot coffee and a bagel might just make his day! And it did, he smiled so big it melted my heart! And that dear people, is how I decided what my resolution for 2014 will be. Helping others!
That's not to say that I haven't decided to start new ventures for myself. In 2014 I plan on getting rid of all my debt (except my mortgage), I plan on trying new things that I've been afraid to do before, and of course, that age old decision to get into healthier shape.
I have started the Isagenix program today so here goes nothing right? The first shake was the french vanilla, not amazing, but not terrible I guess. I'm going to try this out for a month or two and see where it gets me. I just know that when I was healthier and in better shape I was WAY happier! I was a better version of myself and know that no matter what, this year is the year for me to get back to that spot. But I want to do it the right way where my body is not starved of vitamins and nutrients like when I did the Dr. Bernstein program and ended up with hair breakage (and thus began the year of the mullet lol). I have chopped my hair short once again in hopes that it will grow evenly now and almost feel as though all together I am starting fresh. The bleach blonde has grown out and I am all natural! And that is how I hope my life will be! Perhaps I will also tackle quitting smoking this year..........but I won't get ahead of myself! I am going to get one thing in line at a time!
Wish me luck readers!!
Xoxo... Eden
