“I’d still rather it not be from sugar, please.” He replied with a soft chuckle. He’d much rather it just be from hanging out with Stella, which it easily was. He was having a great time working with the animals, besides they were extremely adorable. “You do that then. Maybe you should give him a kiss while you’re at it.” Fin gave the blonde a grin, obviously just joking. He really did want the two to get together cause he wanted to see Bridget happy, not that he had any doubt Daemon would like her back. “I heard the corndogs are good. Well, I’ve heard everything is good. Eat as much of it as you can cause once this is over we’re going back to boxed Mac and cheese and questionable plates of food.” He really wished he knew how to cook better, maybe he’d be able to throw something together. Or maybe he could draw some food? But that might be weird. He laughed softly as she got giddy again, kind of figuring she would when she mentioned the other girl. “Thanks. I’ll let you know if we need you. Or let Emma know she can holler at you if she needs help.”
“Okay,” Bridget replied playfully, but eased up on trying to convince him into a sugar high with her. Her cheeks flushed significantly at his comment though, to which the blonde gasped over-dramatically, on purpose. “No way! I mean, I want to…” she admitted, “but I can’t. I don’t know how he feels about me. That might scare him off.” Even if she had a pretty solid feeling things were mutual, just straight up kissing him might scare him away. “I’ve heard the same. There’s nothing much better than anything fried, so I intend to explore it. If only we could sneak some of these treats back with us. To space out between the crummy stuff.” Bridget nodded, happy that she might be able to help with the animals if need be. “So, now I have to ask since you hatched that plan,” she began, lowering her voice. “What would you do if Stella just came up and kissed you?” Fin and Daemon were different, but it might not hurt to pick a guy’s brain.
He couldn't help but grin at her reaction. It had definitely been a joke and he was glad she didn't get upset or anything at it, not that she even really expected her to. She was too nice for that. Was that a bad thing? Of course not. "I don't think it'd scare him off, but you are probably right on waiting. You should try figuring out if her likes you. Or just go for it." He shrugged. He should probably take his own advice, but he hadn't been able to yet. Maybe he'd tell her later during the carnival. "I wish we could sneak some back, but it'd just get bad. I wonder what they're doing with all the food once the carnival is over. Surely there will be some left over." Maybe they'd keep the leftover food until it was all eaten. Which would go either way and be very quick or the mutants would make it last which was less likely. He chewed on his lip a bit at her question. "I'm not really sure. Obviously I'd be okay with it, but I think it might surprise me, but I mean, I'd be pretty happy that she did though."
themagnificentfinleyfenton:
“Okay, what if I tell you to do it? Does that mean you won’t want to do it? Pretty sure that’s how we all worked with chores right?” He asked, looking over at the other boy. He rolled his eyes a bit at that innocent smile he was trying to pull off. “You think that’s gonna work on me? I’m not much older than you.” He then nodded. “Lemme see it. Wait, you think you can finish that that fast? It isn’t that far of a walk.”
“Hmmmm… I think its just suppose to make it uninteresting if we’re allowed to do it. At least, that’s how I remember it back when I was told it was ok to come in after ten at night.” His smile only grew but took on a slightly smug feeling to it. “It’ll work eventually you just wait. No one can resist the innocent puppy dog look for long.” He held the plate with the funnel cake a bit closer to Fin and let out a laugh. “Challenge accepted.”
"That sounds about right. Though I wasn't like that too often." He was terrified of his parents at times. He was a mutant and they hated them. He was scared if he got in trouble too much or even interacted with his parents too much that they might find out what he was. They were beginning to get suspicious for sure. "You'd be surprised. There are only a few people that their puppy dog looks work on me." He shrugged before looking at the funnel cake. "Do you have like a fork or something?"
shesawhirlwind:
“But when you’re happy, the animals are happy. Trust me, I know.” Bridget laughed, but was pleased that he at least took a small sample of the treat. “Oh no, I will not! I will go to the ends of this carnival until I find that boy.” Perhaps she was on more of a sugar high than she realized. Bridget giggled, but it faded slowly, seriousness back in her expression when it came to helping the animals. “Thanks! I can handle it. I promise, I wanna get a corn dog next. I think that will balance it out.” She kind of hoped at that moment that her mother was rolling – not in her grave, obviously – but throwing a fit at what her daughter was consuming. A gentle, pleasant smile remained on the blonde’s lips; she was really starting to believe Fin. “Thanks for that,” she finally calmed a little, though hearing about he and Stella made her all giddy again. “You should! If you need me to cover the animals for a bit so ya’ll can, let me know.”
"I'd still rather it not be from sugar, please." He replied with a soft chuckle. He'd much rather it just be from hanging out with Stella, which it easily was. He was having a great time working with the animals, besides they were extremely adorable. "You do that then. Maybe you should give him a kiss while you're at it." shesawhirlwind:
“Well, okay, Fin. And as awesome of a friend as you are, I’m happy to keep a good chunk of it for myself still. You say that like it’s a bad thing!” Bridget’s mother didn’t allow her to eat junk, so she was definitely on a sugar high. “Well it’s okay, I was bound to wander that way sooner or later. I wish I had realized before it filled up. But if ya’ll need any extra help with the animals, you do know I’m a vet, right?” She tried to keep a tough face at Fin’s threat, but still a smile broke her demeanor. “Please don’t! I’m just giddy. And hyper. I’m not used to eating sugar like this.” She grinned when he took a piece, and it only kept growing when Fin talked about Daemon. “Aw, really? He asked about me? And he was… excited?” She was pretty much bouncing on her toes. “And here I wasn’t sure this day could get much better. But, enough about me – are you having fun? With Stella?”
"It is a bad thing! Especially when I'm working. I don't want to get hyped up or anything while I'm trying to work with the animals." He chuckled softly before raising a brow. "You know, if you keep eating all of that, you may pass out before you ever find Daemon." He nodded at her question. Honestly, he didn't mind if anyone else came over and helped, but it was pretty crowded with the three of them already and everyone coming over. "If we need an extra hand, I will definitely call you over, so be prepared." He laughed at her attempt to look tough, rolling his eyes a bit as she cracked. "I can tell, but you should take it a little easy. Maybe eat something other than just cotton candy? They have a lot of options. Of course he asked about you. I'm telling you, he has to like you back. I have almost no doubt about that." His teeth bit down on his lip a bit as she asked about Stella. "It's going great actually. It's nice being able to work with her. I think we're going to take a break together later. Maybe ride some rides."
ofmannyism:
“Well I’ve been keeping to myself for the most part so I haven’t really gone out of my way to meet anyone. My welcome was somewhat special since I apparently arrived after something pretty bad happened. No one’s given me any details except you but I really don’t know half of what goes on here.” Fin’s smile had become his favorite thing to see in his short time at the compound, giving him a reason to go out of his way to see it at least once a day. “Okay,” was all he could say as people who might’ve been referred to as nice hadn’t taken a liking to him and he didn’t know if the girls would be the same. “You say that but then you’ve got people like my father who is profiting from alienating a group of people and hunting them down for sport under the guise of public safety. No, most of them are pretty stupid though. They don’t really think for themselves and are just kind of sheep going about what the majority says is the right thing.” he shrugged already having his own stance on the matter. “Well, if there’s anything I’m truly good at is making people realize how worthless I am so we’ll see.”
"It's hard to keep up with everything going on here. Even after being here for three years, so I really don't blame you." He shrugged, biting his lip a bit. He felt bad for Manny. Not only had he came at a bad time, everyone who knew he was the son of Montez probably wants him out of there. Well, Fin didn't and he was sure there were at least a few others who didn't either. "Stella is really nice too, but I do know there is at least one person she isn't too fond of but that's just because of their past. As long as you're nice to her too, I'm sure she'd like you. Just uh, please don't do that thing you did when I met you. It throws some people off." He hadn't meant for it to sound rude or anything, but he just didn't want him going around thinking everyone is going to hate him because he knew it wasn't true. "That still doesn't mean they are all bad. Some of them just get caught up in it because of dumb things. I can't even hate Sentinel completely simply because of that." His lips had fallen to a frown now. Saying they were all bad was like a Sentinel saying all mutants were bad. Or a mutant claiming all mutants were good. Neither were true. "Manny, if you keep saying stuff like that, I am going to hit you and I don't ever hit people. I'm not going to hate you."
theillusionsoftrinity:
“That sounds perfect. Is there anyone in particular or do you want me to freestyle. Maybe we can do a lion,” She said with a smile. “How’s the petting zoo going?”
“Ooh, a lion could be pretty cool. I am sure the kids would love that.” He gave the girl a smile before it actually grew at her question. “It is going great. All the kids are enjoying the animals, even the older mutants are and I think all three of us are enjoying working there.”
stellacadwell:
couldn’t help but grin at how excited Finley seemed to be for the carnival. It was nice seeing people be happy for once. Almost refreshing. “Can we go ride the ferris wheel?” She asked. “And then we can get food and have our faces painted.” She said. Stella loved ferris wheels and she’d been waiting all day to ride it.
“Yes!” The redhead turned to her, a grin on his face. He had rode it once before and it had been pretty cool, so he was definitely up to riding it again. Especially with her. “I definitely need some food in me. I took a bite of someones funnel cake earlier and wow it was amazing.” He was nearly bouncing on his heels just standing there, so he began moving again, in the direction of the ferris wheel. He hadn’t had much sugar that day and he couldn’t be that excited, so he had no idea why he was so hyped up. “Alright, so ferris wheel, food, then face paint. Then maybe we can play some games if we still have time.”
stellacadwell:
“It’s your birthday silly.” Stella said, holding out what she’d brought for him. “I wanted to be the first person who told you.” She said, grinning from ear to ear. “I’m sorry if I woke you up. That wasn’t my plan.” She said, feeling bad now because she had a feeling she’d woken him up.
“What? It is not. My birthday is April 14th and it’s-” he pulled out his phone and clicked the power button to check the date. “-April 14th. Oops.” He looked back at her, his face a bit red in embarrassment. He then laughed softly. “Guess it is my birthday. Thank you so much Stels.” He took the gift she had brought, smiling over at her. “It’s fine. Though if you were anyone else, I’d probably be upset.” That was a lie. He wouldn’t get mad at anyone, especially for being so thoughtful. “Though, I should probably step out there so we don’t wake up anyone else.”
stellacadwell:
Stella looked at it and smiled, before opening up the box and gasping. “Finley.” She said. “It’s beautiful. Thank you so much.” She said, moving quickly to hug him. It was the most beautiful gift she had ever received. “Can you help me put it on?” She asked quietly.
He watched her, a smile on his face as she opened it. He chuckled softly when she hugged him, wrapping his arms around her for a moment in a hug. “Well, I am glad you love it.” He pulled back a bit to look at her. “Yeah, of course. Then you can have your other gift and we can eat some pie.”
ofmannyism:
“Great then I guess I’ll be able to meet them all there as well. Don’t really know who the other two are actually.” Manny felt a bit disappointed that it wouldn’t just be Fin as he didn’t know how the other two would react to him. Masking his nerves behind a smile he looked to the kids and they were asking what kind of animals they had at the petting zoo. “That I can understand but it would also deter mutants whom are just looking for a safe place from staying. Ever since I was a little I was shown to not really trust other’s, especially mutants but that’s changing. Me too, I hope my one friend here doesn’t end up hating me.” After a moment there came a question that bugged him. “We are friends, right?”
“You haven’t met them yet? That’s surprising considering Stella is on the welcoming committee. Then again it has been kind of hard for her and Desiree to meet the new people with everything going on.” He let out a sigh before he smiled at him. “They are both great. Really nice people. Stella is my best friend. Emma and I aren’t too close, but she’s nice. Great with kids too and she makes amazing cookies and brownies.” He chuckled softly. He was rather happy he got to work with the two of them. “Like I said, trust is hard, but sometimes you just have to allow yourself to do so. People aren’t as bad as the world makes them out to be, most anyways. Like Sentinel. I don’t think they are all really bad.” He had met someone during his month there that really didn’t fit in at that place. They were way too nice and seemed to care more then they would let on. He smiled and nodded towards him at his question. “Of course! And don’t worry, there isn’t much people can do to get me to hate them. You would have to try really hard.”
shesawhirlwind:
Bridget felt bad that she’d nearly crashed into Fin, especially with that boot on his foot. What if she’d stepped on it and hurt him worse? “Thanks, but I really am sorry. For sure – it’s like the size of my face! Want a piece?” she didn’t mind sharing with a friend. “Wait, what? How was I not aware there was a petting zoo? I totally missed that on the bulletin!” she chirped, eyes lighting up. “Now I need to make a stop there soon.” Finley’s question made her cheeks heat, and she followed it up with a shake of her head. “Not yet, but hopefully soon. I’ve been keeping my eyes peeled. Really? No way? Did he say that?” She wasn’t sure whether to blame the sugar or the mention of Daemon on her bout of excitement. “Spill. Please?”
He laughed a bit at her words, shrugging her shoulders lightly. “C’mon. Don’t apologize so much. It’s fine really. I’d love a piece though, as long as a piece isn’t like half that thing. It is so much sugar.” He blinked as she went on, tilting his head a bit. Maybe too much sugar for her too. “I didn’t tell you? My bad.” Then again, he had been so excited about the carnival, he wasn’t sure if he told anyone about the petting zoo. He narrowed his eyes at her a bit before laughing. “You have got to calm down. Don’t make me take that cotton candy away.” He reached over and ripped some off before popping it into his mouth and letting it dissolve as he listened to her. “He just came by and asked if I had seen you yet. Said he wanted to hang out with you during the carnival and hadn’t been able to find you. He seemed excited to see you.”
themagnificentfinleyfenton:
Fin had been going past when he noticed Manny and all the kids. Stopping, he smiled as he watched all of them. He had noticed the kids were taking a liking to Manny and it was nice seeing Manny at least relaxing a bit, well the most he probably could with several children running around. He watched as he comforted the kid, smiling at him as he questioned for a place for the kids. “Well, if I am being biased I would say the petting zoo, but they also might like the teacups.” He smiled at some of the kids, waving to them before looking back at Manny. “I’m free for a little bit, do you need help with anything?”
“The petting zoo? Would I be seeing you there if I go?” Manny inquired a little hopeful glint in his eye as he spoke. Fin had been the nicest person he had met in the compound when he first arrived, and was about the only one who didn’t wish to knock his lights out the moment Manny opened his mouth. “Don’t know really. It’s just been kind of hectic since I got here, but it’s starting to feel a little more like home the more I wander around and get to know the place. Thanks for the other day, everybody else I met wanted to punch me or throw me out, but not you.”
"You sure would. I'm working there with Stella and Emma." He said, giving him a smile before looking down at the kids. He really wished these kids didn't have to be stuck in the compound and that they could all be safe, but he was happy they were all getting out and being able to have fun. "The people here are great once you get to know them. Some are just a little worried to get to know newer people cause you never know who you can trust." His eyes flickered back up to the other boy, a smile still on his lips. "I guess I'm more of the opposite, I trust most people until they prove to me that I can't." He sighed softly at the story of his first day. "I'm sorry about all of them. Some people just don't know how to look past the bad things. I have no reason to dislike you, hopefully it is kept that way."
gagemcintyre:
“You understand I’m both young enough and look younger that telling me not to do something makes me wanna do it more?” Giving Fin a childish innocent smile, Gage laughed after a few seconds. “I thought as much alright, one bite and we’ll be off. I’ll finish this before we reach their stand.”
"Okay, what if I tell you to do it? Does that mean you won't want to do it? Pretty sure that's how we all worked with chores right?" He asked, looking over at the other boy. He rolled his eyes a bit at that innocent smile he was trying to pull off. "You think that's gonna work on me? I'm not much older than you." He then nodded. "Lemme see it. Wait, you think you can finish that that fast? It isn't that far of a walk."
gagemcintyre:
“Already admitting defeat to a funnel cake? Mmhhhmmmm, wouldn’t have expected that looking at ya.” Gage gave the other a gentle poke on his gut then smiled at him. “Alright we can do that, but you sure you don’t want a bite of this? there’s fruit in there somewhere, strawberries and I think some blueberries.”
“I am not admitting to defeat. I just don’t want to eat your funnel cake. And don’t do that!” He mumbled, gently smacking his hand away with a glare before crossing his arms over his chest. “Ugh, don’t say that. I love strawberries.” He looked at the piled up cake before his eyes moved back up to him. “Fine, give me one bite, but that’s it. Then we go find this turkey leg.”
“I thought working the ferris wheel would be so much more fun. I suppose my childhood carney dreams have been crushed.” Zander spoke more to himself than to the person standing in line. “How many times do you want to ride? I can make an exception for you.”
@themagnificentfinleyfenton
“Oh, it can’t be that bad. It looks like a lot of people are enjoying it.” Fin said as he looked at Zander from where he was standing in line. He wasn’t sure if he really wanted to ride the ferris wheel. He knew he’d want to ride it later with Stella, so maybe he could ride it now just to see how good it is? “Maybe just once, but if it is as great as I heard, I might go again.” He gave the other a grin before looking up at the tall ride.
gagemcintyre:
Gage gave the other a quizzical look as he looked him up and down before speaking. “Something tells me you wanna bury your face in it and see how much you can devour before you need to breathe just as much as I do.” He gave the other an accusing smirk before letting out a laugh. “That just sounds so depressing. That’s the only real way to eat a big turkey leg.”
Fin raised his eyebrows at the other boy, before grinning over at him. “Well, whatever it is telling you that, it is wrong. As much as I love funnel cakes, that right there looks like a bad idea.” He admitted, looking over the funnel cake in his plate. “I don’t think I’d make it though even half that.” He then shrugged his shoulders, looking over to one of the food booths. “Well, guess we should go find out. Maybe I am wrong.”
