‘Mayahuel’, East Village, NY
It’s 1930 in here so the only thing you aren’t wearing from the 30’s is a hat. Alcohol is still forbidden and I am happy we found this underground hidden cocktail bar where any window would have been a sin to this place. Your boyfriend is dressed up as well wearing in a grey suite, a red buterlfly tie, a white shirt and perfectly rectangular glasses that suite his smile. You have blond curly locks cut to the shoulders, and you are wearing a black suede dress. Classy. So is this place. You are holding each-others hands continuously because if you let go, time might run wild and you’ll be here with us; also well dressed, but in 2012. Love is a glorious and frightening thing all at once. The harder hold on to it, the easier it just slips us by. The less hold on to it, the longer it sticks around. In any case, no matter how hard we try, it is most definitely alive and it can slip from our hands like a wet fish. I can’t help seeing a wet fish between both of your clinging hands. And your red lipstick smile seems as innocent as a child. Good luck to you.
‘Mayahuel’, 304 East 6th St., East Village, NEW YORK. (www.mayahuelny.com). We loved the look of this place. Classy, dark and warm and welcoming all at once. Thanks to the wonderful cocktail makers who helped us choosing we had “The Borderland” and the “Senorita” (amongst others that were very good indeed). They were very tasty and surprisingly close to our attempts to explain what taste we each were looking for. (They asked). The food bites are delicious too. It’s pricy. But it’s worth it.
‘Xian famous foods’, 81 Saint Marks Place, East Village, NY. (www.xianfoods.com). Western Chinese noodle soops and more. It’s very tasty and in-expensive. Take-out or sit in!
‘The Guggenheim’, 1071 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY, (www.guggenheim.org). Maurizio Cattelan was showing his work, for the first time, as a collective piece. Each piece was hanging from the ceiling and was carrying another piece. It was beautiful and perfectly respected this kind of space.
‘Big Nick’s’, 2175 Broadway, Upper West Side, NEW YORK. (www.bignicksnyc.com). Delicious hot dogs and other American food!
‘Angelica Film Center’, 18 W Houston St, Lower East Side, NEW YORK. (www.angelikafilmcenter.com). We definitely recommend “Carnage”.
‘Landmark Sunshine Cinema’, 143 E Houston St, Lower East Side, NEW YORK. (www.landmarktheatres.com). We saw “Shame”. We definitely recommend it aswell.
Being aware of going back to Paris REALLY soon.
