The Colour options are pretty straight forward. I would like to note that there's two controls for the background gradient; the first is the colour option 'Bg Gradient', and the second is the text option 'Gradient Opacity'. The opacity goes from 0 to 1, so if you want it half opaque, you can write 0.5.
The hit counter has no practical value. It's just for authenticity. You can hide it entirely with a tick box.
For those of you who use tags to communicate with a lot, the tags can be displayed on the main page. All you have to do is tick the box for it.
The two images include the portrait of John on the right, and the header image. Both automatically resize to a maximum width. The header dimensions are 940x136, though the hight can be anything you want if you are installing a custom banner.
Lastly, you CAN add more modules to the sidebar. I made it as simple as I could. Just look in the HTML section and scroll right to the bottom. There is a greyed-out section, super easy to spot, titled "COPY THIS FOR EXTRA MODULES". You can add things like extra links or twitter modules in these extra boxes, or even a real hit-counter.
