fifteen: “i’ve found time can heal most anything”
cornelia street: “that’s the kind of heartbreak time could never mend”
Why I can’t listen to “Soon you’ll Get Better” by Taylor Swift
This is for all of you ❤️ I have listened to “Soon you’ll get better “ featuring Dixie Chicks a total of 2 times since the album release 2 weeks ago . And I Have listened to the other 17 songs a total of 1237373733$7113131414626363x1000000 Times . And yet my most favorite , meaningful , most appreciative Taylor Swift song out of all 131 songs , is unfortunately the most difficult and most skipped song in the entire discography.
I never thought I would skip a Taylor song so many times . I’ll be honest , I’ve skipped through some before but only to get to the one Im in the mood for . Since she does a variety of music , from The most vulnerable: “ Teardrops on my Guitar “ “Back to December” “AYHTDWS” “All Too Well “ “ Delicate” “The Archer” to the most powerful: “Should’ve said No” “Fearless” “ State of Grace “ “Did something bad” “Speak Now” “ The Man” , Just to name some . I don’t mean to undermine any other songs because they’re all amazing and relatable in so many levels and each have power and emotional vulnerability in their own unique way.
But , “Soon you’ll Get better” is simultaneously the most emotionally powerful and vulnerable song I’ve ever heard from Taylor . And because it is very personal it gives it 100 times more the power .
Three days before “Lover” was released was the anniversary of my Aunt’s passing from 4 months ago . She passed from stage 4 colon cancer . She was diagnosed October 2018, and passed April 2019. Giving her a 6 month span - and my mom and I took care of her since she was initially diagnosed. I promised her the best care and assured her Everything was going to be ok .
Within those 6 months I’ve seen the most heartbreaking moments and extreme amount of levels of emotions (both positives and negatives) , but you also witness people how they really are and you really appreciate the ones who are the most pure and helpful . In situations like these , you can see straight through the one who genuinely care and ones who don’t. All I can say is , thank God for the ones who are truly meant to be in the field of healing. It means so much when you encounter the most angelic humans .
Although “Soon you’ll get better” is the most relatable song , it is too vivid and the imagery is too real , I have to stop otherwise, I Cannot control myself .
“The buttons of my coat were tangled in my hair”
Places me in the moment in December 2018 where we were at the oncologist and the doctor told us my aunts cancer has been spreading and we all started crying and distinctly remember trying to hide my face in my hair so she couldn’t see me distraught.
“You like the nicer nurses, you make the best of a bad deal”
Places me me in the moment when Camille a nurse from ICU at Southern Hills Hospital gave her a kiss on the forehead and my aunt looked At her and smiled .
“Desperate people find faith , so now I’m pray to Jesus too”
Places me in The middle of January where I was so overwhelmed that I sat in the living room and prayed to anyone or anything that would listen and pleaded for help because her ostomy was giving her so much pain , I didn’t know what else to do except ask for help from something much bigger than me .
I love you Taylor Swift but you’re too damn good at writing lyrics .
And when it comes to the most painful , most difficult days I’ve had in my life , you made the most perfect song for it that I cannot listen to . And it’s okay with me . It’s a masterpiece, it’s beautiful and it’s my all time favorite. Unfortunately , it’s one that hits too close to home .
This song is the best to put in the “Lover” album . Simply because it is about healing . There is a love song for anyone in any kind of circumstance on this album . Loving your partners , family , loving everyone , and most of all , yourself.
But overall, this is an album of healing . Healing from the past and those who have hurt you , healing as a nation, a breakup , and being in the moment with those that you love and make your heart beat , skipping down 16th Avenue .
And healing from cancer , or letting go of the need for control and healing from the circumstances that took place .
Whichever circumstance it is , wherever you are in life , wherever this is ,
“Step into the daylight , and let it go”
Of course I will never let go of my aunt , but Taylor is helping me let go of what happened to her . My aunt isn’t her circumstances and neither are we . And every day I think about my aunt and her soul , not her doctor appointments , her pain , her suffering, I remember her brushing my hair and telling me how she likes my hair long . I remember how she used to decorate her house for each holiday and how warm she made her house feel . And how badly I wish I could back to those days when she made coconut popsicles and give you one without even asking for one . She was an endless giver and I don’t think I could ever amount to her kindness no matter how hard I tried .
This is what I choose to keep , the dark days are over and “ I don’t want to think of anything else now that I’ve thought of you”
Her essence is what will always remain . Everything else is slowly fading with Love all around me .
Don’t get me wrong “Soon you’ll get better” is such a beautiful song and there will be times where I will listen to it all the way through. Tears or no tears . But the graphic imagery is amazing and is what can be overwhelming for me personally. It’s just Taylor doing what she does best , being one of the most talented writer this generation has. I’m so just so amazed and beyond thankful Taylor wrote this and put this song on the album. She really didn’t have to share this very vulnerable and intimate part of her life, but it makes such a impact on those such as myself , And she’s helping millions more . And with this song , knowing that Taylor is going through something similar herself makes it even more hard to hear . I send all my healing to her and her family during a difficult time. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Im a bigger fan now of hers than I was 13 years ago .
I don’t know how she does it . But it’s like she know what to say and how to say and the exact time you need to hear it .
This is for all of you ❤️ and Thank you , Taylor for teaching me to let go .
“You are what you love.”
I love you Raquel García ❤️
I love you Taylor Swift ❤️
Thank you .

Spirits of the Dead
Thy soul shall find itself alone ‘Mid dark thoughts of the grey tomb-stone – Not one, of all the crowd, to pry Into thine hour of secrecy: Be silent in that solitude Which is not loneliness – for then The spirits of the dead who stood In life before thee are again In death around thee – and their will Shall then overshadow thee: be still. For the night – tho’ clear – shall frown – And the stars shall look not down, From their high thrones in the Heaven, With light like Hope to mortals given – But their red orbs, without beam, TO thy weariness shall seem As a burning and a fever Which would cling ot thee for ever : Now are thoughts thou shalt not banish – Now are visions ne'er to vanish – From thy spirit shall they pass No more – like dew-drop from the grass: The breeze – the breath of God – is still – And the mist upon the hill Shadowy – shadowy – yet unbroken, Is a symbol and a token – How it hangs upon the trees, A mystery of mysteries! – by Edgar Allan Poe published in 1829

Deborah needs to let Jesus take the wheel.
To all the people who have ever hurt me .
To all those who have ever hurt me ….
I have to excuse you all , I have no choice .
If I’m not able to forgive you .. I won’t be able to do so for myself .
Especially since I’ve hurt you too .
But you can’t stay . I forgive you , but you cannot stay .
Things can’t go back … there is no longer a before,
You become a memory in my hard drive between my ears … nothing more .
You have no right to be in my past , but instead the fuel for my future .
Because once the pain is done , the lesson has been learned and our contract is done .
You did what you needed to do . Fulfilled your duties ,
Every moment , Every dinner , Every laugh , Tears, Drinks , Doubts, Fears , Every promise, The broken ones too ,
The love , The hate , The words,
I find that all those things ,
I wouldn’t have gone through without you ,
Life would be … nothing …. A cast of blankness …
All these lessons I have learned would never have come to existence.. without you all .
I would never understand my meaning . I would take the great for granted . I wouldn't d be … me .
It would take me double the years to extend .
To find the higher me .
