Alice Rahon — Forest Kaleidoscope (oil on masonite, 1958)
I am completely in awe of the exhibition “Frida Kahlo - Conexões entre Mulheres Surrealistas no México“ (Frida Kahlo - Links between Female Surrealists in Mexico), currently @ Instituto Tomie Ohtake in São Paulo. It’s unbelievable how underrated these women were, they were so ahead of their time. From top to bottom:
- Remedios Varo - Woman Leaving the Psychoanalyst (detail), 1960.
- Bridget Tichenor, Leaders (detail), 1967.
- Leonora Carrington, Three Women with Crows (detail), 1951.
- Alice Rahon, Mercy for the Judas, 1952.
- Frida Kahlo, Diego in my thoughts, 1943.
Alice Rahon, Su majestad y la luna (Her Majesty and the Moon), 1956.
