Everything reminded Gemma of her mother although she was honestly looking for something. Something that would lead her to her mother. She needed to know what happened to her. “I was thinking that we could start in the attic.”
“Spooky.” Michelle joked, laughing as she moved to grab an empty box. “Works for me, come on then.” She wondered what they’d find up there though. God, she missed Karen. Moving to pull the attic steps down so they could climb up, Michelle started moving up. “Wanna grab the bin bags?”
“I’m sorry, what did you say?” @secretsummerstarters
“Just asked what’s up.” She smiled lightly. “Haven’t seen you in a while. You okay?”
nicole--archer:
Nicole shook her head. “Oh yeah, I’m fine. Just been a long day, probably a little tired is all. No worries. Need anything else before you go?”
“Alright, sweetie... if you’re sure.” Michelle offered her a light smile, shaking her head. “Oh, no.. I think I’m alright, thanks though. I’m just gonna head out.”
@gemma-harris
“So--” Michelle looked around her sister’s house, thoughts drifting to Karen and where she could possibly be. Michelle didn’t know why they weren’t just throwing some of the stuff away and sometimes it felt like Gemma was looking for something but she didn’t know what. She turned her attention back to Gemma. “Where are we starting today?”
nicole--archer:
“Yes, absolutely. No need to apologize.” Nicole happily grabbed the books, placing them back on the shelf. She felt a little dizzy, holding on to the shelf for a moment. Shaking her head she turned back to Michelle. “Please let me know if I can do anything else for you today.” She half smiled, needing to sit back down soon.
Michelle watched Nicole, noticing she seemed a little off but perhaps she wasn’t well. “Are you sure you’re alright?”
laura-darcy:
Laura let out a small chuckle when Michelle nudged her. She looked over at Ivy, giving her a small smile. “I guess I can’t.” She admitted with a shrug. “Really? That’s pretty cute.” She didn’t know the last time she’d felt like she was in her element. “I’ll be alright. I should probably take it easy on the caffeine.”
Michelle smiled, wondering if maybe it was time for a change. “Been OD’ing on the caffeine lately or something?” She chuckled a little, looking for Ivy as she ran off to play on the swings with her friend, and then she turned to Laura again. “What have you been up to lately anyway?”
laura-darcy:
“Oh yeah, thrilled. What is more my speed than spending the door in the park with children.” Laura teased, shaking her head. She looked over at her friend. “You look like you are enjoying yourself.”
“Aw, come on.” She chuckled, nudging her gently. “How can you say no to this little face?” She looked down at Ivy with a small smile. “Yeah.. I am. Kind of feel like I’m in my element actually.” She shook her head, thinking about the time in high school when she’d wanted to work with children - too late now, huh? “We can go get a coffee if you want though?”
landon-greene:
“Happy new year, Michelle.” Landon smiled back at her for a moment. Noticing Ivy, he couldn’t help but smile a little bit more. “She’s a cutie.” He commented before shrugging a little bit. “It was okay. How about yours?”
Michelle nodded, looking back down at Ivy. “Yeah, she’s beautiful...” She just wished that Karen were here because even though she wasn’t Ivy’s mother, she knew way more about this kid thing than she did, and it was hard watching Gemma continue to grow up without her. Where the hell was she? “Yeah, it was alright.” She nodded again, glancing up at him. “What are you up to?”
“Happy new year.” Michelle smiled up at them from her place on the bench. She was looking after Ivy today, in the park where there had been a mini celebration party with some kids and their parents and stuff. “Enjoying yourself?”
nicole--archer:
“Mm, yeah,” she sighed after thinking about it. “You’d be surprised how many people shop for books around the holidays. It’s a little exhausting compared to our typical day.” Nicole chuckled. “But really, please. Let me take care of this. It’s my job after all.”
“I guess it’s the easy go to when you’re not sure what to get someone.” Michelle smiled back at her, picking up another two books anyway before holding them out for Nicole to take. “If you’re sure... sorry.” She added again, still feeling silly for being so clumsy. Her head had been elsewhere for a while.
nicole--archer:
Nicole realized it was Gemma’s aunt. She hadn’t see Gemma or any relatives in a while since their last falling out. It was only a matter of time until they reunited and became friends again. That’s how it had always been growing up. “Hey, good to see you. It’s no problem, I can take care of this. It does feel like one of those days,” she sympathized.
Michelle smiled softly back at her, shaking her head. “No... I can help, it’s my fault.” She made a face, grabbing a couple of books. “Sounds like you’re having a bit of one too?”
