As a person from past-soviet country I'm really confused with all that communism-socialism stuff in US. Can someone explain me this strange obsession with strange ideology?
Well it shouldn't be that strange since statistically, people who lived under the USSR view it favourably. Secondly, there is a big difference between Stalinism (the more authoritarian, top down ideology of the USSR) and other forms of socialism and communism. Most socialists and communists you come across are usually advocating for more equally distributed leadership and more personal freedoms.

No and I don't support the USSR because I'm not a Stalinist (as I said) but I can recognise how it has been unfairly represented in western media. But yes, statistically, people who lived under the USSR view it favourably.
