I honestly do not fucking understand the whole "Palestine doesn't exist" bullshit.

It's because Palestine has never been an independent state, it's only ever been an occupied territory ever since Rome renamed Judea to Palestine. While it is unnecessarily antagonistic to phrase it like that, it's not like the Palestinian side has any leg to stand on with their juvenile chants of Isnotreal.

Israel has offered Palestine statehood and therefore complete legitimacy several times. Even offering to share Jerusalem and redraw its own borders to make it as obvious as possible they will accept and respect Palestinian statehood.

All Palestine has to do is leave Israel the fuck alone. Unfortunately for the people living in the not-country of Palestine, every single person who has said they will discuss the option with Israel is a Jew-hating terrorist who will not agree to any terms that don't include the complete eradication of Israel and its people.

Palestine, a sovereign nation that could have rights and infrastructure and international acceptance, does not exist because of terrorism against Israel and--by wanting Israel gone more than Statehood for Palestine--hatred of the people they claim to speak for.

I'm 5'11, but in most casual conversations I'll say I'm 5'9. I do this purely for the chaos that it creates. Because everyone assumes that men only exaggerate their height up, it makes me look like the only person honestly describing their height and thus knocks at least 2 inches off everyone else's description. The panic that the 6'1 guys feel at the thought of being described as 5'11 is hard to understate. I have had people run back to their cars to grab tape measures. If I could get away with describing myself as 4'6 I would.

Sometimes I try to engage in political discussion on parts of the internet that aren't Jumblr and get violently reminded of the widely-held consensus that there is no antisemitism on the left.

It makes me extremely frustrated and sad when talking about antisemitism that I've personally experienced is treated like a nefarious trick that I'm using to push some political goal. I've been told that I'm "weaponizing" being Jewish to "argue the point" that there's antisemitism on the left, when I'm literally just sharing the objective reality that I've experienced antisemitism from the left. The phases of grief I go through are like: I wish they believed me -> it's terrifying that they reflexively refuse to believe me -> I'm so furiously angry that they never believe me -> no other minority group would be treated with so much disrespect and indignity in these spaces -> god I'm tired.
