Davy Jones & Liam Gallagher
-The two best tambourine players of all time.
-Both sported a unibrow at one point or another.
-Both were the youngest of their respective bands
-Both were born in Manchester, UK
-Both were the front-men and considered the sex symbol/teen idol of their bands.
-Both famously fought with their bandmates. (Davy and Peter Tork once got into a physical fight on the set of the Monkees; Davy also had issues with Mike Nesmith at various points and was famous for saying some unkind things about him in the press. Liam and his brother Noel are famous for their various squabbles, the last which broke the band up for good in 2009.)
-Both men had high profile celebrity romances. In the 60s, much press coverage was given to Davy’s flings with Sally Field and Lulu, Liam was married to actress/singer Patsy Kensit and is now married to former All Saints member Nicole Appleton.
-Both Davy and Liam had their own careers in the fashion game. Davy Jones opened up a psychedelic head-shop and boutique called Zilch in late 1967. Liam currently runs a fashion label called Pretty Green.
Famous Liam Gallagher quote: “I suppose I do get sad, but not for too long. I just look in the mirror and go, ‘What a good-looking fuck you are.’” (NME, November 2006).
Famous Davy Jones quote: “I’m not as wealthy as some entertainers, but I work hard, and I think the best is yet to come. I know I’m never going to make the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but maybe there’s something else for me in show business. I’ve been given a talent—however big or little—that has given me many opportunities. I’ve got to try to use it the best way I can.” (People Magazine, 1992)
