TYPING IN PRACTICE POST #24: KATY PERRY

I mentioned about women who try to be Dumas archetype in the music industry when they're not. It turns out Katy Perry is one of the few who's actually not pretending to be EF(S). She actually *is* . I found this video that shows a trap that a lot of Fe doms, particularly EF(S) often fall into. Katy Perry is no exception:

Toward the end of the video, when she's reminiscing about what she had as Katy Hudson, and starts to cry, you can see her inferior Ti causing her to beat herself up for the choice she made to be the "Katy Perry" image created for her.

The trap Fe doms often fall into is compromising themselves to please others. Some often do it to the point that they lose themselves and forget who they really actually are. Some will get into trouble by giving in to others as well, like Elton John did. Katy Perry's clear motivation for the facade was to be what other people wanted her to be. In the end, it left her feeling hollow and fake because her Ti inferior troubled her

I only can tell you she's EF(S) at this point. I will do a DISC assessment on her in this video to see what her specific SOJT differentiation pattern is. I will update this post at that time. The closest MBTI type to EF(S) is ESFJ

BONUS TYPING IN PRACTICE POST #4: WHY LADY GAGA IS e9 AND FEVL

I typed a bunch of text here, and it disappeared 😒 oh well, here we go again

Okay , so in Typing In Practice post #8, I typed the actual personality of Stefani Germanotta (not the public persona she uses as Lady Gaga) as IS(F) in Classic Jungian and the closest MBTI type to that is ISFP.

Now I will explain why I typed her as e9 and FEVL.

In the book I used for source material, Lady Gaga talks about, in both the past and present, about needing to be around people, and lots of people. That's pretty characteristic of Enneagram 9. On top of that, there is also "merging" taking place, which also points to Enneagram 9. For example, in the chaper "Is She or Isn't He," Lady Gaga mentions how she has a lot of gay fans, so she must be bisexual.

I am not sure about her wing, instincts and tritype, but my best guess, based on the reading material, would be w8, sx/so and 925.

In Attitudinal Psyche, I originally thought she was FVEL. Rob Zeke had typed her as EVFL, and I know it's not uncommon to confuse the 1st and 3rd positions. Also, my 3 "Chekov" dream characters were all 9w8 sx/so. But boy, was I in for a surprise

I was right about her being 1F, not 3F, like Rob thought. I was also right about her being 4L. However, I had her middle 2 aspects backward. Upon reading the book, I came to the conclusion that Lady Gaga was actually 3V because she was self negative (needing to be pushed to do things) and others negative ( wanting to do things her own way, and in her own time). She had nothing negative to say about emotion, so she is 2E.

I did a quick test to determine if she was also a Dumas in Psychosophy, but alas, she is not. Therefore, she has no PY type.

RANT: NOT EVERY SOLO FEMALE POP STAR IS xSFJ, 2w3, FEVL

Sorry, everyone, because of typings done by Akhromant, Rob Zeke, and just those in the personality typing community in general, I just had to post this rant.

I've been thinking about making a "type the person, not the persona" post forever, as typing public persona is one common typing mistake a lot of typists make, including the likes of Akhromant and Rob Zeke.

xSFJ 92x or 2x9 FEVL is the "Dumas" archetype. A lot of solo pop star women , from ExTx women like Madonna and Taylor Swift, to IxFx women like Lady Gaga and Britney Spears, use the "Dumas" archetype for their public persona, because it's the standard "girly girl", "innocent", "naïve", "cheerleader", and "sex sells" archetype. Sadly, a lot of women feel they have to adopt this archetype as their public persona to make it in today's music industry. As a result, the actual variety of the womens' true personalities gets missed out on by the general public.

Below is an incomplete list of female solo pop stars who use the "Dumas" archetype as their public persona, and what their types are, from my findings:

Madonna: ESTJ,8w?, FVLE

Taylor Swift: ENTP, 7w8, VLFE

Jennifer Lopez: ESTP, FVLE

Lady Gaga: ISFP, 9w8, FVEL

Mariah Carey: haven't typed yet, but pretty sure she's not this archetype

Britney Spears: IxFx, 9w8 (with a 6 fix), FVEL

Miley Cyrus: ESFP, EFVL

Dua Lipa: haven't typed yet, but pretty sure she's not this archetype

Nikki Minaj: haven't typed yet, but pretty sure she's not this archetype

Rihanna: haven't typed yet, but pretty sure she's not this archetype

And I could go on. By the way, I will soon be typing a lot of the people listed above as "Haven't typed yet " in upcoming posts, starting with their Jungian.

Also , by the way, the only woman I've seen typed with the "Dumas" archetype, who may actually have it, is Kesha. And who knows, when I type Kesha, I might find out otherwise

BONUS TYPING IN PRACTICE POST #3: TIONNE "T-BOZ" WATKINS

In the Typing In Practice post #22, I typed her as ET(S) in Classic Jungian and D/C in DISC. The closest MBTI type to these is ESTJ. I was not able to type her definitively in SOJT. In that post, I said that I had enough information to also type her in the Enneagram as 1w2 sx/sp 136 , and in Attitudinal Psyche, and possibly also Psychosophy, as VFEL. I will now explain how I reached those conclusions.

Enneagram: 1w2 sx/sp 136

As I said in Typing In Practice post #22, a novice at typing in Enneagram might type both T-Boz and her best friend Lisa "Left Eye " Lopes as 8s, based on their behavior. However, behavior is not the correct way to type someone in the Enneagram. Instead, the correct way is with core desires, fears, and defense mechanisms. It turned out T-Boz, at her core, wanted to be good and correct, with a secondary need to make herself indispensable. Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes was just the opposite. So I typed them as 1w2 and 2w1, respectively. I decided that it was the sx instinct that was making them as passionate as they were. Social status ran a close second rank with Left Eye, and self preservation with T-Boz, so I typed Left Eye as sx/so, and T-Boz as sx/sp.

As far as tritypes for T-Boz, I chose the 136 tritype. It is quite fitting for her. 136 is the most industrious and hard-working tritype. It seemed quite fitting to her.

Attitudinal Psyche/ Psychosophy: VFEL

I looked at the aspects T-Boz was process about in her autobiography. To determine this, I looked for the 2 aspects that she rambled on and on about, and was more open-ended with. Then I determined which one was self and others positive, and which was self and others negative. The 2 process aspects were F (positive) and E (negative). Then, there are aspects 1 and 4, the result aspects. One of those is confident. The other is unbothered. When one takes that into consideration, it's pretty easy to figure out the relationship between the remaining aspects and their placements. It was kind of clear to me that the first aspect was volition and the 4th was logic, so VFEL.

It turns out that she matched up with the energy and defense mechanisms as well, so she is also a Tvardovsky in Psychosophy.

So, in summary, I was able to type Tionne "T-Boz " Watkins as the following:

Classic Jungian: ET(S)

DISC: D/C

SOJT: unknown

Closest MBTI: ESTJ

Enneagram: 1w2 sx/sp 136

Tritype: 136

Attitudinal Psyche: VFEL

Psychosophy: VFEL

BONUS TYPING IN PRACTICE #2: MICHAEL JACKSON-ENNEAGRAM AND AP/PY

As promised, for Black History Month, I was going to do bonus typings in practice on all the black people that I've typed in Classic Jungian and DISC (and in some cases, SOJT).

Michael Jackson was Typing In Practice post #3. I was able to type him in Classic Jungian and DISC, but not definitively in SOJT. His Classic Jungian was EN(F), and his DISC profile was I/C. These closely corresponded with the MBTI type ENFP.

Today, I am going to reveal how I typed Michael Jackson in Enneagram and AP/PY, and what his types are there, and why I decided on those types

ENNEAGRAM: 7w6 so/sp 714

I decided Michael Jackson was a 7 because his main focus, practically his whole adult life, was to run away from pain. He would use his creative genius to run away from the pain his chronic health conditions caused him, until the pain got so bad, then he used medicine to escape. And it was a medical assistant accidentally ODing him that led to his death. Now, the pain 7s try to escape is not always physical, as it was in Michael Jackson's case. It can also be emotional or mental. But escaping from pain is what distinguishes a 7 , nonetheless.

I decided on w6 for him because he was more about wanting and needing security and support than he was about not appearing vulnerable. However, at times, you could see his "I don't want to appear vulnerable " side poke through as well. But I think needing security and support was more prevelant in his life

I decided so/sp for the instincts, because Michael Jackson was all about being proper and polite, and doing the culturally acceptable thing. This shows he was social first, and I think he was self preservation second, because he would do what was necessary to escape his pain, which falls into 7's self maintenance.

Most people will say that Michael Jackson is a 794 tritype (The Gentle Spirit). Instead, I see him as 714 (The Visionary). The reason is, he certainly wasn't as active a idealist as a 794, nor as scattered as a 794. Instead, Michael Jackson had a focused idealism, and always completed his creative projects. Another clue to me of his 714 was him always wanting to do what was proper, polite and culturally correct. As well as indicating social first, I think it also indicates a 1 gut fix. Another big suggestion for 714 is that that triad is triple frustration. Michael Jackson's songs definitely seemed to come from a triple frustration point of view.

ATTITUDINAL PSYCHE : EVFL

1E: He emoted through his music, and nobody told him how. His music was how he wanted it to be, and no one else ever had a say. Michael Jackson's feelings were his and his only (self positive, others negative, result). Also, apparently, he was in a teacher/student relationship with Madonna (a 4E).

2V: This was quite an obvious aspect for Michael Jackson, as he loved involving others in his creative projects, and helping others achieve their dreams (self positive, others positive, process).

3F: This was also quite obvious in how things had to be "just so" for him in the physics aspect realm. He also had vitiligo, which gave him a negative outlook on his own physical being (self negative, others negative, process).

4L: Logic aspect things always seemed like an afterthought to him, after he got everything else out of the way. I can't actually think of any examples of him getting logic aspect advice from others, but nonetheless, logic appears to be his unbothered aspect (self negative, others positive , result)

As far as Psychosophy goes, unfortunately, he is not also a Pasternak type because his defense mechanisms don't follow the prescribed order (E-> V-> F-> L).

So now, after that analysis, I can say the following about Michael Jackson:

Classic Jungian: EN(F)

DISC: I/C

SOJT: unknown

Closest MBTI: ENFP

Enneagram: 7w6 so/sp 714

Tritype: 147 (The Visionary)

Attitudinal Psyche: EVFL

Psychosophy: no type

ANNOUNCEMENT: MY BLOG NEEDS SOME EDITS IN TERMINOLOGY

After studying more about Jung and Classic Jungian on the side, I found out that a lot of the terms I have been using to express concepts are incorrect. The concepts are correct, but the terms I used are not.

Everywhere I said "(SOJT type) type family" , I actually meant "Classic Jungian type". I have learned that my SOJT type families were synonymous with Classic Jungian types, and since a Classic Jungian type is an easier concept to understand, I will change SOJT type families to Classic Jungian types everywhere I mentioned them

Also, now I know what all the SOJT types I found while slotting people in DISC represent. I will use the Classic Jungian type ES(F) as an example:

SOJT types for ES(F):

Se-f : fully differentiated

Se: undifferentiated auxiliary

S-f: undifferentiated attitude

Se-f/Fe-s: undifferentiated hierarchy

Se-f/Fe-n: undifferentiated auxiliary and hierarchy

Se-f looks like ES(F) 100% of the time

Se sometimes looks like ES(T)

S-f sometimes looks like IS(F)

Se-f/Fe-s sometimes looks like EF(S)

Se-f/Fe-n sometimes looks like EF(S) or EF(N) or ES(T)!

These were the only SOJT differentiation patterns I found on the DISC wheel. I'm sure there are others out there. But since these differentiation patterns pretty well sum up everyone I was able to place on the DISC wheel, I will just stick with the above 5 patterns in my blog.

Over the next few days, I will be going back over the blog and editing everything to reflect this new knowledge. Be patient with me during this time, as I try to go back and capture every instance. I think I will start the bonus typings in February in honor of African American history month, and I will , of course focus on all the African Americans I've typed, such as Michael Jackson, Alicia Keys, T-Boz, Barack Obama and Tina Turner! ENNEAGRAM POST# 4: MISINFORMATION ABOUT THE TERMS USED AND TRUTHS:

PSYCHOSOPHY/ATTITUDINAL PSYCHE POST#2: MISCONCEPTIONS OF THE POSITIONS, AND THE TRUTHS

Hello, everyone. I noticed a lot of these misconceptions in either Rob Zeke's Attitudinal Psyche Facebook group or in r/attitudinalpsyche. Some of them came from other sources as well. The ones I'm going to focus on in this post involve the positions; either the position names themselves, or charteristics of aspects in those positions.

Misinformation #1: a person can only be self confident about the confident position

Truth: a person could be self confident about the flexible position as well, as the flexible position is also self positive. Self confidence about an aspect only tells you that aspect is self positive for a person. It does not tell you which of the two self positive positions the aspect is in. You have to dig further for that.

Misinformation #2: All people who hate being called dumb are 3L

Truth: Everyone hates being called dumb or stupid, so if that were the criteria to determine 3L, every human being would be 3L😆 No, actual 3L approaches logic with skepticism, and continues to be skeptical of logic, even if there is ample evidence they don't need to be

Misinformation #3: All people who procrastinate and/or are lazy are 4V

Truth: Neither of these are diagnostics for 4V. Actual 4V does not prioritize volition, doesn't mind being subservient or being told what to do, and actually gets joy out of following prescribed roles in life, where they don't have to lead or dream too much. All the V positions can procrastinate and be lazy, even 1V 😮

Misinformation #4: A person must be over the top emotional (sad and crying) to be 1E

Truth: Afansayev even said himself 1E *can*, note that all so important word *can* be emotional. Being an emotional drama queen/king is not a diagnostic for 1E. Actual 1E is going to be over-the-top *expressive*. This expression can manifest as sadness, but could also manifest as anger, disgust, joy, or even simply animated speaking in an otherwise cold person. Or simply unrestricted creativity in some cases. Actual 1E , in a nutshell, wants to express themselves how they want, when they want, where they want, and they don't care what others think about their expressions of themselves

Misinformation #5: 3E is unemotional

Truth: That one can be explained similarly to the one right above it. Actual 3E is afraid of expressing themselves in front of people, but as I mentioned above, expression does not need to be emotional expression; it can be animated speech, creative expression, or any kind of expression you can think of

Misinformation #6: 4L doesn't like to learn, listen to others' opinions or form their own

Truth: In most cases, actual 4L doesn't mind learning, listening to others' opinions, or forming their own. The thing that distinguishes 4L from the other L positions is its skepticism about logic until there is ample evidence that the logic is correct. Then, 4L will feel good about the logic. This is in contrast with 3L, which will never feel good about logic, no matter how much evidence is presented.

PSYCHOSOPHY/ATTITUDINAL PSYCHE POST #1: BEST PRACTICES FOR TYPING IN PSYCHOSOPHY AND ATTITUDINAL PSYCHE

Usually, I start each new section with an intro post, but not this time. I'm going after the best practices right away.

These 2 systems are similar enough to each other, I will write about them as one in these posts. Along with the Enneagram, I believe these 2 typing systems can pass the accuracy, reliability, and validity test if we follow these following best practices when we type people/ourselves in PY and AP.

1. Start by figuring out the person's AP type. It's easy to figure out if an AP type is also a Psychotype, so I recommend figuring out the AP type first.

2. Type the person by positions over everything else. Figure out which aspects a person is self positive/self negative, others positive/others negative, and process/result. Then put the aspects in the positions that match your findings. *Then* and only then, do I recommend the use of clubs, sextas, blocks, and the like-to check your positions, and see if they make sense with the person in question. If they do, the person is correctly typed. If not, go back to the positions, and investigate further.

3. Do not *start* with clubs, sextas, blocks, etc. Why? A lot of people can be described outwardly in the same way but still have quite different positions for the aspects. That's why I'm always positions first.

4. If you are having a hard time typing someone, it's because they're a clear extrovert/introvert with an ambivreted type, an ambivert with a clearly extroverted/introverted type, or they're not the PY archetype. In those particular instances, I look for other possible clues to the positions that aren't presenting themselves as typical manifestations of the type . For example, I had a non-archtypical dream person LVFE who didn't like to talk, so I had to determine most of his positions by his actions rather than what he said. Another dream person was a non-archtypical FELV, in that he was not counter culture to his family, and he didn't just blow where the wind took him. Instead, he got along well with his family and simply didn't prioritize volition. Position-wise, even with all those differences from the archetype, he was still 1F, 2E, 3L, and 4V.

5. Psychosophy and Attitudinal Psyche do not correlate at all to the MBTI or Socionics. Attitudinal Psyche does not correlate at all to the Enneagram. Please do not listen to the people on Personality Database who say that they do. There is only a *secondary* correlation between dominant instinctual variant and Psychosophy, and that is the *only* Enneagram correlation at all to either system.

6. Interestingly, there *is* a *direct* correlation between the conscious/unconscious dichotomy in Classic Jungian and the self positive/self negative dichotomy in AP and PY. They both represent the same thing. But I do not recommend using this to aid in your typings unless you are excellent at typing people in Classic Jungian or SOJT. If you are not great at typing people in those systems, I'd just start with the positions and then check your work using blocks, etc, as I mentioned before. (Funny how no one on Personality Database knows this.)

7. Don't trust that Rob Zeke always has the right answer. Some of his typings make no sense at all (like Taylor Swift as FELV-she's *1V* ,not 4V-don't know how you could mix those up), and he second guesses and changes a lot of typings that were correct the first time (like when he changed Eminem's typing from EFLV to ELFV-honestly I think EFLV was a better fit). If a typing on his website or Facebook group doesn't seem right, just go and retype the person on your own. Interestingly , both the examples I used here (Taylor Swift and Eminem) will be typed correctly in upcoming bonus typings in practice.

I hope that these pointers will help you to improve your typing accuracy, reliability and validity in PY and AP, and get you typing people/yourself at a passing rate of 60% or better . See you in the next post

ENNEAGRAM POST #3: BEST TYPING PRACTICES FOR THE ENNEAGRAM

The Enneagram is one of 2 typing systems that does not pass the accuracy/reliability/validity test, but I believe the system *could* pass if people follow these practices I will shortly outline (The other system is Psychosophy/ Attitudinal Psyche, and yes, I know they're technically 2 different systems, but similar enough that I will look at them together):

I think a lot of people just take an Enneagram test, don't read the results, and therefore don't question their top result, which leads to many mistypes.

If you follow this list of practices, you are very unlikely to get your type wrong or be a mistype:

1. If you take a test, note the types which you scored highest on, and read the type description of the type the test said is yours. Pay close attention to the core fear and core desire. If they make you feel some awkward, embarrassed, or vulnerable way, you have probably found your type. If not, then read those things for the other 2 types

2. Read multiple Enneagram authors. There are some authors who understand types, Instinctual variants and tritype/trifix better than others. I don't recommend fixating on just one author like they do on Personality Database (Naranjo).

3. Use instinctual variants instead of subtypes. The subtype descriptions generally are bad, and have people forgetting what the core type of a person actually is, because to a lot of people, the subtype descriptions sound like they belong to a different core than the one they were written for. Instinctual variants, on the other hand, manifest the same way across all the Enneagram types, so there won't be any, " What was that person's core again?" when you're dealing with them.

4. For tritype/trifi, look for secondary influence from the other 2 centers the core is not in. In tritype and trifix , I tend to list the numbers starting with the core and moving clockwise, so for instance, the triple assertive tritype I would list as either 378, 783 or 837, depending on which number is the core.

5. If you *do* want to look at subtypes, don't use the Personality Database wiki! A lot of those subtype descriptions were *not* authored by the people claimed. Instead, I would go straight to the author's books

6. Remember that the Enneagram is not about behavior but about what *motivates* the behavior. All 9 types could exhibit a particular behavior, but for 9 different reasons. This is one of the most important things to keep in mind when you type a person/yourself in the Enneagram

7. The Enneagram has no *direct* correlation to any other typology systems. It has only a *secondary* correlation to Socionics, and the dominant instinctual variant has a *secondary* correlation to PY. I will explain direct vs. secondary correlation if needed, but my main reason for saying this is that your Enneagram type does not have to correlate with your MBTI type, Sociotype, or Psychotype; like they try to convince you on Personality Database

I hope these were some great pointers that will help your Enneagram typing improve its accuracy, reliability and validity; getting it up above 60% and passing

TYPING IN PRACTICE POST #23: TINA TURNER

Tina Turner was one of my favorite singers of all time, because she could sing many different genres of music, and do it so flawlessly. I own her album, Private Dancer, in which she does this very thing. There are many different styles and genres on that album, and the only thing uniting them all is Tina's voice.

I went to type her, using the following resource:

In it , I learned much about Tina's life, up through 1986, when the book was published. The first thing that became clear early on was that Tina had conscious extroverted sensation. It's usually pretty easy to spot conscious extroverted sensation, even if it's a conscious auxiliary. I was trying to determine if her other conscious function was thinking or feeling, and if the sensation was dominant or auxiliary. Try as I might, I was struggling.

The funny thing was, it was a heck of a lot easier to type Tina in the Enneagram and in Attitudinal Psyche than it was in Classic Jungian. In Enneagram, she was a 3 with balanced wings, so/sp, and 378. In Attitudinal Psyche, she was EFVL-the Adorner. However, she's not a Pushkin in Psychosophy. She, like 65% of humans, does not have a Psychotype, so Attitudinal Psyche is it for her. I will talk about how I figured all of this information in a future bonus typing in practice post.

So, anyway, all this, and I still couldn't find out Tina's Classic Jungian. So what did I do to figure it out? DISC. I looked for DISC traits within Tina's interviews in the book, and this was the end result:

This result can be calculated as I/S(D), which is slot 27 on the DISC wheel. The SOJT differentiation pattern associated with this slot is Fe-s, which is a fully differentiated EF(S). So I finally got a Classic Jungian for Tina: EF(S), and the closest MBTI type to that is ESFJ. And sorry, but there is no mock interviewed dream character who is Tina's typology twin

ANNOUNCEMENT: ADDING A NEW TYPOLOGY TO THE DISCUSSION

Attention, readers, back when I started this blog, in March 2022, I listed typing systems that I would be talking about: systems that have a high degree of accuracy and validity as they are, or systems that can have that if you do them right.

Ever since that time, I have discovered Psychosophy and Attitudinal Psyche, have learned how they work, and have discovered that just like the Enneagram, PY and AP can have a high degree of validity and accuracy if you do them right. The problem is just like the Enneagram, most mistypes come from people not following the rules, making bad assumptions, etc; not because the typing systems themselves are flawed.

Now that we've got some good posts going with accurate and valid as-is typology systems (DISC, SOJT, Classic Jungian and the Big 5), I will switch my focus over to best practices for the Enneagram, Psychosophy and Attitudinal Psyche, and how to make your typings in those systems as accurate as possible

TYPING IN PRACTICE POST #22: TIONNE "T-BOZ " WATKINS

One of my favorite girl groups from my generation was TLC. I have always liked TLC, and I have liked the fact that they felt they didn't have to dress in sexy clothes or show too much skin to get their message across in their songs. Their lead singer, Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins, also has sickle cell disease, and has been using her celebrity status to raise awareness of sickle cell across the US and around the world.

I used Tionne's autobiography for her typing, which is pictured here:

Incidentally, there was enough information about her bandmate, Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, to be able to type her as well, as EF(N); however, Tionne is the main focus of this post, so on her I will stay

It was clear, after reading the first 6 or 7 chapters, that Tionne had extroverted sensing and thinking; as well as introverted intuition and feeling. However, I had a hard time figuring out whether the extroverted or introverted functions were conscious, so I read the rest of the book. It still wasn't clear, which functions were conscious, so I turned to my old friend, DISC. Through DISC, I was clearly able to classify Tionne as the D/C profile. I didn't do a complete DISC on her, so I wasn't able to get further than the D/C profile and ET(S) for her. Maybe one day, I'll do a more extensive DISC assessment on her, and get her actual SOJT differentiation pattern, but for the purposes of the Typing in Practice posts, it's fine enough to say she's D/C and ET(S).

Another clue that helped me decide she was ET(S) and not ES(T) was her Enneagram. Tionne is clearly a gut type who would easily get typed as an 8 if we just went by her behavior. However, when we consider Tionne's motives and coping mechanisms, it's clear that she's actually a core 1. Therefore, Tionne's intensity and passion was likely coming from an sx instinctual variant, and not the core itself. There will be more on this in a Typing In Practice Bonus post, but anyway, Enneagram 1 cores are much more likely to ET(S) than ES(T)

As I didn't do a thorough DISC assessment on Tionne. I don't know if she had a typology twin among my dream people. I'd say, if she does though, it's likely Harry, as she and Harry were both ET(S) and 1w2 sx/sp. I will link Harry here:

I was also able to determine Tionne was VFEL in at least Attitudinal Psyche, and she might also be VFEL in Psychosophy, considering she's ET(S) + sx.

TYPING IN PRACTICE POST #21: GEORGE MICHAEL

George Michael was one of my favorite entertainers growing up. He could sing well, but he could also play several instruments, had a great producer's ear, and wrote absolutely captivating songs. He makes me look like nothing musically, he was so great.

I used him to learn how to produce good music and how to write good songs. Still, my songs are nothing compared to his.

Even as wonderful as I felt about him, I only have one source I used in the typing of him, and that is People Magazine's Commemorative Edition, celebrating George Michael's life, when he passed away in 2016:

The first part I looked at was the introduction. In it, the person who wrote it said that when George wrote "Careless Whisper" at the age of 17, he hadn't experienced any heartbreak like he talks about in the song. I'm sure he also hadn't experienced a lot of the other things he put as topics of songs that year either. In Classic Jungian, the ability to understand what people are going through when you haven't gone through it yourself is related to introverted intuition. Once again, as I mentioned, when the functions are unbalanced in a person's life, the unconscious functions take on negative attributes, and unconscious introverted intuition would cause him to be suspicious of others and second guess their motives. Since none of this was present anywhere in the tribute, I knew that the introverted intuition was conscious, not unconscious.

There were also several places in the tribute where the writers mentioned leaving impressions on George, not him leaving impressions on them, in the realm of feeling. Therefore, I knew George Michael's feeling was also introverted.

Now, I did see negative manifestations of extroverted sensation and extroverted thinking in George Michael's life, the way Jung talks about them in Psychological Types, and with that, I was able to narrow the playing field down to 2 Classic Jungian types: IF(N) and IN(F). I couldn't get any further with the book, so where did I turn to see if George Michael was IF(N) or IN(F)? To DISC.

I did a DISC assessment from instances of George in the tribute, knowing that he was S/I (which was kind of obvious), and if his 3rd letter leaned more to D (slots 29 and 49 on the wheel) he was IF(N), and if it leaned more towards C (slots 30 and 50) he was IN(F). Here's the DISC result:

As you see C>D, therefore he is in the IN(F) slots. Because his C is not significant enough that it would be above 50/50 on the test, I was able to conclude that George Michael would be in slot 30, and the SOJT type for that slot is Ni-f, the fully differentiated IN(F). So yeah, in MBTI world, George Michael's closest type would be INFP.

I was also able to type him in AP as ELFV, and in the Enneagram as a core 4. I will write how I came to those conclusions in future "Bonus Typing In Practice" posts. And no, none of our dream buddies were a typology twin or close typology twin to him, so no dream buddy links for further information this time
