How to keep your stuffed animal fluffy and soft

Over time, and many nights sleeping with a stuffie in your bed, their fur will get pushed down and tangled. It is a scientific fact that this is the leading cause of embarrassment in teddybears.

(Trust me, I’m a teddybearologist).

1. If you decide to wash your stuffie, put them in a mesh bag or a pillowcase that is pinned or tied closed to protect them. Or you can do it by hand. Do not put them in the dryer. Beware that this will make your stuffie’s fur look even worse at first, but it is good for cleaning them.

2. Squeeze any water from your stuffie and then vigorously rub their fur with a towel. Then brush them over with a hairbrush like this to make their fur stand up more. Continue to rub with the towel and brush.

3. Blow dry your stuffie on the lowest heat setting while continuing to gentley use the brush to fluff them up. This is also good for getting moisture out of the stuffie. It may take a while so have patience. Continue to stop every now and then to fluff up the fur with the hairbrush.

4. When you are done, a great way to get rid of the last few tangles is with a hair pick like this:

I also like to rub the stuffie with a nice smelling fabric softener sheet that you normally put in the dryer. Your stuffie will smell really good and be a bit softer.

5. Ta-da! You’re done! Enjoy your new looking stuffie! Your stuffed animal thanks you.
