Even while working on the Winter Sapling Earrings and packaging up your orders from Sunday's release, I am already missing the cool blues and shimmering whites of this collection. Sweet friends, your patronage of this collection has humbled me. I didn’t how know this was going to go with the state of the world right now. As a full-time artist who must fund each next collection with the previous one, I thought the Mossflower Collection was in trouble. The collection is in the Etsy shop! These large collections are such a pleasure to create; skating around within a theme, building with my hands the views from my window and the words of a long-loved poet, and sharing it all with you as I go. It is the kind of work that sets the soul alight. As much as they are enriching, large collections are also a tremendous leap of faith. Working from early morning to late evening, sustained momentum for months of time, working fingers to stiffness and aching, to use up so much precious silver and gemstone, and all with the hopes that you will still be with me at the end, goodness it never gets less frightening! ✨January Necklaces✨ These necklaces feature freeform aquamarine gemstones. Some of the aquamarines in this design are smooth and polished, others are raw and natural. The hues of the aquamarine range from saturated aqua to powdery blue. Each gemstone is set above a chain fringe, some strands of which have tiny sterling orbs built in, like falling snow. The pendant including the chain fringe measures around 4" long. Each are suspended from an oxidized sterling silver chain, adjustable between 24 - 29" that has been oxidized and carefully polished for an organic look, and to bring out the lowlights of the chain. ✨February Forest Earrings✨ In addition to the light and fluttery earrings I made for this collection, I also made this handful of dendritic agate beauties. The stones in each pair were cut from the same rough, meaning that they match very well and in some cases are the mirror image of the other. Like on a February forest hike and encountering snowy fields and stark forests both on the way in and on the way back. I have sawn them with rims around the stones and then textured them to look like tree bark. A few little reminders for tomorrow's release: . 🔸 All the North Wind pieces I have been previewing the last few months will be in tomorrow's shop update. Everything lands in the Etsy shop at the same time, 1:00 p.m. EST. It is first come first served, to give all a fair chance to claim the pieces that are calling. . 🔸 A few of the designs will only have 4-6 available. Sometimes I like to keep the run small, this makes it feel more intimate and special. Other designs I made 30+ pieces in the hopes that everyone who would like one is able to claim one. . 🔸 Make sure you look at all the photos of the pieces you are looking to purchase, because I try to photograph these pieces from every angle, in my hand for size reference, and in natural light, so you can see exactly what you will receive. I want you to be sure you are purchasing the perfect pieces for you! . 🔸 That being said, an item isn't "yours" until you complete checkout. Meaning that other people can purchase items you are looking at, or that you even have in your cart. This is an Etsy feature that I cannot change. . 🔸 My advice is that if you have a piece you have your heart set on, complete checkout with that item first. And then go back for the other pieces you want. Checking out separately allows you to claim your pieces more quickly, and you have less of a chance of a piece being scooped out of your cart. . 🔸 In the days following the release, I will refund any shipping overages for those of you who place more than one order. . 🔸 Also! For those of you in states/countries where there are shipping restrictions due to Corona, or for those who just wish to be cautious, I can hang onto any purchased you make and ship at a later date of your choosing when things are more calm. Since these are first come first served, I cannot reserve items, but I can delay shipping for as long as is needed. ✨Winter Owl Rings✨ Owl are roosting all throughout our house right now! Little sterling silver creatures waiting to fly off into the March air. I have even convinced a few of the little ones to settle your open hands, if you happen to claim one of these rings. Furtive familiars to carry through the day. And on the tops, dendritic agate gemstones encircled by delicate twists. Each stone depicting a different winter vista, snowy field, lone leafless tree, or snow flurry. Remember with the wide bands to purchase a size 1/2 - 1 full size larger than your normal ring size. ✨Crystal Cave Necklace✨ Lavender amethyst and frosty quartz are strewn about my studio. Tiny quartz points encrust the centers of these agate slices. Slices of the earth you can wear about the neck. I have made thirteen of these necklaces, each with unique features. ✨Flurry Earrings✨ This earring silhouette is perhaps one of my most recognizable designs, first created for the Mossflower Collection with luminous prehnite. And here is my iteration for the North Wind Collection using shimmering moonstones that range from subtly gray to bright white to a touch of peach, like snow early in the morning, bright noonday, and during the golden hour of sunset. Some of the stones are completely opaque, others with slightly more clarity, rendering them somewhat liquid-looking. Others have internal fissures and feathery inclusions, which to me look like the quick-frozen cracks in lake ice. My wonder at the spectrum of these stones and their subtleties never ceases. Because I swoon to see so many of these earrings all together with their shimmy and shimmer, I made a few dozen pairs for you. Soft, wintery moonstones and swirls of snowflakes to flutter beneath your ears. I have been mulling over the health situation we all find ourselves in at the moment. The air feels charged with anxiety, many of you have reached out to share your experiences. I am constantly thinking about you, about where you find yourselves, whether you are out of danger, especially those who have gotten in touch from China, Italy, and New York City. It is heartening to imagine my pieces with you through this. I hope you think of them as my connection to you, small talismans carrying my wishes for your wellness and hope for happiness. I have also been trying to find the right path forward in my metalsmithing. As you likely know, I have a release scheduled for this Sunday for the North Wind Collection, a collection I have been working on for almost three months. With things as they are, I considered postponing the shop update. But I realized that there is no way to know when things will shift for the better. Small businesses and independent artists have a much small cushion in these situations. (Support them as much as you can! I am going to be posting a handful of the organizations, small business, and artists I love in my Instastories tomorrow!) Like my fellow artists and artisans, I am in the rather uncomfortable position, wherein to be able to continue to create, I need to put my work out there for you sweet souls to claim. Without releasing this collection, I would likely not be able to purchase silver and the bit of prehnite I need to spin together the Mossflower Collection. So I will be releasing as scheduled on Sunday (with one exception, which I will update you on!) at 1pm EST in the Etsy shop. I know that times are uncertain right now, and I understand that perhaps gray moonstone and sterling silver are not top priority. But if you find yourself needing to claim a bit of beauty, winter and snow you can wear about the neck or wrists, my pieces will be there on Sunday.
