Summer is here so remember to use SPF! Not only can sun damage induce wrinkles and spots, but you become more at risk for skin cancer. Check out the Environmental Working Group’s guide for sunscreens to make sure yours is as safe as possible. I personally use Paula’s Choice Moisture Boost Daily Restoring Complex with 30 SPF for my face and Badger’s lavender scented 30 SPF for my body.

im so honoured to have gotten the chance to read some of the stories from “An Anthology of Fiction by Trans Women of Colour” that my friend Jamie @desdeotromar is editing and curating and im even more honoured to be able to preview one of the stories from the anthology. Something For Glossy Eyelids!

So you know that whole glossy eyelid trend? The one where your eyes look gooey and shiny on top? For a while I’ve been attempting to achieve that by smearing clear lip gloss on top of my eyeshadow. However, this led to a lot of problems: the gloss was weighing down the lids, it would run and seep into my eye which made everything blurry, and it wasn’t really something I could pull off in an active environment. But after shopping around Sephora today, they had a new stock of Milk Makeup which revealed to me, the Eye Vinyl!

Here are some comparisons to when I just applied an Inglot pigment dry onto my eye (okay for full disclosure I didn’t even use primer beforehand, which makes a huge difference, but still) and when I applied the Eye Vinyl, dabbed pigment on, and then reapplied the it on top where the pigment had dulled it:

You can see the sheen! She’s glistening and beautiful! It also made for a subtle look when I applied it clear onto the eyelid, which was never something I’d wanted to try but now love. This transformation would be even more dramatic with one of their liquid pigments, which created this creamy texture that was fully and completely saturated with color when I swatched it.

Pros: it wears easy on the eyelid, lasts a decent amount of time (probably longer if you use eyeshadow within the brand), doesn’t melt into your eye like lip gloss, easy application

Cons: kind of expensive for the amount of product ($20), is still sticky so fly away hairs will cling to your eyes

Milk also had something that I did not get called Face Gloss, which could also potentially be used for a similar look but seemed a lot heavier and stickier. But now I’m thinking about buying it simply because the amount of dewy looks that could be achieved might be worth it. So if you’re tired of matte and are getting into dewy eyes for summer 2016, try the Eye Vinyl out!
