It was known to him that the other victors thought of his movements toward Cecelia as off-colour, fully aware the woman was married and therefore not an open client. That had never stopped him before and it wouldn’t stop him now; in his mind Finnick knew that he wasn’t luring the older woman in to bed with him, or anything of the sort. No. His wishes were far more sinister than that. When he wanted a woman, he got a woman. No messing around, beating around the bush, or small talk was needed for him to be lead upstairs and through the door of a Capitol lady’s bedroom. An easy job for someone so sought after.
This was different.
As he heard the woman’s voice he stopped, turned, and made sure no one else was in earshot of the two of them. That was the last thing he needed, an audience to something so private. Finnick rolled his eyes playfully and crossed his arms over his chest at the guess. “No, Mags is fine. Annie is fine.” He replied, “This is about you.” One finger poked Cecelia in the sternum and he cocked a brow, stifling laughter. “And this is serious.”
Again he glanced around. No one was nearby, but there were a few questioning stares here and there toward the two. ‘Jesus Christ.” Finnick thought to himself, ‘I can’t be that bad.” He tugged on Cecelia’s hand just a little, sternly meeting her gaze. “Know I know you of all people don’t necessarily see.. eye to eye with our President, hmm? There’s something we can do about that. You and me, and Johanna, and the girl of fire. We’re planning something. Something huge.”
“—And we want you to be a part of that.”
"Don't roll your eyes at me, Finnick Odair. I am not one of your Capitol whores." her voice was sharp. Cecelia knew how to demand respect from those both older and younger than her. She knew that Finnick couldn't help the life that had been laid out for him but he was going to learn some manners quick. "Well... Good." she could often remember many a time talking to Mags about what was going on in their respective districts. She remembered poor sweet Annie, a quiet but lovely girl. She squirmed, slapping his fingers away gently. "It sounds serious."
Cecelia allowed herself to be pulled by her fellow victor but she shook her head, black hair moving as she did so. She scanned his face when he talked and for a moment she thought that he was kidding her. Was this some sort of test that Snow had made him try on the victors? See who was willing to change things around here? Her mouth was suddenly dry. It was hard to swallow. Had she been oblivious to talk? Had she really been silly enough not to have seen Haymitch and Finnick conspiring, Johanna Mason shaking her hips as she walked and going to join them, a drink always in hand.
"You want me to be part of something huge?" her voice conveyed the surprise that she felt at that moment. But Finnick got one thing right; she hated president Snow with a passion. He had forced her to publicize her wedding for Panem, dressed her up and forever ruined her day. She couldn't even look at pictures anymore. Something like this could get them killed, would get them killed if someone in the Capitol found out. Was it worth the risk? The answer was almost immediate; Yes.
Her children were of reaping age and she knew that it would be quite the stir to have a victor's child going in. She had been lucky thus far but how long would it be?
"I want details." and she nodded, sealing her fate to whatever this was.
