Halloween Inspired Look On the Left was my inspiration On the Right was my version My Model was my brother Jorge Enriquez I was pretty proud of this look! 😉
This past weekend while attending the Makeup Show Pop-up San Francisco I had the wonderful pleasure of meeting and learning from Mrs Eugenia Weston, Nominated Celebrity Makeup Artist and Founder of Senna Cosmetics. As I approached the Senna Booth I was pleasantly surprised to be greeted by by Mrs. Weston. I knew immediately at a glance that this stunning, polished brunette with amazing eyebrows had to be the creator of this reputable brand. After some conversation I was able to share with her how I stumbled and fell in love with her products many moons ago. This woman is not only absolutely beautiful, and stunning in person, amazing at her craft, but extremely warm, attentive and very hands on with her customers. she is graceful, appreciative, genuine and ecstatic to share her wealth of knowledge. Meeting someone who was one of the first pioneers to launch a Pro Makeup Cosmetic Line, and a Brow Guru before its time was a very humbling experience. Thank you Ms. Eugenia Watson for inspiring and fueling excitement to keep learning and growing as an artist and giving tools to continuing to master my craft.
My Night Skin Care Regimen. I can not reinforce enough how important establishing a skin regimen is. The earlier in life you incorporate this the better skin, less wrinkles, and healthier your skin will be. I wash my face twice when wearing makeup with my face wash (not pictured). I wash thoroughly to remove all possible residue and makeup. I spray or apply with cotton rounds my Control Correctives Cucumber Balancing Tonic. This allows my skin to get closer to its original PH Balance. While my face is still moist, I apply Smoothing Repair Gel since I have acne scars form my youth. Then I apply my Claudalíe eye cream. Depending on how I feel my skin I will apply my Control Correctives Thermogel or my Claudalíe hydrating oil. If my face is feeling dehydrated I will apply Thermogel. Otherwise I love the hydrating oil.
WORTH THE HYPE: Lancome Grandiose Mascara
Lancome have a pretty good reputation when it comes to mascaras and their Grandiose Mascara only adds to that line up. Lancome claim this mascara is a “first of its kind” and features a “revolutionary swan neck wand“ which provides “exceptional length, lift, and volume to the lashes” and I’ve got to agree. The wand is fantastic at catching each and every lash, it applies the perfect amount of product and almost “combs“ through the lashes as you apply the mascara (that being said it can get a little clumpy) The swan neck is one of my favourite features of this mascara and an incredibly helpful aspect as it allows you to apply mascara with your dominant hand to both eyes without making a mess. This mascara is amazing at providing super long, fluttery lashes whilst providing volume too and it also does an insanely good job at lengthening the lower lashes, in fact it’s probably become one of my favourite mascaras just for that reason alone. An issue I often have with Lancome mascaras is that they are very heavily fragranced and irritate my eyes, this mascara still has a perfumed fragrance to it but it’s not so over powering that it makes you want to cry. I didn’t experience any flaking or smudging with this mascara and it held a curl very well yet it was still easy to remove at end of the day. All in all I really love this mascara, often “innovative” products end up being gimmicks but this mascara has a great formula and great wand that work perfectly together, it’s not the best mascara but it’s certainly one of them.

All About Skin - An Esthetician Rant or Advice?
Before becoming an Esthetician, I was first a Makeup Artist. In fact because I am a Makeup Artist I was always approached with questions about skin and a variety of brands and different products. "What do you think about..... "Or "what line and product do you recommend for my skin type or skin condition?" The truth is I have always been into skin care. My mother taught me at a young age how important it is to have a skin routine. When I was old enough to buy my beauty products I began my investigation (if you will) and tried numerous products and popular skin care brands. I am familiar with an array, but never once did I feel comfortable recommending in other skin when I was just a Makeup Artist. I was NOT an Esthetician so it did not feel right. Now that I am, (Esthetician/Makeup Artist) I have noticed many skin care advice from people who may not have he credentials to do so. Which leads me to this blog post. Is it a rant?.... Maybe I should call it advice? I will let you label this post. Just this once. (*Smile and wink) Anytime you see skin care advice from someone who does not posses credentials, do your research. Remember that they may be giving this advice based on their skin and experience with such product. I think it is a great thing to hear about new products and results that they can provide thru social media. It is our responsibility to take our skin and its concerns before we are off to try it. Do we even have the same skin type? We all have followed a trend, and most of us our guilty of buying something or wanting it now because of a hype. But skin is different. It is our canvas. It deserves more than being an accessory to a trend. Our skin, needs its own platform. As an Esthetician it is my duty to remind you to take care of your skin. A skin regimen for morning and Evening is important and may require different products. ~The MUA Diary

CURRENT PRIMER SITUATION. Trying out new primers? Curious to see what all this primer talk is about? Here are a few options that I have used not only on my skin, but on my client skin as well. I believe options are always the way to go, but if you are just starting to get into makeup or budget maybe a bit tight these you will find one that surely fits your budget. (From Left to Right) 1. Cover FX Skin Perfecting Primer I had heard many great reviews. Finally tried this and LOVE it. I do have to say I use this with my Cover FX Foundation. I did my skin is dewy and looks supple and radiant. 2. NYX Angel Veil I use this for everyday makeup. I've also used this prom makeup clients. It is good quality and the price point is very good as well. This is a good option for those who want to try using a primer with foundation, but may want to try more options. foundations wear beautifully over this primer. 3. Laura Gellar SPACKLE This is my go to primer for my clients with mature skin. It also is my go to primer for the Winter. My skin changes a bit and becomes a bit dehydrated so I find that it suits well on dry, or mature skin. Makes skin look hydrated and dewy. When wearing it on my skin (because my skin is more on the oilier side) I do find that I have to retouch more through out the day. LORAC AquaPrime This product is silicone and fragrance free. This is a good product for sensitive and more oily skin types. I LOVE THIS PRODUCT. I have been using this for many years. It is one of my staples. I make sure I always have extras for personal wear and makeup kit. When all else fails... This primer saves my makeup day. CITY COLOR Photo Chic This is a great product and a great price. It is oil free matte primer. Texture is thicker but wears lightly on skin. Foundation spreads very nicely and recently it has been my go to everyday. What primers are your favorite? It sure is!
Before and Afters are one of my favorite things as a Makeup Artist to showcase. It is so rewarding to see how confidence can transform a client after a Makeup application.
